Production value(cameras, lenses, lighting) is overrated when it comes to this type of content imo, audio quality is important and that was more than decent.

That ESP V with the reverse banana headstock was so badass! Definitely his best signature imo

If Dimebag and Randy Rhoads can have countless signature series guitars come out long after they've died, then I don't see why Kerry King can't have a signature series come out after Slayer is done. It's all marketing ploys anyways. The price is ridiculous, but I can see a cheaper version coming out later.
They didn't change the guitar shape of the first two guys. Dime and RR played those guitars. I don't think you have to be in am active band to have a signature though.

There are boutique guitar builders who use much more expensive materials and electronics in their builds and they still don't charge 7,000 dollars. I can order an Aristides with an Evertune and Bareknuckles for like half the price.
Look, that guitar deserved a video of a quality that isn't up to your standards. No need to apologise for the quality of the video. I too am a Slayer and Kerry King fan. I feel the same way as you about those guitars.

My guess is that it's so hideous that only the diehard's and collectors would buy it, so instead of having a low price to sell more guitars, they have a high price to get the most out of the few they might manage to sell.
I like that guitar from the shape perspective, it looks pretty ergonomic.
Apparently Kerry had originally wanted telecaster pickups and a bigsby but Dean said nah, that'll look ugly...
Actually the earwig V was a 1.5-2K guitar if you bought the import. This is a custom shop USA, even the USA earwig V was insanely expensive (6-7K). No idea why Kerry has a second signature, though, he’s carrying Dean at this point endorsement wise I suppose.
Also extreme looking custom shop guitars having insane prices is nothing new (look at the price of Alexi Wild Scythes, ESP Snakebytes, Washburn Dimes and so forth), they can reach even in excess of 10K. Whether they’re worth it or not is highly debatable, but I guess it comes as a surprise to those who think only Fender strats and Gibsons justify such an amount, or think a standard USA strat is automatically a far better instrument.
Lastly, the Dean USA Custom Shop has been around for a while, they do make high quality stuff (look at the Dean Southern Cross with Chondro Guitars). Regardless of what you think of the brand.
If Gibson would stop suing Dean for a minute, then maybe they wouldn’t have to charge such a stupid price…just saying 🤣

Let’s be real, King’s best Signature guitars are his Vs, almost any other shape he comes up with looks what an 8-13 year old thinks is cool.
1. His original Dean USA custom shop was $5,999 - the import was $1399 MSRP
2. He was very happy when they handed him the guitar, I happened to be in Dean's booth when he came in.
Kerry's signature gear has always been visually distinctive, even though its strange to have signature gear when you're not currently in the music business, the gear itself is cool regardless who designed it. I think the new guitar looks pretty ugly though. The price is roughly the same as an ESP Custom.
RUclips algorithm sent me here because KK was mentioned. In summary, you don't like this guitar because of it's looks and that's okay, you're not supposed to. I just looked at your other videos of the guitars that you DO like, and if you had liked this one too, it would have to be redesigned. Even if they all sound the same, there is a REASON some people want a metal guitar that looks different.
Why’d he leave BC Rich??? I love Warlock guitars. I’m 6’0” and have an LTD and I love it but the frets are way too big to stretch super far like Marty Friedman. The frets on the BC Rich are tiny so you can really stretch.

IIRC, the USA version of his previous Dean model was in the region of $5.000 plus.? it;s not exactly a secret Dean are a mess at the moment, and maybe some of that price is going into KK's pocket.

This was a beautiful guitar lots of great specs on it got to see it in person , to hate on a guitar you didn't see yourself is reaching.

First off let me say I'm not a fan of Carrie King at all. He might as well be Atlantis morissette? The guitar looks kind of like a BC Rich mated with a Jackson warrior! I call his signature V the earwig v. This one's a little bit better but you got to get rid of those dated kaylor trim bars....

Speaking of the solar masterbuilt series, a set neck for 3.5k isn’t much better…
Some people never understand price has nothing to do with the way the neck is attached. Even the most high end custom Fenders still have bolt on necks. All Fenders do, that's the point of Fenders. Solars use Set-in necks, as does Gibson and many other companies.
Comparing price to anything other than build quality or performance makes you look like a beginner

But i’m pretty sure you haven’t touched either the V or this X shape, you just wanted some views, whatever… In my opinion, neck construction is a build quality component. Your argument about fender/gibson to me is invalid (considering they make much more expensive garbage than this, and it’s well known how overpriced most of their stuff is anyway), my point is you can find neck-thru solars for half the money, and it’s a massive manufacturing cost difference… check the trans purple S series if you’re so sure they use set necks..

Although I do agree that these King Dean guitars are over priced....the price that you quoted for his 1st Dean guitar at $2000 is for the import version. The USA version is much more....too much. I own a Dean USA custom shop guitar....got it for $1200 and it's absolutely my best guitar. Not only does it play beautifully but it hangs just right on the strap...no neck dive

Headstock is okay.... rest of the guitar not so much. Never really got into warlocks or V's though.
I don’t agree with him not being relevant enough for a signature guitar because he’s still a name in the guitar world, even if Slayer doesn’t exist anymore. It’s kind of like saying that there shouldn’t be Jimi Hendrix or Dimebag signature stuff because they’re dead.
That being said, I do agree that his guitar is ugly as hell and waaaaaay overpriced.
This makes me look back on my Warlock kinda fondly, and that was the very worst shaped guitar I've ever played

I like Kerry’s BC Rich guitars. I’ve never liked Dean guitars. Kerry’s name on a Dean doesn’t make me want it. I did try out his signature Dean V. I wanted to like it. I tried to like it. I hated the neck. It felt too thick for me. The new model just looks like add to me. I don’t even want to try it out.
