I received a proposal to work as bartender at virgin. Accepted. Can't wait for it. After 2 contracts in another company, this one seems to be awesome. Thank you for the hints
I work for another cruise brand in a senior position but I was really interested to watch this video. Virgin is one of my favorite brands and I am a share holder in Virgin. One thing that did surprise me quite allot was the comment about depending on how many stripes someone is wearing determines how much respect you give them or how important they are to you. In the words of Tom Hardy I was raised to treat the janitor with the same respect as the CEO. I treat our Galley Stewards with the same high standard that I treat our Captain, warmly welcome them on board into our family. Without all of our crew we wouldn't have a business.
Yup totally outstanding, could be good and bad.. The truth if crew cabins is not sharing cabin is amazing for cruise industry's, I hope could be part of virgin voyage company.
A really interesting video - as much as some don't seem sure about VV from a passenger point of view it sounds like overall they've NAILED it for crew members! I'm sure a lot will change post launch as well as the company settles in
I worked as a shoppie on Princess in my early 20's, had the time of my life! I'm in my early 40's now and really tempted to go back!! Would that be crazy? Only thing I think I'd struggle with is the shared cabins/bunk beds 😳
I almost do it around the same age. Didn’t because I am married otherwise I would have. Do it if you want to and can. But same for me, shared cabin is not for me.
Enjoyed your video, mate. However, after ten years on ships, I feel that VV have really shined when it comes to the crews food. Perhaps you got lucky with your previous ships ;) Hope to see you onboard soon.
I thought you said in other videos that the food is much better on virgin? I've been binging your videos so maybe those are newer, but you showed how they had fruit and all different on the crew mess
I worked for IKEA for 4 years both in the UK and Australia, and I loved how everyone wore the same uniform. It made a real sense of equality throughout the business
How would you compare it to working for norvegian or ccl etc? I always loved virgin as a brand (from the iconic megastores from back in the day,to their airline) and that’s my main question, given that I have worked on cruises before, what would be the difference ?
Have you worked on one of Carnival UK ships before preferably P and O cruises? I think I saw you on Oceana before, it's great that you are now in Virgin cruises. Was planning to apply with this company as they have bigger salary and good benefits onboard for crewmembers. Love your vlog 😉
I love the fact u explain this an am going to apply with this company and just by the way u speak verry clearly makes me comfortable am a see you on one of this ships thanks for ur assistance an just one thing just should of made video of the crew cabin🇱🇨🤙🤙😎
Thank you for these videos. I've been looking into doing this because I have a crep job and I'd like to try something completely different. And if I apply for a company I want to work for the one that will treat me the best and it sounds like Virgin cruise lines is the best 1.
Not sharing the cabin 😮, wow I struggle always with that and I only have one other person. Struggle with the other person wanting to leave the air conditioner off, it is a tiny room!. Free WiFi!! I wish I had those benefits. Roof top Bar and Jacuzzi! Is it available to the F&B crew? I bet they are the one sleeping in the share cabin. Royal did have a crew mess and a staff mess distinction, but they said we can mingle on any of them. I like the Pros. I worked from 12 to 17 hours sometime. With either a morning or afternoon off, F&B is always like that. Standard.
Lucy, I don't know if you could do this because Virgin might not like it. The Scarlet Lady is quite controversial in its design. I would like to know what you, your mates, and the guests thought of the ship. I know over here at Princess the ships are evolutionary, updating the tried and true. The piazza, main dining rooms, pools, decor etc. are based upon what the guests know and like so its like putting on your favorite sweater. Your thoughts?
Hi Lucy, do you have any idea how do they get to choose which crew will get a single cabin.? I mean officers and staff will surely do get one. But how about the others like the ones who usually do share a cabin in other cruiseships?
If you work for Royal or Celebrity then it’s better to switch to Virgin. If you work for Carnival or Cunard then stay where you are. Carnival has the best crew life and treat their crew amazing! Other lines often mock them for being the cheaper cruise on the market for passengers but they have the best situation for crew and the best retirement packages. Celebrity officers are snobs and I know because my husband was one. Carnival cleans your cabin sometimes twice a day where as Virgin and Royal you need to clean it yourself. Virgin doesn’t even have someone pick up your rubbish or a trash can in your room. And their cabins are the smallest cabins out there. Virgin does have the best laundry onboard with enough machines and the soap is free. Water is free, still and sparkling and WiFi is free. The only good thing about them is the salary and being part of something new.
I was on Carnival and Royal 6 contracts each,,Msc 1 contract,,currently on Viking waiting for my 4th contract...You're telling me that Carnival has the best life for crew and are treated well, even better than on Royal?...Are you sure we're talking about the same companies,,cos Royal is truly amazing place for crew...
Hey hun..I came across your channel recently and I'm so grateful! Your content is so helpful! I recently applied for a position on another cruise line and I am excited to work my first contract with them; Like you mentioned in another video, that sense of pride! My plan was to skill up after my contract ended and apply for another position in my career path. However, the culture that Virgin Voyages seem to be about speaks to my soul! I would give more to a company that is evidently making it their business to do away with separation based on rank and status, through the quality of food available to crew, or where a crew member gets to eat, or whether they deserve their own space. They seem to get it. Crew members deserve to be taken care of in ways that will really add to their experience. Simple yet valuable changes! Honestly, if came across this vid before I applied to the other cruise line, I definitely would have applied to Virgin Voyages first. But, it is what it is, I will take the experience with the other cruise line and make the most of it. When my contract is coming to an end though, I will be applying to Virgin, for my other contracts.
This sound amazing compared to princess (Princess is an excellent company but it has many cons) crew mates in princes are wonderful people but management in general is a mess (talking today idk what's going to happen in the future) I remember sharing cabin with other 3 girls (lovely canin mates btw) but it was really uncomfortable cuz we didn't had privacy and the crew cabins are really old and need some maintenance but even if you call to the office they don't do much
Do we get indian food there every day in the crew mess as in curry and can you tell me the working hours in bar is it more then 10 hours. Please reply whenever you get time thanks GOD BLESS YOU ALWAYS
Hi-I have a couple questions for anyone who has worked on a cruise ship. Are the crews paying back some of their paycheck to live on board? What about food and other expenses? Anyone's help advising would be fantastic!
I have an important question, does Virgin employ people from Egypt because he sent me a work contract that is supposed to be from Virgin, and how much is the chef assistant’s salary? Please, I want an answer with definite information because it is very important
I want to stop caming back to MSC, I lived trilling moments there, but I wanna move on and learn new things. I worked in restaurant department and I would love if somebody give me the information about how is the work like in restaurants on board virgin cruise.
It depends on whether you think this is the life for you. If you feel it is, then try it out. With your experience you could likely be an assistant chief housekeeper on the hotel side or maybe a head waiter on the restaurant side. Also a senior purser. I am a Passenger Services Director which used to be called the Chief Purser.
There are psychological aspects with uniforms. Certainly it makes the staff feel more relaxed. However, in the case of emergencies this may play a factor. Not to mention ordering around the passengers

The greatest drawback for Virgin is that they have 1 ship right now. Princess has 15. You have to think about the ability to be promoted. Whatever job you do you should think about your next move. Plus with 15 ships you will see the world that much faster.
I would disagree with that. They have plans for new ships and the second one has already been floated. If you get in early with one ship, as soon as they have to double their crewing, you're more likely to get promoted. If they weren't expanding, I would agree with your comment but knowing they will be running at least 4 ships in a few years, it can be a good opportunity.
@@shanestories You make a good point. The problem is Virgin is so new, they hired most of their people from other cruise lines. Look at Lucy, she hired on from another cruise line.
