Regarding the cutting nothing and anything, he meant that true swordsmanship is the ability to handle the sword in a way that can cut anything or in another way that doesn't cut or cuts nothing.

Based on Oda-sensei's words: "In Japan there was a real life swordsman named Musashi Miyamoto who was regarded as the greatest ever, and he was known for using two swords. My childish idea was to simply make Zoro even greater by giving him one additional sword." And this is why Zoro uses three swords.

Regarding Zoro being able to cut steel. If you remember back in his fight against Mihawk one of the first things Mihawk said about Zoro is how his swordsmanship is brutish. And Zoro mentioned how refined Mihawks movements were. This was a first hint at what Zoro's teacher told him, being able to control what you cut and don't is where real strength seems to be. Alongside the feeling that Zoro remembered from his fight against Mihawk, where he becomes very aware of his surroundings when in a life-threatening situation, noticing a "rythem" in everything around him. This, whatever this is, enabled him to cut steel.
In true One Piece fashion you'll learn more about this, eventually.. lol

The palm tree thing is meant to show that now Zoro is able to choose what he wants to cut. He can decide not to cut anything, even with the sharpest blade on the planet (or cut anything, including steel 😉). At least that's how I understood it when I saw it back in the day.

"Oda is a historian" Carlie, you have no idea how right you were with this comment.
To be serious, Oda has vast knowledge of world history and political/social systems. This will become more apparent in later arcs, but especially his history knowledge has influenced so much of One Piece, and so many characters were inspired by important historical/political figures

From what I know, it is an original from Oda, Zoro being a triple-wielding swordsman. I read that it's Oda sensei's urge to make him look greater than Miyamoto Musashi who is a Japanese swordsman, strategist, artist, and writer that has undefeated record from his duels.
Well, someone can correct me with this if I'm wrong

I don't know why the subtitles didn't translate it but Zoro says: "one sword style iai"
Iaido consists of four main components: the smooth, controlled movements of drawing the katana from its scabbard (or saya), striking or cutting an opponent, shaking blood from the blade, and replacing the sword in the scabbard. (Wikipedia)

Regarding the Sword in his teeth, Oda most likely got it from historical backgrounds. If you've heard of "Armed to the Teeth", it was when a back in the day back with flintlock pistols and you could hold a gun in each hand, and they would keep a knife or dagger in their teeth for their backup when they fired their shots so they wouldn't be completely unarmed.

He used to use 2 swords style so, the inspiration is to make zoro the greatest swordsman even much greater than him by using 3 swords style and mastering all of them at the end of the series.

Fighting with a sword in teeth is the worse idea.
    - First proof is the guy playing Zorro in the L.A. saying that's it's hard, the handle is too big and it's hard for the muscles of jaws.
    - Second, teeth are made either to cut (front teeth) or to grind. So teeth are made to move up/down. So if you try to move left/right, it's the worse movement, and you could lose teeth.
    - Third, and it's a bit linked to point 1, the further you are from the handle, the more strength you need. And jaws are not ment for that.
Just try with a simple knife in your teeth, and try to move it (with your hand) in any direction (slowly - unless you don't care about your teeth), and see how unhandlable the situation is for your jaw.

Yeah Mr1 is a pretty big monster. In any other arc, he'd be the main antagonist, Luffy would struggle insanely hard against him. That really displays the difference between Croc and the rest of the enemies when one of his fighters is stronger than all of the arc bosses that Luffy has beaten before by far.
"I can't figure a way to defeat Crocodile" "Fire as well". Yeah we never see it but in my opinion, Ace could have destroyed the entirety of Baroque Works on his own easily, Crocodile included considering Ace is a bad matchup for Croc (and Mr 1 too, and Ms All Sunday, the three of which are the major threats here), you're right.

What I liked about the One Piece live-action is that the story is darker and slightly different from the anime, leaning more towards the manga. I hope the upcoming seasons of OPLA will have an even darker storyline. What's great about it is that, whether you're a new or old fan, you'll still be curious about the story they'll present in the live-action. It would be boring if they just copied the anime story since there wouldn't be any thrill in watching it if we already know the plot. That's why I'm happy they changed some parts of the story.

Actually, in the real world, a mere martial arts student using a high-carbon steel katana can cut through thin sheets of low-carbon steel. This is possible because high-carbon steel is harder and can hold a sharper edge. However, attempting to cut thicker sheets or moderate to high-carbon steel would be much more challenging and could damage the blade.
In terms of metallurgy, a sword made from higher carbon steel can easily damage a sword made from low-carbon steel. This explains, from a metallurgical perspective, why Mihawk's sword was able to destroy two of Zoro's katanas. Mihawk’s sword may be made of a 1095 Carbon Steel or T10 Tool Steel, which would naturally overpower Zoro's standard katanas (made of 1045 Carbon Steel).
Even if Mihawk didn't move his sword. Zoro could have damaged both his standard katanas (1045 Carbon Steel), hitting them hard enough on Mihawk's 1095 Carbon Steel or T10 Tool Steel Sword (assuming its made of real world material). So technically, Zoro did already damage steel in a sword fight before, only that he was the wielder (although some would argue it was actually Mihawk who cut Zoro's steel blades)

Zoro just used armanent haki infused with his sword to cut devil fruit user. In One Piece world, to beat devil users either you need to use haki or sea water or sea prism stone. There was no animation of haki in pre time skip that’s why i was hella confused when Zoro cut steel suddenly back then but now I realized how Oda explained the awakening of haki in brilliant way and I don’t think this is spoiler or even if it’s spoiler it really don’t make that difference.

The way I read Zoro's level up is that his observational skills got way better and that he was able to sense atomic/molecular/cristalline frequencies, which helped him 'slice between their bonds', I guess. A bit esotheric, but it works in already off-the-rails fiction, I think.

This is way before Oda came up with the idea and system of Haki. The swordsmanship lessons here (everything has a rhythm, choosing what to cut, etc.) are just common tropes in Samurai/swordsman stories. Just like how Shanks scaring the sea monster wasn't haki foreshadowing - it was just the "murder intent" that has been a very common trope in animanga for decades.
Oda came up with Haki a bit before timeskip and decided to use it to explain some past feats that characters had. This is why many early actions and powers dont completely align with how Haki works later on and why many characters who we know had haki back then (in terms of continuity) didn't use it - because it simply didn't exist yet..

      @@AfroNinja1278 *Big Spoiler Warning*
No, this is clear haki foreshadowing. Zoro said he was "putting his will into the blade". What is haki? Willpower. It cant get clearer than that. In the future we also saw the exact same quote Zoro's master said, being said by Hyogoro while teaching haki. So that's 2 for 2, both crystal clear and pointing at this being haki.
Oda clearly had the general foundation of haki worked out extremely early on. Shanks displayed it, Zoro did here, Enel will in the next arc, Luffy does multiple times later. What Oda didn't have was the specifics worked out.

I both like and dislike the Mr1 vs Zoro fight. It's cool but at the same time way, way too much one sided for too long, Zoro getting badly hurt again and again, to the point he should be down for good, and yet still getting up, until with just one single move Zoro manages to beat Mr1. It's...yeah, not as satisfying as i wished it would have been.

Looks like Zoro has reached the bare minimum strength level to become a Demon Slayer, with a few more years he could become a Hashira
