    Excellent video and EXACTLY what I needed to know right now as I have a big batch of terrain needing washing. Thanks!

    I have used Future Floor Wax as a flow agent as well (back with the old GW inks - my entire Skaven army was done with Brown Ink and floor wax). Worked very well for me, and didn't bubble. It also comes in huge (1L or 2L) bottles for the price of your average household cleaning supplies (I think it was about $5 Canadian, so about 2 pounds, for 1L).

    Problem is I dont do enough of this often enough. I forget everything I learned on the last project. So I'm starting all over and doing things exactly as you teach them Mel. In a few minutes I discovered two things I been doing wrong. Thanx. BTW, its fun to go back and watch these early videos compared to your new ones. I kinda like these better actually. But then I've always been a fan of antiques. ;-)

    This can be such an expensive hobby. It's great seeing ways to do things much cheaper and still getting a great effect.

    Very informative video. Thanks!
    I will have to give it a go on my next projects.
    I read that you can also use dishwasher rinse agent to make the "wet water". I suppose that it will make less bubbles than detergent but I think it is much more powerful than detergent so it may be harder to dose. Anyway, I do not have a dishwasher so it will be detergent for me ;)

      [CPC] Vlad Tepes glad you found it useful mate, never tried dishwasher rinse, you'll have to let me know how you get on :-)

    Could someone explain to me what I'm doing wrong?
    After painting the rock wall, I try to do the black wash but instead of the black color highlighting the cracks and details, the cracks remain white. It's like the gray paint below is giving off whitish color
    The black wash I did is like the one shown in this video dish detergent, water and acrylic

    I made the mistake of shaking the washes I mixed up. It's good to see a step by step of how you make yours. I think I was putting in too much detergent on the ones I didn't shake up. LOL!

    Hi Mel good video. Would it be an idea to use Glycerine instead of washing up liquid? They use this instead of washing up liquid when making a flow aid, so might help with the bubbles etc

    Great tutorial, man! Quick translation question:
    Here in the US, detergent is most commonly referring to liquid used to launder your clothes. Is that liquid for washing dishes? (We often call it "dish soap" or "dish detergent" specifically)

    • @TheTerrainTutor
      @TheTerrainTutor  9 лет назад +1

      Harry Chamberlain Yes, we call the laundry stuff washing power/liquid and the dishes stuff washing up liquid but basically, dishes detergent ;-)

    Hey! Great tutorial, as always. Have you tried glycerin as a flow aid? I airbrush and use it to make reducer for my paints. It should have the effect and can be got cheap at the local pharmacy.
