- The Bobby Torres Ensemble with Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, and members of the Tedeschi Trucks Band at the 2016 Waterfront Blues Festival in Portland, Oregon
My late husband Wayne Carson wrote this classic song!
Fantastic rendition! Wayne would have loved it!❤
👍✌❤😎
I first heard this song back in the late 60s as a kid. It's been one of my favorites every since then. Just a classic song.
i knew Wayne very well.wow what a man. all thoughs wonderful nights i will never forget.
Just wow! I’m on my third time seeing Tedeschi Trucks live

I STILL LOVE EVERY MINUTE of this video -- one that I have watched dozens of times!!! The introductions are awesome, the sound is amazing and everything made me want more!!!
Susan and Derek always make me smile with their obvious musicianship. No disrespect to the other musicians
A group of supremely talented people having a great time together. To me, this is what music is all about.
To all my current subscribers and new subscribers, thank you so much for watching. Thank you for your comments. I hope that you and your families are well. My heart goes out to you as I know each of us have been touched by this Pandemic. Today I had a conference call with exceptional artists from around the world. We discussed the issues that is needed to create an outlet to perform our craft to uplift and inspire our audiences to ensure that artists get paid to entertain their work We would like to know if you would like to see this channel featuring a variety of entertainment such as music theater, dance and other art forms. With over 50 years of entertainment experience I have access to a multitude of high caliber artists and the artists that I was talking to today also have access to a multitude of artists from whole over the world in their respective genres.Obviously now there are no venues for audiences except RUclips to express their craft.Ideally this channel would be funded through Sponsorships and grants. Would you support a variety show of entertainment by watching ? Please let me know
I enjoyed the introduction and it led to something well worth waiting. To Hell with those that can't get it.
I get it! Susan can really wail !
I'm here for the music!
I appreciate all the comments made on this video even some that are extremely negative on my part. The band had played a 45 minutes before Susan and Derek and others sat in so I thought it was appropiate to introduce members sorry if that made you uncomfortable and So you know this old guy played with Joe Cocker since 1969 at Woodstock with the Grease Band and also Mad Dogs anf Englishmen in 1970 That's why we played this song. In 2015 Derek and Susan invited members of Mad Dogs to perform at Lockin festival in Lynchberg Va as a tribute to Joe Leon Russell Rita Coolidge,Chris Stainton Dan and Matt Moore Claudia Lennear,Chuck Blackwell It was a step back in time that was very emotional. That was the 1st time ever meeting Susan and Derek being the sweetest people you'll ever want including band members to meet they are my friends forever
I really loved the intros. It's fun to see each musician get their moment to shine and to see what creative stuff they'll come up with. I'm glad you included it! If someone doesn't want to watch it, then move the slider to the right. Sheesh!
Bobby, chill....just let that shit roll of your back and fuck all....ok?
This is the second time I've seen this video as we surf for music on the web. Pretty special git t'gether! No complaints.
Loved every second of this video. Music appreciation in every way. Loved the band introductions.
Bobby Torres Ensemble : it was great, man. Thank you!
This clip is incredible. The intros groove is infectious and when Susan comes in with the lead, it just blows the roof off! What a great band!
...and I never heard them B-4 !!...
What I love the most is their mutual respect and how they let the other shine at precisely the right moment.
Once in a while I return to this gorgeous piece of music, and still can't get enough of it.
Me i do it all the time and enjoy the hell out of it !
I loved the introductions..., made me feel like I was at the concert! Great to watch Susan try not to take the mic..., and when she was coaxed into doing so, by the other musicians... WOW!
Thought the intro was great! Thanks for saying the names. Made all those people so glad to be there! To hear their names was great. Thanks again! Sent chills up and down my spine!
I'm in love every time this girl sings ! Thank you Susan !!
They rocked the roof off of that one!!! Amazing vocals...Wow!!! Thank you for posting this incredible number🙏🍄🌈☮
Nothing beats Joe’s version but I really like the jazzy feel of this version. I have been a big fan of Susan for a long while and with Derek only got better.
Just got to say : loved every SECOND of it ! CANNOT sit still listening, relived some moves I had long forgotten ! The Introductions /intro added perfectly to build up to full gear- amazing. (Also now I can follow up on these players maybe). Also as a second chance 70 yr old beginner drummer, what a drum/percussion set to enjoy !! So crisp...How or where do I find the whole session start to finish ??? And apart from anything else...the Tedeschi band as well. Wish I had been there !
70 yr old beginner drummer...You Da Man gortagnan.
