    I played that game when I was a kid in China. Back in those days, I had nowhere to go and nothing to do during the summer break. Playing that game while I was trapped at home all day long, made me imagining that I had a different life in another country...

    From Japan.
    The concept of this game is that adults who have grown up nostalgically miss their boyhood, which is unique to Japanese. So, I'm a bit curious about how foreigners feel when they play this game. At the same time, I am proud to share this game with you.

      I think people find it interesting to observe such a universal feeling/concept like summer vacation or childhood through the lens of a different culture. We may not feel as strong a connection to this game as Japanese people. But enjoying your childhood and having fun outside is something most of humans can relate too.

      @@Soooooooooooonicable I mean everyone does - the main difference is that places like Japan/Taiwan/Hong Kong especially went through such rapid growth and urbanisation that their childhoods and adulthoods are two worlds apart, even if they never moved cities in their life

    whoever painted all these anime-esque backgrounds did a great job. i would love to see a game that looks exaactly like an anime. so the painted backgrounds, ad then instead of cell shaded 3d characters, ones that look exactly like 2d anime cell characters.

    Just discovered this game after watching the "August 32nd" glitch story while browsing for Japanese bizarre stories.
    Fortunately I'm recently achieved N4 Japanese Language level, so i can slightly follow this game's story without relying on English sub.

    I'm slowly learning japanese, i dont know many Kanji yet, and while i can recognise every katakana and hiragana, i've only learned how to introduce myself, so this is just a guess, but am i right in thinking theey did an Okami. by this i mean, his name is Boku, and Boku means 'my' so they did an Okami with their title where its a play on words that means 'my summer vacation' or 'Bokus summer vacation'. ? i think that's kinda cool...if i'm right i mean?

    • @Ts-fp5sd
      @Ts-fp5sd 2 года назад +3

      cud be both meaning. according to wiki his name is "久保田ボク(Kubota, Boku)". yes, same as boku meaning of my, but usually boku (my) written as 僕 or ぼく. Rarely see in kana so i'd think that's double meaning...it's ps1 even if it has a player-chosen-name it cant be voiced anyway.

      I'd argue it's worth checking out even if you don't speak Japanese, I just really enjoyed the experience. Not heavy on dialogue, and I found you could catch on to what was going on extremely easily. It's an experience, just wandering rural Japan, super nostalgic, takes me back to being a kid myself.

      It's a game about staying with your grandparents in the Japanese countryside for Summer vacation. It's very nostalgic for lots of Japanese people who remember getting dropped off at their grandparent's house for the Summer.

    God I wish I was born in the 90s games back then especially from Japan had so much character and life to them man look at this!! It’s so simple yet intriguing I like games like this I’m currently looking for good games for the psp and this game was listed so it is now a must have for me I love how nostalgia it is I love how its simple down it’s concept being for guys who reflect on their boyhood years and as young mani miss all too well despite its bitter sweetness this game also makes me sad and alittle disappointed too they just don’t make gems like this anymore I might be an young old soul but some of the old things were actually nice and pleasant
