I had the same issue with setting up the game with landmarks, but found a nifty etsy addon which puts colored bases on the building (and the round tokens), which makes set up /way/ easier. As a bonus, it also "squares" up the landmarks, so they are easier to count squares on the city. I find the game much nicer to deal with now.
I agree about the landmarks and tokens. We don't use the landmarks board or the tokens, and just set the landmarks directly on the board on the spaces where they're gained. Super simple.
Now I want to go play Tapestries with the expansion! I have it but haven't tried it yet - watching your reviews always makes me want to go play the games immediately. Thanks again for a insightful review!
Thanks for another great review! I have not played Tapestry yet, but these reviews have certainly helped me make a decision. Lots of Discord discussion now and games scheduled to play! I agree how bags are such a simple addition and can make a huge difference. Every game should have one where you are required to blind choose a tile or token! Thank you for all the work on these reviews!
Plans and Ploys really amped up Tapestry for me. The new civilizations and tapestry cards tend to amp up the player interaction and generally spice things up. When we first purchased the expansion, we only played with the new civilizations in order to give them a try. Now we play with all of them. As you said, more is definitely more here.
Great review, I assume Maggie has to do the token setup! Agree with you about the bag - definitely need a deluxe version!! I really like the expansion, really improved the game for me.
Thanks for these videos. We love Tapestry though I agree that setting up the landmarks is the most difficult part of the setup. Well, and it's a table hog. It would have been nice to have the landmarks and their new tokens color coded, though I think I may just take a colored marker and put a color spot on each of them on my game so I can differentiate some of the ones that I get confused.
Or if you paint minis, a bit of minis paint around the perimeter... (Doesn't solve the cardboard token ones, I suppose) Not saying this is not a flaw in the game, but if someone otherwise liked the game, it is a correctable flaw.
We bought some bases on Etsy that fit on the bottom of the landmarks to make them fit the capital city better and are also color coded. Unfortunately means you can't store directly in the trays any more, but I would not play without them now.
I have this game but yet to have played it. I have played viticulture EE enough to know that some cards just are better than others that really kind of makes it hard to catch up if you fall behind. Do any of the expansions for tapestry help balance the game out luck wise? Also couldn’t you just put a sticky note or mark the other side of the tile with what research track it belongs to and completely get rid of the idea that the tiles add more complication to the setup?
Never played with expansion but for me it looks like its just an attempt to fix a problems in base game, like a patch not an actual expansion and with that colour-coding it failed in some parts. I do recommend just placing landmarks on that tracks to take them while playing. And i was playing not my copy of the game but if i would have the game i would repaint some of the landmarks to match the tracks colours more. Like normal mini paintings.

That makes total sense and would help with the table space too! Thanks Alexander for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I came to say this as well. Exactly what we do.
Great review! Now I'm off to watch your review of the next expansion👍
That was really good and informative. Thank you
The transition at 13:52. What the heck. That mid-sentence-edit was flawless.
Lol!! Maggie is a wizard! She has a great ear. (And she was very chuffed at this feedback thank you 🥰)
Wowsers. Great job!

Aw that is really special feedback thank you Robin. 🥰

Thanks for watching the expansion videos too Darlene! Looking forward to catching up on voice again sometime soon ❤

Yes I (amy) enjoyed the greater interaction and Maggie enjoyed the private goals that are safe from interaction 😂

I (amy) will do it but as a labour of love! Lol. Thanks for watching!

An easy enough fix Mandy but how we wish it had been built in! Thanks for watching as always and glad you love Tapestry! ❤

It's a bummer that the color coding for those tokens slipped through. That's were video games and a quick patch have such an advantage these days.
So true Ki!!!

You're right we could think about painting them 🤔😁
