Now Bill Shatner is the oldest person to go into space thanks to Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin! I am 72 and I remember Shatner's appearance on Twilight Zone prior to Star Trek. I cannot think of many other actors from my early childhood that are still alive and well as he. He truly is a remarkable man!
I remember one other episode Bill did. The one with the coin-operated fortune-telling machine. As usual, the end was such a cool message. Yes, I remember Redford's beautiful turn as a gentle Death. Another favorite involved Lee Marvin as a gunslinger, and another starred Agnes Moorehead as a mute, solitary dweller attacked by tiny invaders.
I'm 55, and I remember watching Judgement at Nuremburg and he was in it. That was 1961, I think. That's the oldest thing I've seen him in, but he was in dozens of shows before that. A remarkable man.

I happened to be staying at Vegas Hilton in 2009 on the August weekend of their annual Star Trek Convention ... didn't know it until I arrived and checked in ... spent the Sunday afternoon listening to Shatner and Nimoy with me sitting right up front in the sixth row on banquet chair temporary seating ... Shatner was "Hillarious" for about two hours ... one of the best times I have ever had watching a show .... I have seen more shows.. entertainers and celebrities over decades than I ever thought I would have ... I watched Star Trek every week as a kid when it first came out in the 60's ... Thanks Bill ... you are an "Icon" ...

I was there when that episode was shown in 1963 I was watching it with my father and when William Shatner pulled the curtain and the gremlin space was pressed up against the window I literally jumped off of the sofa. It became a standing joke for the rest of my life. I didn't sleep a wink that night.

He’s actually fairly amusing and modest. Shatner’s sometimes overstated acting made that episode memorable, notwithstanding the guy in the cheap, fuzzy suit.
