Even if they faulter and not make the playoffs, I am rather proud and hopeful for the tigers next year. This has been some really good baseball lately seems AJ and the team has done a great job correcting players.
Says Minnesota: “What’s that draft coming from behind us?” Answer? That’s the Tigers breathing down your neck! Man they’re fun to watch! I have to say, I love the booth. Andy and Jason were totally hilarious. Bennetti could be a stand up comedian if he wanted to, we’re so blessed to have all of them!
Mentioning the booth. Being in my mid 40’s…this run makes me miss Ernie Harwell HARD !!! I used to love when they made the run in ‘06 that he would pop in on the ESPN broadcasts and call an inning. It just made my heart happy. That was the voice of my childhood as far as Tiger baseball was concerned. It seems like they’ve been trying to find a long term replacement since he left, and I finally feel like Benetti could be it.
Funny you mentioned the Bless You Boys because earlier I thought this 18-7 stretch since Baez went out is the best stretch I've seen them play since starting 35-5 in 1984
When you remember who we've beaten this season, it gets clearer: Dodgers, Phillies, Guardians, and Skankees could all whiff in their first chances while our momentum is just beginning. 💥
i am 58 yrs old, have been a Tigers fan since mark 'the bird' fidrych days. i have never seen a Tigers team as good as this one. Not even Sparky's 84 Champs could hold a candle to this team. this whole team plays smart aggressive baseball
@@AlexTheSpoon What? You don't like that Avila drafted Vest, Faedo, Skubal, Meadows, Mize, Greene, Carpenter, Brieske, Keith, Torkelson, Dingler, Hurter, Jobe, Madden, and Jung. You don't like that Avila signed Foley, W. Perez, and Montero? You don't like that he traded for Olson, Rogers and Gipson Long? Or do you like it a lot?
The most important element in MLB is pitching and The Tigers R and D is the absolute best. The Tigers are winning mostly with pitching augmented with timely hitting and good breaks. Tigers getting in the playoffs would be one of the most stunning in season turnarounds in MLB history. Also, Aj Hinch seemed to transform and progress from an average/mediocre manager to a difference maker and Mgr of the year winner which he wins if the Tigers make the playoffs. And as much as I hated the Flaherty trade-with Baez out the Tigers needed a shortstop unless its Mckinstry, and Sweeney has had key hits, hes had some brutal misplays that he didnt get errors on, strikes out alot but has contributed to wins with RBIs.. Sweeney isnt the answer longterm he will K 200 times in a season if given the atbats but he has helped win with timely hits.
Sweeney is very intriguing. Seems like he was more known for his hitting potential than his glove work. He was a first round pick by a team that traditionally makes sound decisions traded to another team that is known for their eye for talent and ability to develop it. On the other hand as you mentioned he strikes out a lot. Also the fact he could be a platoon guy for the foreseeable future really caps his upside with me. If that’s the case I’d move him to second and platoon him with Ibanez to form the greatest second baseman ever. Jung and Malloy are pretty much just hitters so if they don’t hit eventually it’s not good. But I feel fairly confident they will at some point maybe even next season. Sweeney I don’t know what to think but he makes me interested in a position I had basically written off as an off season priority. If he can improve his glues wotk just enough even in a platoon he could have value, to us atleast. I don’t know but I’m very excited about this season and the next few like someone else said we’re playing with the house’s money now! 🤞🏼😆🤞🏼
Yeah he’s not terrible. It’s interesting to have a SS that needs to just play good enough D to have success. It’s usually the other way around. I’ve heard him compared to Tulowiski who also had to improve his glove to finally make it. Even an almost as good as Tulowiski guy would be really nice. He’s tantalizing to think about if he can hit lefties enough and play at or slightly above league average defense. He could be the difference in us being good and us being great. Let’s dream a minute and say next season he gets +500 at bats, maybe hits .240+, thus in a good offense possibly 70ish runs, 15-18 HR’s, 70ish RBI, 10-15 steals? If you factor in slightly above average defense you nearly got an all-star caliber guy imo. Or maybe he’s a .220ish guy that washes out becuz he hits too poorly to play second and doesn’t field well enough to play short. Honestly not sure sometimes I think he’s the missing piece and other times I’m shaking my head.
Man the league messed around too much and they let my Tigers get scorching hot, big big mistake 😤🔥. Also, Tork needs to try out for NFL wide receiver lol
@@ricknofzinger Don't count out Verlander yet!! If there's anybody who can make adjustments he can!!! And he's coming off a injury, we'll see what happens!!
I just hope they have extra loud music and horns blaring for the final home series. This city is ready. Let's go boys! Just have to get through Baltimore one more time and I think it's a lock.
A fun scenario would be on Monday, all the baseball outlets are talking about "Detroit sweeps Baltimore in Baltimore. Detroit is now the 2nd wild card seed and they hold the tiebreaker with Baltimore who has the Yankees and Twins to finish the season off. Detroit could suddenly be in a position to host a wild card series. Also 4 of the teams in the playoffs could be AL Central teams, while the 5th team is the worst team in baseball history." For Thursday September 19th 2024, go Guards and go Giants. This weekend let's go Tigers, Giants and Red Sox
I think the combination of audition season plus an infusion of young talent has bonded these Tigers together. There's nothing more dangerous than a ballclub that is loose and focused on finding ways to win today's game. The claws are out and mighty sharp.
Every other team better be praying we run out of games before we can fully catch up in the standings. The only thing that can beat us now is time. With all this momentum, we'll be hard to beat if we make it. Still not getting my hopes up, but we're close enough to taste October baseball
Tigers are loaded with talent and are having trouble deciding who to call up, nice problem to have. Got the best pitcher in the minor leagues chomping at the bit to be called up.
happy for you scotty. those of us who listen every day couldn’t be more proud to have you as our guy on this run with us!
What he said
The acrobatic slide by Jung was epic. He was so fired up!
The broadcast called it a Karate kick
18-7 since Baez moved to the DL. I don't think it's a coincidence.