Derek plays slide and Susan sings and plays guitar lot of good music
You're ever so right ! I go back to this performance once in a while and it never stops to lift me up. Great musicians, all of them and all of them worth checking out !
Nothing wrong with the introductions Bobby! Good to see all the musicians get their due recognition!
I totally agree, it gives a sense of acknowledgement and a little bonding 👍
Mark Wassner essential 😉
Can’t understand this , this is Bobby Torres show , he does what suits him
saw derek when he was 12 yrs young, played with the Skynyrd band in Green cove springs Florida. still have the show ticket autographed by Derek.
Honestly, this video is my introduction to the BTE. Here I am enjoying it, thinking how do these artists know each other, how do they have this conversation on stage, how is it so good? I don’t always read comments. But here you have someone presuming the show is about them, they are the player, writer, and they deserve their moment. The center of the universe. Until you understand how much this moment meant to the performers on stage, then be quiet. It ain’t about you. Thank you to both bands.
Smokin' hot band here ! ! ! Just try and sit still when you listen too this ! Wonderful to see the whole ensemble so motivated by this energy-packed arrangement of a great Wayne Carson tune.
This is a jazz rendition of a rock song by the 60s group, The Box Tops for whom a teen-age Alex Chilton was lead singer. The band was based in Memphis.
Now more than ever, with the COVID pandemic, watching performances like this make me smile and wish I was there. It's amazing how we took social gatherings like this for granted in the past. People are screaming for days like these again. Bravo.
Only if you allow them to take your freedom. It is apparent they have gotten in your head. Think for yourself UN plug use your brain for more than a fecal sponge of noise. Too many sheep
If the orange monster is the root of all you're made up non problems no hope 4 ya
We didn't take this for granted. Anarchists took it from us. With the help of spineless politicians.
Thanks for showing this to your son I have my daughter and son playing with me we played for 45 minutes prior and I wanted to introduce my musicians who have played with me for over 10 years which many objected to so I am grateful and appreciative by your comments
The introduction is my husband's and my favorite part!
The Susan. ..omg shes strong in voice and confidence no mistake... wow. AWSUM. BLUES GIRL!!!
Definitely so! A most excellent performance!
Drive time to gig 12 hours:
Set up time for show 2.5 hours:
Band Introduction 7 minutes:
One great song..Timeless!
and priceless James Burke, these artists have recognized accomplishments individually but this jam on a true classic is simply marvelous and excellent in every way.
Thanks that puts it in a great perspective
Wow.. what a great version! Looks like they had a blast doing it too!
And the other lady is very hot!
As james Brown would say, "It's too funky in here!"
All I can say is that Susan Tedeschi is ALL THAT!
I agree
And has been for over 20 years!
Aint this what music is all about, so much talent on one stage. Mr Cocker would be thrilled, as would the fabulous box tops. Kudos to y'all!
But you know, I wasnt the biggest Joe Cocker fan. I always thought the Boxtops did it best.
Loved the introductions! These great players and singers deserve all the recognition they can get! 🙂
Man the introduction alone was hot and when they got into the song, WOW
As usual Susan sings everyone off the stage....and Derek, non better.
True. But she's often pushing her voice to the limit. That can't last long. Same happened to Rod Stewart, Bobby Kimball or Brian Johnson.
Been at it for quite a while (couple decades) now with no degradation that I've noticed.
I really like her singing but the range of her voice is extremely limited ... it's a fact.
Yeah but I love what she does with that range...it's a fact.
Me too, I said I like it ... regardless of the facts lol
Susan always amazes me. My God
she's special.
All great comments but I'm missing that the credit for the song should be noted as "The Boxtops" 1966. NOT Joe (copycat) Cocker.
Copycat? That's the dumbest Dumbass comment I've heard maybe ever...
@@timhoovermusicman Love Cocker music but pretty sure original is the Boxtops. This ensemble version is great.
@@whingsharold of course, my reason for calling his a dumbass comment was how Joe might have covered songs but he made them his own, he was no copycat.
Everything you need in life is here. A couple of hot chicks on vocals and a horn section.
I always knew Derek was one of the best guitar players but damn Susan has got pipes! Holy cow she outclassed everybody on stage that day,no contest.
Amen to that, all players are great but I agree, Susan blew the top off the teapot!
@@tommckinnon1005 Susan is awesome! but she now has competition... Arleigh Kincheloe (Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds and Rachel of Lake Street Dive... new young players
See what happens when you throw a bunch of professional musicians up on stage? Holy Crap, this is good!
Thanks for your comment
Derek and Susan employ a lot of great musicians. Can't wait to see them all again!!
They absolutely do, they are very generous with their love so you can't help but love them back
Just saw them in Salem Oregon on 5/25/19 it was EPIC!
