As a 53 year old player, I was around during BC Rich's heyday and personally I think you summed up their "situation" about as accurately as one could. The reality is that they are competing against brands that just know how to do it better than them- and they have not been able to leverage their legacy like other brands have over the years. This guy is just looking for someone to flame- and he wants some strange level of notoriety for having been part of the BC Rich legacy. I think it's pretty clear that his part was a very small one at best. I don't know if you have blow-hards like this in Europe, but in the US there are a fair amount of these jagoffs going around proclaiming there importance which is really nonexistent. I kind of think it's an unfortunate part of our culture here. Anyhow- I just wanted to say I really love your channel. You bring a level of humor that can be off-putting for some, but quite frankly I love it. Don't change a thing, there are a lot of people out there that need to hear criticism whether they like it or not. I include myself in that as well.

I actually used to be a personal friend of Dave Cohen. He legitimately went crazy after being fired from BC Rich. He was the head of the custom shop for a while, and I would email / Facebook message him as a BC Rich player, and he was a pretty cool guy. But after he was fired (Moser told me it was because of his potty mouth), he legit went crazy and couldn't stop yelling on camera. At one point, he even tried making his own guitar company to "take BC Rich's customers."

If BC Rich cared as much as this guy seems to, they'd never have stopped having their imports being built in Korea, and moved production to China, or Indonesia, or wherever they moved it to.. The quality drop was unfathomable, and moved the company far closer to the grave than any 11teen year old ever could.. and I say that as a guy who owns multiple BC Rich guitars, and would buy more if the quality control and value for your money were anywhere near what they used to be.. 😔
I watched the doc 'the original charvel gang' and I believe b.c. rich had a similar history of the guys that were doing the building just wanted to keep building and a lot of weirdness went on on the business end of things... Just as a player who has watched bcs go from super rare unobtainium to being sold at every little FYE in malls across America.

KY and we had (and still have somehow) a killer local shop but there were also a ton of little flea market stalls and things like that that had musical related stuff... I can remember all the little bs shops and vendors mall dealers etc were suddenly flooded with tons of warlocks... The occasional mockingbird... But a buddy has one and went to mess with modding it... IDK what it was made out of but it was some type of bright pink particulate wood like material lol.

A couple points to make about Dave Kohen: 1. I'm probably not far from him in age, but I'm wise enough to take medication for my high blood pressure. (There are many effective treatments these days.) 2. He makes no effort to address any of the well-thought-out points Kaylen raised about BC Rich, resorting instead to cheap personal attacks that prove nothing. ...so if you ask me who the more mature one is, my vote would go to the host of Sixstringtv.

I've been a BC Rich geek since 1998. Dave Cohen has been a plague on the BC Rich community. He nearly killed the brand with his ego. His actions in his videos speak for themselves.
A mature response here. Well done for practicing restraint! He clearly lost his temper. I say this as a big fan of BC Rich guitars. He could have stated his opinions a lot more calmly. He has a point about the legacy of the company. Their years between 1978 and 1984 saw some of the most beautiful and unique guitars in the history of guitar building. I would also suggest checking out the rather wonderful work of master luthier Neal Moser and some of their more recent models are quite stunning. But yeah, Mr Cohen was much too angry. There are more effective ways of debating such things!

Certain things have come to light on social media regarding Dave. Be careful around him. He has nothing to do with BC Rich and they are very unhappy with his involvement, not least the publishing of this video. Be aware that certain members of the BC Rich company do not want to be connected with this outburst and it should ideally be disassociated from the company. I actually feel sorry for them with the amount of bad press they are unwittingly garnering right now.
A year later but I still fully support the message at the end of this video. Bring back the kind of company that B.C. Rich was under Bernie Rico, the founder.
BC Rich should make a signature model about Dave. Broken beer bottle glass and empty packs of cigarettes, and pissed stained toilet seat plastic in an epoxy mold. Then make sure that no matter how much you try , it can never stay in tune with the rest of the world, no frets ends are polished and all the knobs and the five way selector switch knob is missing. The strings on the tuning keys are not clipped and there is no strap buttons.
Chris Poland used to work for B.C Rich so he kind of set up Megadeth to play them on their first two albums (I am always looking for an early 80's Mockingbird Bass because those were great back in the day).
3 months after he was fired they “shit the bed” at Namm. Usually companies have their plans set in stone that close to a trade show. So either his input wasn’t valued at all, or his input led them down that path. Unless his title as head of the custom shop is more like an Assistant Manager at a McDonalds. No real authority to do anything.
not sure why this video popped up in my recommended feed again, but after i saw it the first time i pulled the trigger and bought a really nice Ironbird that was in my watchlist beckoning me to rescue it... and what a great guitar it is, for metal. it is true that the current company management needs some work, and a marketing overhaul. however, that doesn't mean the brand itself is tarnished forever. even if the company folded and ceased to exist tomorrow, their legacy wouldn't be identified by the current import models, or the stranger things model. i'd still seek out the past models i personally liked. you gotta remember, the company has been around since the late 60's building awesome guitars. there's many good ones out there all the time on second hand markets, but you need to sort your search with most expensive descending to see them. i'm not ragging on your video, although i do see it as basic drama incitement without much value. i'm sure running a multimillion dollar guitar company can be quite challenging without huge amounts of overhead funds like jackson got when they were bought by fender. you want to review nice specimens of bc rich guitars? find a usa model, then you'll see the drastic difference between that and most of their import line, the exact same as you would any other guitar company's line of usa made versus import models. sorry for rant novel. peace.

