Thank you very much for this video! Can you explain, why some of the leafs get brown spots on the middle of the leaf? I guess I have been over-watering it during the winter time when there is less daylight and temperatures been low (16-22*C), irrigation water has 2x more iron in it than it should.
Hi. Just bought my first plant today, and thank you for the video. I just have one query? The soil was very dry, so i used tap to try and replenish it before bringing it indoors. I did avoid it sitting in water at the bottom. But my main concern is that would it be okay to use shop bought bottled water as our water is to harsh here judging on your recommendation? Im unable to collect rain water, so that is where i have my query. Your advice there would be very much appreciated.
My suggestion for you would be to try your dracaena with tap water and, if it responds badly, in a while you can switch to bottled. Generally this houseplant is bulletproof and, while I've outlined an ideal care guide in this video, many dracaenas are grown in less than optimal conditions and still do well. Hope this helps.
The tree overall is doing well, however there is one branch that had 3 sprouts coming out and they were completely limp. And where they attached to the trunk they were very soft like they had too much water. I cut them off at the base. Was this correct? I'm not sure why that happened though. As I said, the rest of the tree is doing great. Help!

Hi Rachel, I have a pair of these in my house but they've grown so high they are hitting the roof and bending over. My mum said I might be able to cut the top quarter and replant it and it should continue to grow. Is that correct? Any tips on how to do this? Thanks.
As mentioned in the video, draecena is unfussy and doesn't need regular repotting. However, if you think it is time then be sure not to overpot and only use a pot of the next size up. Use any good, well-drained potting mix.
Some leaf loss is normal, especially if it's the older leaves from the underside of the plant. If lots of leaves are dropping, this is not normal and the most common cause is over watering. Ensure your soul dries out completely between waterings and that the plant isn't sitting in water! Hope this helps.

Inconsistent watering is probably the reason for your spots. But over watering in winter really is not a good idea

Well, never say never. How does the medium look? Is it smelly? Dracaena is quite unfussy about repotting.

The dracaena doesn't usually need support as it grows. It produces a woody trunk. And, yes, just use a damp rag to wipe the leaves.

I think you did the right thing. A little powdered cinnamon on the would would have helped dry it up quickly and avoid infection.

Your mum is right. You can absolutely do that with this type of dracaena.

Why are my green leaves falling out
