      My favorites are Almond or Cashew. Depending on how I want to use the milk. I find cashew nice and thick so I tend to use it for pasta dishes or anything that I’d use cream for. Plain Almond most for everything else, and almond milk with vanilla and dates for when I want a little sweetness

      I made oat milk this morning with chickpeas. 3C water, 1C ice, 1/4C chickpeas. It doesn't taste as good as Califi Oat milk by itself. But it was delicious with cereal. It surprised me how long it took to squeeze out the milk in the bag. But, it's worth the work. Thank you. I can't wait to make the creamer next

    If you use cold water it won’t get slimy even after a minute or two of blending. Thank you for sharing this video!

      That has not been my experience even with cold water. 30 seconds is plenty in my Vitamix for it to get super creamy. Thank you for sharing ♥️

      Also, using a bit of the enzyme amylase converts the starch to sugar and eliminates the "slime". It's the digestive enzyme in saliva that breaks down starches, and is also used in wine and beer making to convert starches in grains.

    Thank you for this recipe. Going to the grocery right now to get cashews so I can make it, haha. 🤩 I've been feeling weird about the additives in most oat milk lately, so this is a perfect alternative!

      Debi, How long do you blend the second time when you make the creamer so that it doesn't go slimy? I have only made oat milk once and I ended up with slime so haven't had the courage to try it again. I am hooked on vanilla Oatley and would love to try your creamer. I have a Soy Bella and make my own soy milk about once a week. I make 3 batches which ends up yielding about 1 gallon. I store it in 2 64oz mason jars. We use it in oatmeal, Rip's "cereal", smoothies and in recipes. It's a huge money saver and I now have a lot less waste - no more milk containers!

    Oat milk! I’ve tried making my own before, came out slimy. Thinking of giving yours a try.

    I made this. My coffee was still pretty dark. It didn't make the color of the coffee lighter, also I strained it like you did. Still a lot of sediments in my cup

    • @ChewonVegan
      @ChewonVegan  4 месяца назад

      Because there are no fillers or gums you will find some sentiment in the bottom of your cup. If use use less water it will be thicker and should make your coffee a bit lighter but it will not be like commercial creamers.

    Definitely making this, I use straight soy milk and a little maple syrup. I prefer it to be thicker creamer so this will be perfect. I also can eliminate the maple
    Syrup. Do you think it would last a week? Thanks for sharing!

    I noticed you used dates for sweetening. A plant based Sweetener I like using is Stevia, but with post pandemic inflation, I'm thinking of coming off that. Are there any nutritional reasons why dates would be better than Stevia besides the fiber and cost?

    • @ChewonVegan
      @ChewonVegan  Год назад

      I like using dates because they are not a processed food They have an excellent nutritional profile, they are rich in potassium, magnesium, copper, Iron, B6 and manganese. And of course the fiber.

      @@ChewonVeganOh my LAWRD thank you for sharing this recipe!
      I didn't have any cashews, so I used a cheap bag of Hazelnuts from Lidl and air fryer roasted them to break them down more easily (mind you, light but careful pulses on my food processor after letting them cool). I just left out the vanilla extract.
      There's a huge difference in hazelnut taste from store bought hazelnut creamer. I love it. 💜

      I think they do. I drink the four sigmatic in the morning and I will drink the dandy blend if I want a second cup in the morning or if I want one at night. I love them both equally. It just depends on what you want to use them for.