USA vs Imports are very different and it doesn’t help that BC Rich flooded the market place with very low end guitars. I also play Gibson. I’m a member of BC Rich Junkies as well. I've owned many basses from this company, I also love the shapes, the history and really wanted this restart of the company to bring the back to the top they were back in the day. I do understand that the last couple of years were rough on the company due to certain global events. What I can't understand is why they're still NOT listening to what the average consumer of this brand wants. Talking from the POV of a bass player who's also a fan of the company, who asked for a Widow? Especially one with OEM pickups, hardware etc, the old Chinese blueprints with minor changes on the necks, bodies etc. Who asked for a Mockingbird with PJ pickups slapped on the old designs once again? Every day I see people in threads begging for classic shapes such as the ST-III bass (superstrat type body and neck), the Gunslinger bass (P style body with PJ pups), a Shredzilla bass (with modern specs, fanfret boards etc) and classic shapes such as the Beast, Warlock (not the FFDP monstrosity), Ironbird (people have been begging for this one for over a decade and a half) and many others. There are multiple basses and guitars they could bring into production that people ask constantly and yet they don't. Nobody asked for Japanese imports, nobody asked for overpriced American custom lines that aren't custom and nobody cares if the guitars are made in Korea or Indonesia as long as they're of good quality and are checked properly. Ibanez and many other huge companies have been using these factories for their cheapest up to some of the most expensive lines they got for many years now. Bottom line is that I want to support the company but they need to actually produce something that people want to buy. Being told "It's coming" is getting old after three years. Edit: Allow me to add the the BC Rich Facebook groups are places were extremely knowledgeable people hang around, who are always eager to help with pretty much any questions you may have. Some great people indeed. Having said that, these groups are also some of the most toxic and annoying places you'll hang around. Many times you'll make a thread for your instrument, be it a question, a NGD post, criticisms etc and a few certain people will flood the comments spamming you with photos of their collections of unplayed, case queen guitars. And it won't be one comment per person, but a comment for each individual instrument and a copy n pasted history on how they got it. Instead of getting help, advice or a "congrats" on your new purchase, you get flooded with comments about their collection every single time as if they haven't already made hundreds of copy pasted posts about them, spammed each comment section and annoyed the f out of you.
Gotta love his point about how he knows people who could outplay you. Why tf is that even important? Is he gonna send some gang of bc rich players to have a shred battle against you in an alleyway or some shit? Cause that’s what it sounds like
I have two BC Rich's. One from the 1990s made in China that is marked as a factory second, and is terrible but looks cool. The other is one of the first of the guitars made in the relaunch a few years ago. 20 of its 24 frets are perfectly fine. It was my number one for a long time. If there's anyone he should be going off on, it's BC Rich quality control, which is apparently under his leadership if one was to take his words seriously. Does he ever counter your points, or does he just rant about how terrible you are for exposing the problems? If anything, you should probably show that video to the authorities. Somehow he believes violence against you will solve BC Rich's scam problem.

The quality drop was unfathomable, and moved the company far closer to the grave than any 11teen year old ever could.. and I say that as a guy who owns multiple BC Rich guitars, and would buy more if the quality control and value for your money were anywhere near what they used to be.. 😔
I watched the doc 'the original charvel gang' and I believe b.c. rich had a similar history of the guys that were doing the building just wanted to keep building and a lot of weirdness went on on the business end of things... Just as a player who has watched bcs go from super rare unobtainium to being sold at every little FYE in malls across America.

KY and we had (and still have somehow) a killer local shop but there were also a ton of little flea market stalls and things like that that had musical related stuff... I can remember all the little bs shops and vendors mall dealers etc were suddenly flooded with tons of warlocks... The occasional mockingbird... But a buddy has one and went to mess with modding it... IDK what it was made out of but it was some type of bright pink particulate wood like material lol.

A mature response here. Well done for practicing restraint! He clearly lost his temper. I say this as a big fan of BC Rich guitars. He could have stated his opinions a lot more calmly. He has a point about the legacy of the company. Their years between 1978 and 1984 saw some of the most beautiful and unique guitars in the history of guitar building. I would also suggest checking out the rather wonderful work of master luthier Neal Moser and some of their more recent models are quite stunning. But yeah, Mr Cohen was much too angry. There are more effective ways of debating such things!

Certain things have come to light on social media regarding Dave. Be careful around him. He has nothing to do with BC Rich and they are very unhappy with his involvement, not least the publishing of this video. Be aware that certain members of the BC Rich company do not want to be connected with this outburst and it should ideally be disassociated from the company. I actually feel sorry for them with the amount of bad press they are unwittingly garnering right now.
They should file a legal claim against him for misrepresentation.

