The cutman for Periera, Xiaonan and Jiri was not using smelling salts, but rather acupressure right below the nose above the lip (on the philtrum or "DU26"). It is a very sensitive spot known to wake someone up quickly if they are out. All you do is apply pressure with your finger or knuckle there for a bit and the nervous system interprets this as "noxious stimuli" and it should wake the person up... or you could try it on yourself if you are feeling kinda tired.
Finally, a definitive answer. I deduced from seeing it in a few fights that it's something the corner do when fighters are rocked to help bring them back, but I couldn't figure out what they were actually doing. Thank you so much my friend.
He would have fought in 205 anyways. He's not really has a good chin cutting down to 185. At 205 I believe Pereira beats everyone and even Izzy. Though prime Jones, or prime DC disposes him easy.