I’ve spent like 200 hours watching this show over the last 3 years I feel like me and Scott are best friends and he doesn’t even know me😂
Best record in the AL since July is just crazy. Go tigers
THANK YOU GUARDIANS!!!!!! TIGERS ARE ALMOST THERE JUST ONE MORE MINNESOTA LOSS AND A TIGERS WIN
Well...don't want to p*ss on anybody's parade, but it'll take 2 more Twins losses. Tiebreaker, eh ?

Tiger pitching is shocking the world!

They became younger and much more athletic. Then they gelled and reveled in each others play. Bravo AJ Hinch!
we are playing with house money and keep doubling down. Love it

We are so blessed to have Dickerson on radio and Benetti on tv reminds me of the glory days of Harwell and Kell.
That Jace Jung slide home was beautiful

I’ve been trying real hard not to make comparisons but now I’m done fighting.
Fangraphs now has the Tigers with a 36% chance of making the Playoffs !!! It was like 1% a week ago !!!
GRRRRRITTTTYYYYY TIGS BABY
Something strange going on in Detroit 👀🔥
Last 2 games, we have stranded a runner on 3rd with 1 out 5 different times. Got to find a way to get that guy home.
This is crazy. Went to kc and swept them. Never seem this team play like this in awhile. I was counting them out of the play offs. Great turn around.

Yep, Harris is responsible for Vierling, McKinstry and Sweeney (current big-leaguers). People hate Al because he was in charge of the deconstruction.
We can get him back if you want
Didn’t he sign Baez and Zimmerman?
Old terminology!! Bless you boys ❤❤❤
I give credit to AJ Hinch.
AJ made sure that Skubal would get the W while limiting his innings with a potential look ahead to what’s next.
Good job 🙂

Another twins loss today would be huge. Means you only need to win one game more then the twins in the last nine to make it in.