BC Rich should make a signature model about Dave. Broken beer bottle glass and empty packs of cigarettes, and pissed stained toilet seat plastic in an epoxy mold. Then make sure that no matter how much you try , it can never stay in tune with the rest of the world, no frets ends are polished and all the knobs and the five way selector switch knob is missing. The strings on the tuning keys are not clipped and there is no strap buttons.

Chris Poland used to work for B.C Rich so he kind of set up Megadeth to play them on their first two albums (I am always looking for an early 80's Mockingbird Bass because those were great back in the day).
3 months after he was fired they “shit the bed” at Namm. Usually companies have their plans set in stone that close to a trade show. So either his input wasn’t valued at all, or his input led them down that path. Unless his title as head of the custom shop is more like an Assistant Manager at a McDonalds. No real authority to do anything.

not sure why this video popped up in my recommended feed again, but after i saw it the first time i pulled the trigger and bought a really nice Ironbird that was in my watchlist beckoning me to rescue it... and what a great guitar it is, for metal. it is true that the current company management needs some work, and a marketing overhaul. however, that doesn't mean the brand itself is tarnished forever. even if the company folded and ceased to exist tomorrow, their legacy wouldn't be identified by the current import models, or the stranger things model. i'd still seek out the past models i personally liked. you gotta remember, the company has been around since the late 60's building awesome guitars. there's many good ones out there all the time on second hand markets, but you need to sort your search with most expensive descending to see them. i'm not ragging on your video, although i do see it as basic drama incitement without much value. i'm sure running a multimillion dollar guitar company can be quite challenging without huge amounts of overhead funds like jackson got when they were bought by fender. you want to review nice specimens of bc rich guitars? find a usa model, then you'll see the drastic difference between that and most of their import line, the exact same as you would any other guitar company's line of usa made versus import models. sorry for rant novel. peace.

I love your channel and I’m m a sub too. I’m an owner of a 1988 USA Warlock that I’ve owned over 20 years. She plays great. I recall watching your BC Rich videos and even liking them. USA vs Imports are very different and it doesn’t help that BC Rich flooded the market place with very low end guitars. I also play Gibson. I’m a member of BC Rich Junkies as well. I’ll have look at his post. Either way, I’m on your side. Dude from BC Rich acted poorly.

I've owned many basses from this company, I also love the shapes, the history and really wanted this restart of the company to bring the back to the top they were back in the day.
I do understand that the last couple of years were rough on the company due to certain global events. What I can't understand is why they're still NOT listening to what the average consumer of this brand wants.
Talking from the POV of a bass player who's also a fan of the company, who asked for a Widow? Especially one with OEM pickups, hardware etc, the old Chinese blueprints with minor changes on the necks, bodies etc. Who asked for a Mockingbird with PJ pickups slapped on the old designs once again?
Every day I see people in threads begging for classic shapes such as the ST-III bass (superstrat type body and neck), the Gunslinger bass (P style body with PJ pups), a Shredzilla bass (with modern specs, fanfret boards etc) and classic shapes such as the Beast, Warlock (not the FFDP monstrosity), Ironbird (people have been begging for this one for over a decade and a half) and many others.
There are multiple basses and guitars they could bring into production that people ask constantly and yet they don't. Nobody asked for Japanese imports, nobody asked for overpriced American custom lines that aren't custom and nobody cares if the guitars are made in Korea or Indonesia as long as they're of good quality and are checked properly. Ibanez and many other huge companies have been using these factories for their cheapest up to some of the most expensive lines they got for many years now.
Bottom line is that I want to support the company but they need to actually produce something that people want to buy. Being told "It's coming" is getting old after three years.

Allow me to add the the BC Rich Facebook groups are places were extremely knowledgeable people hang around, who are always eager to help with pretty much any questions you may have. Some great people indeed.
Having said that, these groups are also some of the most toxic and annoying places you'll hang around. Many times you'll make a thread for your instrument, be it a question, a NGD post, criticisms etc and a few certain people will flood the comments spamming you with photos of their collections of unplayed, case queen guitars.
And it won't be one comment per person, but a comment for each individual instrument and a copy n pasted history on how they got it. Instead of getting help, advice or a "congrats" on your new purchase, you get flooded with comments about their collection every single time as if they haven't already made hundreds of copy pasted posts about them, spammed each comment section and annoyed the f out of you.

I have two BC Rich's. One from the 1990s made in China that is marked as a factory second, and is terrible but looks cool. The other is one of the first of the guitars made in the relaunch a few years ago. 20 of its 24 frets are perfectly fine. It was my number one for a long time. If there's anyone he should be going off on, it's BC Rich quality control, which is apparently under his leadership if one was to take his words seriously. Does he ever counter your points, or does he just rant about how terrible you are for exposing the problems? If anything, you should probably show that video to the authorities. Somehow he believes violence against you will solve BC Rich's scam problem.
