Usman's run gave him alot of confidence. Leon was where he needed to tone down on that
@@oodlesofnoodles9437facts. usman vs colby 1&2 were close stand up fights between two wrestlers. why on earth usman is playing around with leon on the feet for any amount of time is beyond me. the crazy thing is leons gas tank will almost definitely be better this 3rd time around
@@iamjp1 They were on the ground on the 5th? Herb forced them to stand up if I remember correctly
@@TrueTacticia they we're against the cage not doing much of anything but pretty close. still though, he controlled most of the fight with wrestling, you'd think he'd just try to get him back against the cage and maybe get him down. he's got power but he's not a great technical striker, or at least not as good as leon but he was just standing in front of him
@@iamjp1 Unfortunately it's pretty common for fighters to learn a new skill they really enjoy and use it in a fight rather than relying on what got them to the dance in the first place. Gane loves his heel hooks. Poirier loves his guillotine. Usman fell in love with boxing after training with Trevor Whitman. It happens
@@benlewis5312 oh trust me i understand. all three of those guys need to be on their toes in their next fights, usman and gane specifically
Fight of the Year and KO of the Year both ended up in the 5th round of a title fight. Oh, and Pereira capping off an historic year in the UFC with a TKO of the Style bender himself. Incredible!!💯
cant wait until alex puts the nail to his coffin next time
Glover is unbelievable. He was ahead on the scorecards!!! And such a good guy
Usman Edwards, how can you write a better script, the corner, the commentary, the timing on the head kick, its a movie I swear. Goose bumps
Leon shocked me real good and it gave me chills hearing his corner yelling at him to stop feeling sorry for yourself. I felt that.
I love the first fight for one reason alone. The complete respect they show to each other. That’s what I was taught when training in martial arts and I feel like it has been lost a bit in mma. There are some that still truly respect the art but there are a lot more that don’t.
the art of fighting without fighting?? (***Bruce Lee accent).
It’s still crazy Glover and Jiri were smiling the whole fight after all that damage and blood they were just loving the violence
Its awesome that Glover was a part of 2 huge title fights and 2 of the best fights in 2022.. Hated to see him lose his belt, but at least he played a huge role in Alex winning his

Leon KO Usman was the best.
Alex is the definition of a hater, lol. At 12:32 Izzy tried to calm down the fans and Alex responds at 12:34 immediately trying to hype up the audience. It's really funny plus the 3-0 after he beat Izzy was priceless 🤣🤣🤣
Wouldn’t call that being a hater lol what weakens some… energizes others
He is the grim reaper and the nightmares in Izzy's dream. Mans hated him so much he beat him twice in kickboxing and he followed him to ufc to do it again🤣
ahahahahah so true!!!!!
He did it on purpose , I didnt notice that
how soft are you
Don't mess with brazilians or you'll get KOed.
Still gives me chills every time I hear Leon’s corner between round 4-5.

Man the coach had me fired up too 🔥 haha
Now looking at him from before live I didn’t even notice how dejected he looked slumped shoulders his coach knew he had to get him out that mindset I almost punched my tv after hearing the coach 😂
First twenty seconds of this video are gold.
I love how Alex just walks off without celebrating.
He was a 2-division champion in Glory kickboxing, he's used to winning. Plus he seems like he's a fairly stoic person in general.
A true Badass dude !
Like a k*lling machine that was set on a mission.
Israel shouldn’t have stayed standing after he got shook 🤷♂️
Final boss vibes

7:49 that knee is vicious
The way Usman powered through is unreal.
I totally missed that live
that reversal by Jiri rd 4 was so nice, alot of amazing fights this yr. but Leon's head kick was historic 👏
I felt so bad for glover, the road that man took to the title, how good he was in that fight just to end up getting submitted in the final round of what would've probably been a decision win. Such a likable dude.
I love Leon's cornermen...absolute passion and support.
Looking back on the Izzy fight, it looks like he could've survived until the end of the round.
Izzy needed to get that clinch for a few more seconds Izzy fought good too hope he beats Alex in rematch
No chance. Five more seconds he would have been out cold. Great fight and stoppage though.
Nah, he could be really hurt, he was finished.
To beat Alex, Izzy has to last 5 rounds or K.O. him to win. Alex always loses on points but guy got ultime ko/tko power and he takes the opportunity the second it presents itself to him.
izzy surviving? alex needed one knee to land on izzy head and that wouldve been ugly
When Edward was yelling into the camera after winning he almost sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger
10:09 look at Trevor Wittman's grin man. A real student of the sport truly appreciating a great piece of work.
you know there was a time that leon was always hoping for a title shot
Thats 9 fights in a row
He was waiting for a headshot... And pulled the trigger on the snoozeman ☠️
I believe I deserve a title shot.

Jiri’s fight was insane he looks like a beast
The izzy perira fight is a sight to behold, pereira kept chipping away izzy with powerful legs and bodyshot, no one has ever gotten izzy so tired in the 5th round. The body shots were unbelievably powerful I think that is what really won him the match.
Besides the fact that they are all incredible fighters, Izzy does not do well with fighters who are his size and reach. He can bully most other reach-short fighters. That's a fact.
@@zunoReactor He also tried to point fight with a double kickboxing champ, it was gonna end that way sooner or later.

All izzy opponents are bigger than him. He is lanky. You guys called him skinny now he's a size bully. MMA fans.
@@XIXRayderXIX He was point fighting with him and doing it successfully. His downfall was that checked kick which hurt his mobility and led him to lean on the fence. Notice how early in the fight he's able to dance away from the fence.

that first fight. the respect was amazing
I’ve only been a fan since 2020, but I find it very hard to believe that this isn’t the greatest year in the sports history.
You had the whole ngannou situation at the start
You had volkanovski cement his greatness
You had jiri win with arguably the greatest fight in history, definitely the greatest fight I’ve ever seen in including replays
You had leon winning the way that he did, THE REAL LIFE ROCKY
You had Islam becoming the champion in the dominant way that he did, continuing the dagestani stranglehold on the most competitive division
And finally Peirera ended adesanyas dominant reign, being the ghost that haunted adesanya who followed him from another sport
Just wow what a year to be a fan
it’s just gonna get better and better from here
It’s a peak time to be a fan that’s for a sure. It’s only going to get better in terms of stars and talent. However it’s hard to put it over 2016 personally. I’ve been a fan since 2012 so I can only go back so far myself.
Damn dude what got you into it? What was the first fight you saw? I remember going in for a haircut and seeing jon jones vs shogun rua and was instantly a fan of the sport haha
fan since 2004 and I still love every year more than the last
Some of the worst judges decisions in the sports history though, not just paddy
Honestly I could eat my words with all the champs being fresh BUT we might have seen the best year the UFC has ever had to offer. It's not just the amount of titles that changed hands but the quality of them. These guys have held the title for years and they all meet a demise in the same year. Thank you UFC for the incredible year and I hope I eat my words and next year is just as mind blowing, gonna be HARD though.
Leon doing the McGregor walk after he put Usman's lights out was the icing on the cake for me "pvp headshot dead. thats it"
It ain’t over till it’s over

OMG Jiri is sofa king tough. No time to suffer, just takes it, shakes it, and keep going. Kind of like Clay Guida.
Edit- Leon's corner men got to me. They really love him. The one that said "Come on Leon!", 8:07 was shaking. He was in there with him.
