First of all this is a huge problem with the engine model Thetha2 which is basically in all the cars for Kia and Hyundai. For people with newer cars, say 2014-2019 you need to have the KSDS update (Knock Sensor Detection Software) which was released in my country (Canada) under TSB SC034 for the years 2014-2016; newer models might have a different TSB. If your engine ECU was updated with the KSDS you are given an extended warranty to 200,000km or 125,000 miles. We are lucky that we bought the 10 years 100,000km package and only have 84k on the clock, so we are covered. There have been 5000 reports of engine fire in the USA based on this defect. If cylinder 4 snaps and breaks through the oil pan or even through the lower block the oil of the engine will spill on the exhaust and you have only few seconds to stop and get out of the car. 138 injuries and 2 reported deaths were linked to this defect. That will give you a bit of background on my research as our Kia Soul sits in the garage with this code. Do not, under any circumstance, let them reset the code and go drive, the engine has too much damage and will only get worse. The mechanic told us we had cheap fuel and that it was knocking because of that. Well my wife does not know these things right, so.... Cheap fuel will cause pinging or valve noise because the combustion chamber will not get the proper air/fuel mixture. Replacing the knock sensor is possible but will not solve the problem either because the rod bearing is already pitted and will only get worse. Replacing the crankshaft and the pistons with new rod bearings might work, but you need to measure if the bearings in the block are not damage or replace the complete under of the block. The replacement engine will have a different colour dipstick indicating that it needs more oil, so make sure that your mechanic knows about this. Replacement if the engine will take between 4-9 weeks depending on approvals from Kia/Hyundai HQ. Hyundai is easier to deal with than Kia. Kia will deny your warranty claim always and blame it on the customer, but stand your ground and bring evidence of proper maintenance of your vehicle. They will claim there are metal shavings in the oil, indicating that you are to blame for this. They will claim sludge in the engine, blaming the customer. Be firm, do not get angry, just keep using your proof and your information. Also, bring a second person to these talks that makes notes, especially the dates. Get the names of the people you are speaking with and ask them if you spelled their name correct. It is not intimidation, it is just making sure you have the facts for if you have to go to a lawyer.
Thanks for this vid. My 2013 Sante Fe Sport just developed flashing CEL and P1326. Engine was replaced under warranty 2 years ago. Is it safe to drive to dealer or should I have towed? Thank you
Hi, is there any relation between P1326 and P0014, i mean can these issues can come due to each other , also if P1326 is there and rod bearing test is clear and knock sensor replacement is also not solving the issue then what it can be ? thanks
Would you recommend any of the eBay rebuild kits for the full rebuild kit including crank and cam phazers? If not where would you recommend a full kit from. Car has 80,000 burns oil and has the detonation knock under acceleration. Not going to play around and just do the rebuild so I know it's done.
My friend has a 2015 optima with codes P1326 p0014 and p0301 all the issues you are talking about in this video. She is currently looking into a recap for theses issues

If you have a Kia then do your research and contact a Kia dealer for verification and that way you can get it documented and hopefully taken care of. I had her call Kia and they took a look. I know for sure that Kia has a lifetime warranty so I hope this helps ☺️👍
Yeah anybody who's got these Hyundai's or the Kia's with the 2.4 GDI engine we got like almost 2 months left to get a free engine the recall they don't let people know about my neighbor's actually getting hers done in a couple weeks for free
take it to the dealership and get the engine replaced i’m going through this right now with the p1326 code it’s a knocker sensor detecting vibration in the engine
@@ernestdamo677 since it’s a later model and not above 2019 these codes have warranty on there engines kia’s and hyundais are known for there engine going bad so take it to the dealership and get it replaced
@@Glocks420 i just got this today with a codep0303 and also this p1326 I know there is a lifetime recall for this code do you know how long they will take to fix it ? And do you get a courtesy car?
@@icemanbling7543 are they on recall I got this code Friday morning going 75mph suddenly lost power down to 60mph flashing service engine light , towed it home taking to Hyundai but about warranty I got it used does it still count it’s a 2016 Santa Fe sport
Anybody who's got a Kia Optima or a Hyundai Elantra gdi engine 17 thru 20... Sonata 07 thru 19 that has a 2.4 GDI engine ...you have a couple months left their warranty... the engines are all junk...

did she ever get this repaired? i have these two codes. and car had previously went in for all the recalls so i should be covered under the warranty
