You'd have to include various planetary disasters, pandemics, wars and other setbacks - if there is a singularity, it won't be available to everyone, no matter how inclusive it gets - there'll always be some that reject the dominant paradigm.
This scenario completely leaves out the cussedness of things and the vagaries of human nature, otherwise called Murphy's Law.

We live in an incredibly important part of history.

    •  4 месяца назад

If true self-aware superintelligent AI gets created, it probably won't be that long before it makes factory-like places where all humans get rolled thru and get a connection stamped into us.
Ooooh won't it be grand, soon nothing natural left. Our consciousnesses will become artificial, we won't understand reality the same way anymore. Not unlikely that some will go crazy. And of course, millions (heh billions more likely) of "useless" will probably hang in the balance, life-wise.
      It will be soooo cozy.

The limitations of physics present a formidable barrier to faster-than-light travel. Even approaching the speed of light would require immense energy, pushing the boundaries of known possibilities. The concept of warping spacetime, while intriguing, remains purely theoretical at this point. Thus, interstellar voyages will likely remain confined to the realm of science fiction for the foreseeable future. Humanity's exploration of the cosmos must rely on ingenuity within the confines of natural laws.

I'm 39 now so I'll probably pass away in the 2060's. Maybe earlier if something comes up. There were quite a bit of advancements between 1999 and now so in 2049 it wouldn't surprise me if technology got more advanced. I think AI will start to get advanced in the 2030's. I wouldn't be surprised if we finally get an AI that can have a full conversation with us by the 2050's.

Alan Turning warned us about A.I. when he went about creating it. His machine & all his work was scattered amongst the world's superpowers. Don't think for a second progress was achieved by humans alone. All our advancements were calculations made by A.I. thru the ages.

It is not possible to know the speed of innovation beyond ASI (the so called intelligence sungularity). For this reason timelines are unknown. What is likely is that it will happen far more quickly than most people imagine. Even so, assuming that Physics itself will be so malleable is a stretch. Will it be incredible? Absolutely.

We better get tech to knock away all the stuff that can hit us from space 1st. This could be where we ended up if given the chance but more days I live and see I just don't know if we have the ability to put our petty differences aside and take care of each other so we can do these things. Our egos, money and power always get in the way.
