I've always been intrigued by this revolver. Especially at this time in our nations unfolding history, it makes a lot of sense to have such a versatile hand gun.
I bought this for my wife. She absolutely loves revolvers and this meets so many needs. We can shoot all the 9mm we want for fun and keep high quality 357mag rounds in it for home defense or being out in the woods. It’s way too bulky to carry around town as an edc but it’s a great woods gun and home defense pistol.
That's definitely an interesting revolver with the extra cylinder giving more options for cartridge selection. Funny this popped up as I'm editing a wheelgun video myself! Those .357mag were definitely cooking out of that 3" barrel. Not too familiar with the 9x18, but obviously the case dimensions are slightly larger like you mention. Nice observation on the similarity between the .38 super and 9mm +P. Not sure there's many folks shooting that cartridge these days. Really cool testing...that revolver sure in a winner in the versatility department.
@@ChristianGrest yes it is interesting because a 357 mag can be .357 or.358. 9mm is .355 to .356. 380 I'm sure is .355. Sounds like a hot dog in a hallway to me. That's a term we used In high-school for big girls. Latter life too

I had the Taurus Tracker in 41 Magnum 20 years ago. Very accurate, great little gun. My ears would ring after a few rounds with good ear muffs, would have to wear ear plugs and muffs to enjoy shooting it. I would never want to fire a magnum cartridge in a short ported barrel without hearing protection. A ported barrel in a defensive or hunting revolver makes no sense to me. Nice review!
yeah trigger bar, makarov projo is .010 larger (.365) than standard .355 9mm nato and others. and no better performance wise than the .380 so yeah, you ain't missing anything for sure!! Great video brother, keep em coming!!
You beat me to it, in pointing out the diameter of the 9x18 Makarov. The bullets I use are .364 for 9x18. I agree with you on the 380acp vs 9x18 makarov basically splitting hairs as far as performance goes.
Did you say .380 out of a 3 inch ported Taurus revolver? I think the order for your custom leather holster from Turkey just got "lost". Missed the premier this morning, Mother Nature dropped 16 inches of snow on us Friday (SE Wisconsin). Not just snow, WET snow. Trees down, tens of thousands without power and the plows just couldn't keep up. It's a mess. I've been curious about this revolver for some time now. Nice to see a complete review throwing everything through it. Thx, 👍👍
yah very true. I've heard it only effects it about 25 fps so not much. But I need to test with like a 4" to account for the cylinder or another 3" revolver! ;-)
I think that is totally cool. I have I believe it's a Smith & Wesson model 610 I could be wrong that shoots 10 mm. It uses Moon clips and I really hate Moon Clips. I just dropped a set of plastic Chopsticks in my range bag. They come in handy. great video.
oh, and you can use the 9mm clips with 380. Its a loose fit and you have hold your tongue just right when handling it to keep them from falling out. But it does work and they will extract.
Any comment on trigger pull weight, and feel in single action? I wouldn't expect anything too great, but it didn't seem too gritty, rolling in double action. I noticed Taurus might be running batches of revolvers again, where they were generally out of stock for a while. I used to shoot quite a bit of 38 spec wadcutter, really fun and one could usually count on great accuracy.
@@triggerbarPhD Thanks TB, I've seen some of the reports that the medium frame Taurus revolvers had surprisingly good SA triggers. Gotta hand it to them for holding the line on reasonable prices, and the tracker line looks handy. Maybe, it's time to pick one up, while they're available.

Love my 692, I put a Wolff spring kit in and it cut trigger pull drastically. Buttery smooth and have had no light primer strikes. Highly recommend this revolver lots of fun!
If the 9mm cylinder was bored out just a bit to acommodate the extra length, you could shoot the 38 Super out of it, with the moonclips. Of course, you wouldn't be able to shoot 9mm without the clips after that. OR, you could have the 357 cylinder cut for moon clips.
I own a 692 3" barrel and like it mucho! I do have the 380 moon clips and is testing them out I found the the HP rounds failed at least 40% or more. However using the .380 FMJ ammo I have worked without a failure.
How's the speed of the 357 compare to a dedicated 357 reblvolver. I ask because 9mm has a diameter of .355 so I wonder if this particular taurus has a tighter barrel that causes more friction with 38 and 357.
I believe the gun is really built around the .357 cartridge to it’s looser for the 9mm. I was surprised at the speed of the 9mm because I thought that would be where it was less. I don’t have another .38 or 357 to compare against unfortunately but on 9mm it’s pretty close which surprised me. The .357 and 38 rounds seems pretty normal to me and what the box is saying.
Yes. I have two subsequent videos on this topic. Tk customs sells moon clips that hold the 380 round for the 692. I’d get them. However, watch my video. Some types of 380 acp don’t seem to work well with it.
Yes for sure, I lump that in the 38 special category but probably shouldn’t!! Since it uses the same cylinder that’s rated for 357 magnum it can easily handle the 38 special +p!

I need to get the 380 acp moon clips and when I do I’ll do another video and make sure to include this. Thanks and hope this helps!
I definitely would recommend a 38 spl type gun for a woman’s purse but this one is pretty heavy so not sure how much she’d like it and my wife’s fingers aren’t strong enough to pull the trigger. She has to use two fingers. If you get one, I’d make sure she tried it in a store to make sure she can pull the trigger with one finger or what ever revolver she gets.
