How To: Activate Audi Drive Select On MMI 3G - A4, A5 & Q5

- How To Activate / Retrofit Audi Drive Select On Audi A4 (8K), A5 (8T) & Q5 (8R) With MMI 3G & 3G+ Using VCDS!
We firstly guide you through the process of how to activate the drive select using VCDS, activating the MMI 3G Screen and then the options that need to be coded in the Green Screen. Once completed please make sure to reset your MMI and shutdown / lock your car for at least 5 minutes.
We tested this on the Audi Q5 and it worked a dream but will work with other models such as the A4 and A5.
Please note that you do everything at your own risk. This particular video worked on this Q5 but your vehicle may not be compatible for one reason or another.
If you have a slightly older 3G system and don't have a "MENU" Button then press "CAR" & "SETUP" together and will do the same!
If you don’t have MMI Navigation but a Concert or Symphony Radio installed instead then don’t panic, the below video will show how it works with your car.

did you set adaptation to 47? or where did you find the number?
So my dog clicked puppy was standing on the buttons because I got out the car I got back in and it was in Audi drive select I put back in dynamic which it was on off road

My steering wheel got little stiffer even on the comfort mode.
I got this method tried by a mechanic on my audi q5 2012 s line , it didn't activate function but only that menu appeared in menu list in car. After sometime my steering was getting hard automatically while turning somewhere or whenever I cross 100 kms / hr. I wanted to shift back to normal code but now mechanic told his test tool unable to receive signal from steering module and need to visit audi service center. Please stick to your car and don't do any changes in code. You will be always happy with ur preinstalled functions.. I wasted my time and money behind this , before this my car was running super smooth now everytime steering get hard like hell

Do I need to get some sort of hardware installed first to be able to activate it using VCDS?
Or even w/o direct controls from dashboard this can be done to be used through MMI?

Just had you install this on my B8.5 A5 Cab. Turned up and all sorted in 10 mins. Quality service. Recommended you to a few others at Simply Audi who are interested in getting drive select. what other things can you code in for my car. auto roof, Windows via key ect?

The 47 on channel 66 enables the efficiency setting. In vcds the values can be changed depending on your car. 4 is the most common for pre facelift models as it is default to individual setting. 15 is common for most face lift models as it is a factory setting.

Good afternoon, how can I do the exact same thing for a 2015 Q7? In the video when your on the adaption screen, channel 66, you said that for that vehicle is code 47, what would it be for a Q7?

Hi i have a Q7 4L (2012) with MMI 3G, I am able to set charisma in the hidden menu but i dont have the options in 09 cent elec, i can see that many of the tutorials have the long coding on a BCM, but i have "ILM Fahrer H31 0400" which doesnt have long coding. I can see the "set Individual" on the CAR menu but it is greyed out. Can anyone help?

para sq5 no es recomendable. la dirección se ablanda demasiado al igual que la suspensión. El coche se convierte en peligroso ya que deja de ir pegado a la carretera. aun que la sensación de dirección blanda es muy comoda, al pisarle fuerte al coche sigue blanda, al igual que la suspensión y es peligroso. así mismo la entraga de potencia cambia y es mas lenta y progresiva. lo he vuelto a dejar como estaba. No recomiendo realizarlo en la serie Sq5

As long as you have MMI 3G then you're good to go
After activating this my suspension rose higher and got stiffer. Anyone had the same issue ? I can only change the engine and steering, no suspension option. I have a4 b8 2014

My Car rides very hard like a tractor on the uneven roads or when drive over the path holes on the road? I even thought changing my shock absorbers and Springs around the Shock absorbers; but found out that it is a very costly process?
Now, as you can understand from my explanation; all I want my S-line Audi driving softer?
Is there any way to do this? I would like to thank you in advance for all the information or full instruction you provide (or anyone else who has got the knowledge) if you even make your car driving softer?

Did mine today using vcds and all seems to be working fine and has made a difference to throttle response and gearbox seems more precise.
Is it usual to get 2 fault codes in the 5F information electr. (MMI unit)
03276 - please check software version management
03623 - invalid security/release code.
I've never seen any fault codes trigger from doing this in house. I imagine they were there before you did the change?
@@AdvancedInCarTechnologies Thanks for your reply. I don't think they were there before but hadn't checked for codes for a while. I had EA189 emissions fix reversed recently, would that throw these codes..?

If you don't have Drive Select then you need to use VCDS to activate it. VCDS only works through a laptop or tablet.

I've managed to complete the green screen actions, however, when I reboot the MMI I see all available driver select options, just mine is all greyed out and not available to select any of them? this will only work in a Q5 if the car has drive select right? wont work if the model does not have drive select?
We had an SQ5 in today that had MMI 3G. We activated Drive Select so we could install Sound Booster.
This will work even if you don't have the hardware, Using Vag-com I was able to enable on my 16 A4 B8.5
So it isn't just for looks, it actually will change transmission and engine settings?
It will indeed as long as the car has the correct elements fitted that allow for it to be changed.

I've got an Audi A5 2012 with MMI 3G, Bluetooth is only compatible for phone conversation and not play music. I am aware that the MMI Bluetooth on audi A5s after 2014 are able to play audio straight from your mobile phone. Does the update in this video resolves my problem? which is to play music from my phone connected to my car Bluetooth?

MMI 3G won't allow you to stream music from your phone. You must have MMI 3G Plus (silver buttons) for that to work.

Hello... Is it me you’re looking for?
The Image wouldn’t just disappear, something would cause this to happen. Have you changed things with VCDS or had an issue with the sensors themselves.
Cause I wonder where you are, and I wonder what you do....Haha - No issues with the sensors and yes I was playing around with VCDS, Just not sure what module I was in and what I did to make it disappear...
Work with the A3's?
Not sure as we haven't tried it. Might be possible with the 8V but will need slightly different coding.
