The impact marks are from a BB gun... the BBs were shot from outside the mausoleum .. I have shot glass before with BB gun and the damage side is small from the initial impact side and large on the opposite side.
Those last three mausoleums were gorgeous! After the first one where you found the animal carcasses, I kept seeing spigots and hoping you would wash your hands!! (once a mom, always a mom) This looks like a beautiful place. You never disappoint us! Cannot wait to see more.
Who knows why people do what they do but it does give you the feeling of something ritualistic. It's definitely creepy. I love stained glass and you found some really awesome pieces and the mausoleums were gorgeous. Thanks for another amazing journey. Be safe.
I bought a caretakers house in a cemetery 20 years ago...I have 16,000 of the best neighbors in the world...the first few years I lived here, I chased people out on Halloween night that were actually doing rituals on graves...usually they would sacrifice a chicken, light candles and leave coins...some kind of voodoo ritual.
I noticed that the first mausoleum (I think I would avoid going there at night...) had "1918" on the pediment but the death dates of some of the people interred there were from as far back as the 1800's. Apparently some of the bodies there had been first been buried elsewhere.---At the sealed up mausoleum I think I saw a small opening in the upper-right of the doorway and I saw a couple of insects buzzing around. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a huge beehive inside the mausoleum.---I was brought up in the Methodist denomination but have never seen that image of the man on the horse. I'm sure it's a reference to John and/or Charles Wesley who are considered the founders of the Methodist denomination and who traveled from place to place.
Thanks for sharing your adventures with us. So interesting the mausoleums and steps on the hill. I love seeing these cemeteries and it is real great that your showing such respect for the environment and the graves of loved ones passed away.
The coloring of the granite in the mausoleum @ 9:35 was beautiful. Very, very odd about the plastic bags being stuffed into the holes of the mausoleum. Creepy .
A fantastic video, Matt ! I commend you on your reverence and respect shown when visiting these cemeteries ! I can imagine the stories many of these sites could tell us.....Thanks for sharing ! :)
The dead crows are definitely a sign of black magic!!!! with crows usually signifying death it's definitely for a bad luck spell! when you see stuff like this he should definitely not tamper with it and if you do put it back! I watch your videos all the time and I would hate to see something bad happen to you I love you Matt! 💯😮
This was a really nice cemetery Matt. I really like the Woodman of the World headstones. They always amaze me with their intricacy. That bird thing was disturbing! How sick are some people! 😠 PS please tell me you had hand sanitizer with you! Great filming and info as always, you never disappoint with your vast knowledge! Thank you!!
The dead bird symbolized the end of one thing and the new beginning or new start on another. I guess you'd call it a folklore thing. Woodmen of the World and Modern Woodmen of America were both insurance fraternal organizations. So don't go thinking they were trackers or explorers, founding cities and blazing trails. They were not. They were life insurance salesmen. Here's a link I found interesting describing who they are. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WoodmenLife
A L Cuffel and Jack Cuffel are both buried in lot 57 section 18. I don't know if they were brothers but they were somehow related. Find a grave says that Jack died of some kind of paralysis. He died in the 19 teens. A L died in the 1950s.
@@aylaeh I'm guessing based on the time period. I was a kid in the 1950s and remember the fear people felt about polio. On the street we lived on, one kid died and another was crippled from it. I was in 1st grade when the Sauk vaccine became available and we had immunization days at school. The first one was injection and later we were given an oral vaccine.
The mysterious case of the "Two Maggoty Birds!!!". That's interesting. One bird could be easily attributed to say, a groundskeeper finding a dead bird and lacking a nearby waste can, put it in a bag and stuffed in the vent. But two birds in two separate vents, put there at the same time? I suppose, however, this is one mystery that will never be unraveled. Beautiful cemetery.
There were some unusual names in there as well. Unusual first AND last names. My favorite was at 13:30. I couldn't believe you didn't mention the Hanna Brothers - Mike, John, and Mark (aka Stub, Pig Pen, and Buckwheat)
This is a huge cemetery and such a pretty area. The bb gun shots are from the outside of the glass there would be no way to fire from inside that. Why would somebody put dead birds in bags and put them in the sides of this crypt? Awesome video, thanks for sharing
Is it just me or did the people who are buried there have money! I have never seen a cemetery with so many beautiful stones. It is very, very well cared for also. Thank you!
check out calvary cemetery in dayton, OH, makes this place look quaint by comparison. it's one of those cemeteries with their own electronic/digital sign, it has its own beautiful chapel, and entirely modernized for modern funeral practices. one side you have graves going back to like the 1840's, i think, on the other side you have your lake and tranquility trails -- with about 80K graves and mausoleums inbetween, and if it's someone of note there's always a little placard on a pole telling you about the person. the very first one i noticed and stopped to look at was a mausoleum built into a hill, the plaque reading the interred was the last gypsy king of dayton. thought that was pretty cool.
This one was creepy! Some awesome stones and unique section markers. Some nice mauseleums too! With the stained glass still in tact. Very interesting, Excellent filming as always Thanks for sharing :)
Whoever owned or owns, has put alot of love into this Cemetery. Strange about the birds, but who would stuff them into the mauseleum. Either trash or leave them on the grass and then letting the office know. Very good video, I really enjoy watching because of the history you show us. Thanks.
Ok, goosebumps thanx for video, i love all ypur videos. I use to walk cemetaries all the time when l was younger, being 67 now l still stop at graveyards l see while traveling l just don't walk as far as l use too
Matt, the carved figure of the boy to the left side of the last mausoleum, represents a sower with his bag of seeds....maybe represents the parable of the sower in the Bible.
I just visited Belle Fontaine Cemetery in St. Louis and found a mausoleum with, what looked like, BB holes as well. So strange. I took pictures because I found it so odd.
I am beginning to like the graveyards that you film. I have always wanted to go and do this. I do have a few pictures of a cemetery in our town of Tarboro, NC. They are on my facebook page. I will be looking at more of your videos off and on until I have seen them all. Thanks, Angela from eastern, North Carolina.

It is amazing that the bags with birds where not cleared by groundskeepers. It is good you removed it. In some cultures, e.g. in eastern Europe it is a grave insult to the dead. greats from a viewer from The Netherlands Western Europe.
probably put there by the grounds keeper. You are mowing a lawn and don't want to hit it with the mower, not trash can nearby. What do you do? Stop and go find a trash can or shove it out of the way somewhere close by. Or (being sarcastic) never in my life, all 2 decades of it, have I seen a green haired wierdo, finding out of the way deadbirds (planted), in the breather vent of a 100 year old mausoleum.
wow what a interesting cemetery tour, that mausoleum is something special too, not sure on dead birds though strange, thanks for sharing this video from across the pond in UK
I build mausoleums and those cutouts should have bronze vents instead of just being open. Someone probably stole the vents for the bronze. The door is anchored to the stone and isn't removed as easily.
The shapes of the tombstones mean things, like the log shaped one for example represents a life cut short. Also the dead birds are most definitely some form of black magic, i suggest doing a smudge with white sage or if you are religious go to your religious leader and get cleansed or whatever. I don’t feel like your cursed but its possible you messed with something not-so-nice lol.
Neither of the mausoleums are marble, they are granite. Vents and doors are bronze, not copper. Fun fact: marble is cheaper to quarry, cheaper to cut, polish, and ship. It also sucks to build with, but since people believe it's more valuable sales people charge more. Always buy granite, never marble.
There is no better way to hide things than in a mausoleum. Say, you have stolen a nuke, missiles, or other serious stuff and have nowhere to stack them just put them in one of those big mausoleum and pick them up later...