What fantastic vibe. Everyone looks like having fun playing, singing and dancing. Man, I love outdoors festivals, long jams! Perfect.
Real music, real musicians.
ruclips.net/video/JQECeouNVjI/видео.html this when I was with Joe before woodstock in Cannes france 1968
sweet memories of beautiful Joe, one of the greatest white blues rock vocalist history ever gave us.
I was a fan of Susan when she performed with her own band before she married Derek. Got to hear her live and she was a powerhouse on stage. She still has a great voice. Hope to hear the TTB perform live some day.
thomas medeiros I've seen them twice ,it's awesome .
I hope you do too it would be well worth it
run don't walk and find them touring somewhere in the world. They are not to be missed and one of the tightest hard working bands today
@@tazmankb26 just saw them on 5/25/19! It rained all night and I didn't care!
@@Rejectsocialism just saw them 5/25/19,I'm still feelin it!
I think the music is priceless.... Great combination of talent!
Now that’s a voice 😎❤️🎤🎶🍺
Wonderful music - I’ve listened to this countless times and it’s always fresh
Susan is lil bit chubby. Here bt she's still look gorgeous and loveable.hello everybody..keep on rocking..
Great jam. Thanks to all involved.
Love Derek & Susan! See them every chance I get!
Same here
@@BobbyTorresEnsemble great ,great stuff man .
We were trying to see them in 2020 and then Covid hit and nothing could be seen!!!
To quote Albert King ... That's hotter than pepper puddin :-)
I love you Susan... Hope the kids and everyone are well!!
Susan tedeschi .. the top for ever .. susan tedeschi . Happy Christmas day and Happy new year . God bless you ...
Really enjoyed this video, thank you so much for posting!
I loved "the letter" by the Boxtops. Learning it's a soul tunes is a big plus :) Who knew?
Like this band a lot! Will say though- the bass player appears to be Will Ferrel playing bass instead of cow bell!
CAMERON MORGAN WAS NOT SEEN WHEN HIS "SOLO" CAME UP. SUCH A SHAME! WHAT WAS THE CAMERAMAN DOING AT THAT TIME? SYLVIA - FL 10/2/2019
Make's me think about Joe Cocker and feel so good about it love love love it
I constantly think of Joe every day and I miss him so much he was one of the greatest friends I ever had
Susan is on my all-time favorite vocalists list along with Ann Wilson, Bonnie Raitt,, Ronnie Dio, Mickey Hart, and Juliet Simms. Weird list, I know. I just love their voices.
One of my favorites also
X S,I love Juliet Simms! She slayed it on the voice! Should have won...she was robbed!
All great. Check Danielle Nicole Band
Never in their wildest dreams could the Four Box Tops have imagined such a funkinaciously brilliant rendering of that song.
Patience people. Good things come to those who wait! ✌️😍
Very True Nelson Thanks
When people love making music, magic happens
What a gem !!!!!!!! I wished it would never end !!!!!! This is what I call music, not this synth-crap the music industry pisses in our ears to brainwash us all !
tom appreciate it that's what I think of in life
FANTASTIC... best-ever version of this Box-Top classic...!
Oh Ya keep shaking it😂😂
Took me an hour to finish this vid because I keep rewinding to 1:00...
ME too !
Thanks AZ appreciate the exam
I hear ya' bro! Nasty stuff...
What a groove that band builds to during Bobby's intro! More than half the fun. Lot's of talent on that stage. Bobby, I'd see your band anytime this COVID-19 mess lets up.
Outstanding ! Susan must have grown up in a Baptist church to be able to sing like that ! :-)
Where I live Baptists sing like they're on the Lawrence Well show.
And Joe Cocker looked down and smiled...............
There’s no such thing as an ordinary day, So enjoy it to the Full ...🙏
Thank you for reminding me!
@@jakeizlove Hi I just got diagnosed with stage four lung cancer, Life is precious, But god is helping me through this….Dr. said maybe I had a year left , But god has given me the peace I need to get me through this… God is good even in times of trouble…. God bless you brother… pray you know the God I know….Howie
I keep coming back to this fantastic video, and not the least for it's long introduction. Love the rhythm, love the atmosphere, love it how it slowly builds up to a magnificent apotheosis !
Wonder if there is more from this gorgeous concert ?
Thank you Bobby Torres from a Dutch guy living in Croatia.
Excellente.......l saw the box tops. Summer of 1967 in NYC. Playing this tune...later l saw joe coker in Venezuela. Back in 1975....but this Bobby torres ensemble are excellent.
