    Actual pilot here.
    1. Too fast and shallow.
    2. Should have yawed over to match centerline before touchdown.
    3. When you've made the runway, then you can back off the throttle to idle, but you keep waiting until at touchdown, resulting in way too fast an approach and short final speed.
    4. You would burn your brakes after a couple of these irl.
    Just try it slower for once and follow my tips. Experiment around with regular airports and not advanced ones and get it down pat. Do hundreds of in patterns.

      Aviation is for the humble. I have nothing to gain engaging internet trolls, and if you're a fellow pilot trying to call out fake pilots on RUclips comments, you have concerning aviation temperament. I was giving genuine feedback to a flight simmer who asked. If he didn't want real pilots to weigh in, he could let me know.
      Good day, and happy flying!

    You did not correct for crab angle. As you enter ground effect, use rudder to align nose of the aircraft with the runway and then use slight banking into the wind to counteract for drift and maintain centerline direction.

    • @electricstingray3485
      @electricstingray3485 10 месяцев назад +1

      Airliners are designed to land in a crab and side load the tires like that.

    • @Keys879
      @Keys879 10 месяцев назад +7

      @@electricstingray3485 No, saying they can withstand considerable sideload compared to a smaller aircraft like a Cessna 172 does not mean they were designed to land in a crab. Very few aircraft, such as the B52 were designed to land in a legitimate crab. The rest were designed to land with the longitudinal axis of the aircraft pointing down the direction of travel of the aircraft. (e.g. straight down the runway). Pilots must utilize good rudder skills to correct for this before touch down. Failing to do so can result in at best, excessive wear on the tires; or worst, loss of directional control.

    • @electricstingray3485
      @electricstingray3485 10 месяцев назад

      @@Keys879 I agree it’s not the best way to do it, but they absolutely can and are designed to, and your comment suggested tracking down the runway with aileron which could cause a wing strike depending on how much is needed to correct for the wind. On a big airliner this could only be a couple degrees of bank, so crabbing is used and you kick it out just before touching the ground, but they absolutely can land in a crab and they have.
      The real problem in this video is failing to apply any rudder even after touching down.

    • @RaoulEsman
      @RaoulEsman 10 месяцев назад

      @@electricstingray3485not all airliners though. For strong crosswind you partially de-crab to decrease the wind correction angle, in this case there was no de-crabbing involved. Try to de-crab and dip the wing a little bit into the wind not too much otherwise you will hit the ground with the engine nacelle).

    • @pan118th
      @pan118th 10 месяцев назад

      @@Keys879but how about while crab landing, you land a little to the edge of the runway away from the wind? As you touch the ground, you can correct your heading as there is plenty of space on the runway width.

    8.5/10: next time you land there, aim for the numbers because you want to get the plane down as early as possible so that way you have enough runway to slow down. Otherwise great landing as always!
    Edit: that go around looked pretty windy

    • @jo5hua0680
      @jo5hua0680 10 месяцев назад

      Don’t aim for the numbers at all! Way too early! Aim for the thousand footers (touchdown zone) if possible. I know there wasn’t any markings here but just aim generally 1000 foot after the runway threshold. The numbers are around 900 feet too early.

    • @nathanborino456
      @nathanborino456 10 месяцев назад

      What I’m saying is that if he aims for the numbers, he will have a chance to flare and get a smooth landing, and not be halfway down the runway. So, I agree, but if he aims for the numbers he’ll have plenty of runway to slow down.

    • @jo5hua0680
      @jo5hua0680 10 месяцев назад

      @@Cozy186From a pilots point of view, I need an answer. On runways like this with no clear 1000 footers, where would you aim to land? Lots of people in the comments say to aim for the runway numbers, but I feel that’s too early.

    • @JB_Hobbies
      @JB_Hobbies 9 месяцев назад

      @@jo5hua0680You aim for the numbers, but that is not where you touch down. You keep it coming towards the numbers until ground effect, then you flare and let the plane land. For most planes, that results in a landing between 500 and 1,000 feet if your approach speed is correct.

    Honestly you're trying to land in a short runway so I kinda expect you to land hard.
    Attempt 1: good approach, skewed approach profile but that can be expected if there are gusts, decent flare, but the biggest problems is speed control, late and high approach, and poor decrabbing. Good awareness and very good go around.
    Attempt 2: perfect approach and profile, very good decrabbing executed but unfortunately very poor late flare, decrabbing can be distracting but flaring is priority, if you're gonna forget one of them forget decrabbing but at least don't collapse your gears, short runway landing procedure followed perfectly and you did your best to return to the centerline after touchdown, your speed this time was perfect too.
    quick summary
    1st attempt mistakes: speed control, late & high approach, no decrabbing
    2nd attempt mistakes: poor flare
    6/10
    don't worry windy gusty landings are a completely new skill when it comes to landing operations, keep challenging yourself in these conditions!

    Coming a little fast on the first attempt, just about had a wing strike...second try much better. Not sure if you are using auto-spoilers, if yes, they should have deployed on first attempt and were slow to deploy on the second attempt.