Why would you ever apologize for being the consummate professional you are and giving credit to the players? Please do not take any of this criticism to heart. You a good man, a terrific entertainer, I enjoyed this very much. #bigfan
One of my all time faves but HEY!! ....6:11 before the vocals begin....after that its all brilliant !!
Sorry for the 6 minute wait
@@BobbyTorresEnsemble don't be sorry for this fool who doesn't get it! The intro just builds up the awesomeness that's coming!
Susan Tedeschi gave me chills!!!
musicians introduce fellow musicians obviously some need no introduction but talent is always remembered bye Name
This is awesome 👏 thank you for letting us watch ❤️
Me quito el sombrero Muy bueno
Brilliant love this band the way it’s lntroduced it’s part and parcel of song it starts with intro , that’s the way talking to audience , lots of songs don’t have it or bands just sing a song with no heart 💓
I was expecting a disorganized cluster#(*$. Exact opposite - what a smokin' rendition of a classic. It's gotta get old a bit, touring and touring and touring. But these musicians all seemed to enjoy this particular collaboration - maybe even surprising themselves in the process(?). I believe we'll have to make the drive down to check out the Waterfront Blues Festival, if they bring acts like these together!
Absolutely outstanding, from start to finish!!!
Susan . Susan . Susan . Susan Tedeschi .. you're great .. great
A lots of thanks my dear friend
I agree agree agree
I love the intros. These are world class musicians. They shouldn't be anonymous.
AWESOME group of talent on that stage, and I'm more than happy to see Derek and Susan get the recognition that they deserve . There is alot of talent in north east Florida , and they really inspire the local musicians here ,thanks for posting this
Some kinda shindig. All star bands sorta can be like this but ya gotta love it. Being there is where the fun is. There is a song there if ya all hang on it and it’s worth the wait.
My,that girl can sure sing!
Hi, I watched tribute t o Jeff Beck a comment said she looked like a suburban wife but I'm sure she's typical mom to her family ❤️
Susan Tedeschi and Joe Cocker sharing vocals on this song wouldn't be really bad!!!!!!! (⌒▽⌒)
Awesome bands fusion.I appreciate a lot the presentation of each musician, they are all great musicians. A very powerful and enthusiast lady with a grey dress, I love her, and Susan is an exceptional blues singer, Joe Cocker as a lady : in French we say "elle me donne la chaire de poule ! " ( she gave me hen skin :) ) Do you plan to have a tour in France or Europe , soon ?
Thanks for the good time
I loved your expression, Anua. In English it is "goosebumps", the same poultry as in my native Hungarian. Funny, these languages :)
Take care and let us enjoy great music for many years to come.
Zs
IF you are not moving you're feet and soul to this little song, you're not alive cutie pie.
FUCK ALL!!!! I am saved again by the music. THANK YOU for this stuff y'all.
Butch trucks bad ass drummer so cool and a real legend then derick can you imagine as a kid have in Duane's les paul in your arms and Dickie Betts say Gibson sg teaching the heay uncle Dickie how cuz the begging of don't keep me wondering no more go again I had it down butt aunt Martha said its 1 in the morning Ricky go to sleep and get it in morning time ok ok I played statesboro blues

Please check out Idaho Hillbilly site if ya get a chance, thanks...God willing, and the creeks don't rise...
I sure miss living next-door to the Saratoga Paul Masson mountain winery. Wow what shows. So many like this. Dang, I love Susan's voice.
Butler Crow- caught Bonnie Raitt and Robert Cray there, 100 yrs ago...fun venue . Ushered at Shoreline first yr it opened ...miss the Bay Area music scene ...
Wonderfull music......Really enjoy the band every day.
Thanks Steen appreciate your taste
@@BobbyTorresEnsemble I am extremely positive to the band. The band is good and charming. Can see it again and again.
Dang,,, if that dont get your feet moving, you might outta check your pulse. Fantastic!!!
Damn...Every song I hear her sing just reels me in. I've said it before. The female voice is a force to be reckoned with....and she's got it. Please continue Susan , to entertain us.....
i see her as a female Joe Cocker
Homesick for Blues on Whyte ,feel like a silly /irresponsible night out with good music and close take out ,
I don’t understand why there were negative comments, great cover and great performance. My only gripe was it was 6 minutes in to get to the good stuff!
Mrs. Susan Tedeschi is with her powerfull voice and tone of voicenxt to Janis Joplin as great female singer.
I been familiar to the box tops version. Tedeschi's is better.
I do want to know who the players are and think that is important. But the introductions are always done at the start, that is what introduce means. Doing it repeatedly during a performance is musical spam.
