I don't think the screen is boring because this is the first iteration of the same design for years. The only difference with the newer ones are the dynamic island or smaller notch but the screen quality is basically the same and still no 120hz on newer models.
Next time don’t use your main phone to watch freaking videos, you’re reducing your phone’s longevity. Either use an iPad or an older phone if you’re not at home. If at home, just use your smart tv. Ok learned my lesson.

can't comment on the 12, but I am still proudly using my Pacific Blue 12 Pro Max in 256GB and it's running as smooth as silk and you'd be hard pressed to alienate it's design or even attempt to stick the old guy in the corner in a room of 13s, 14s, and 15s. Interestingly enough, and I do this with every Apple launch in which hardware updates are minimal and iterative at best (I worked in telco for over a decade, so bear with me), it can still fool the casual techie/iPhone user by telling them it's in fact the newest launch..in this case, the 15 Pro Max in the Titanium Blue, which is very similar. Camera, battery, speed, screen, form factor, build quality...nothing to complain about...I can see how if you go to a 120hZ and come back to this now ancient 60hZ, it may feel a bit laggy and sluggish....but it's fine for me and truly, the stark brightness on the newest models is a bit of overkill to me...but that could just be my eye's light sensitivity...another guarantee, alongside many of the 16 leaks, is that she will stay as my primary for at least another year...and how do we thank ourselves from saving close to $2K (since we only buy outright, and my 12PM was an absolute steal as an excellent refurb), this is how (me pointing at the brand new Midnight 15" M3 MacBook Air that I am currently typing this comment on....). Winner winner.....apple dinner?!
My 1 and only complaint is battery life. The 13 is a massive step up in battery life, so much so that it’s probably worth saving up the extra money to get it. But I just use my MagSafe battery and and an Anker a portable charger and I’m fine throughout the day.
What about updates? Since it was released in 2020 and it’ll be five years next year, how many more updates do we have for the 12 until Apple stops the updates on it?
It will likely have iOS support for iOS 18 & iOS 19. Next year, iPhone 11 and phones with equal or weaker chips will get cut. So an iPhone 12 should still provide at least 2 more years support. By then, 2026, the iPhone 14 should just as cheap as the iPhone 12 currently is.
As someone with a pixel 6 would you recommend upgrading as android updates are no longer supported… however android security is still working for two yrs

3:52 I do notice different between 60hz and 120hz right away first try an iPad Pro at the shop years ago and now a day i carry iPhone 11 and iPad Pro which has 120hz display, to be honest, I do not care about 120hz on a phone not even once cause 60hz iPhone are bloody smooth and for me, I purchase an iPad Pro 120hz because i have to work with it as an Artist, but for an iPhone if Apple put 120hz on a normal one it's good but if they keep 60hz display on iPhone 16 or 17 i'm gonna buy it anyway no problem if my iPhone 11 die, I buy it because it's an iOS, I had a really bad experience with an over advertising flagship android phone twice before so, I never ever gonna use them again.
I think right now this is the best budget iPhone if you are looking for a modern iPhone experience for less. Yes it doesn't have screens as bright as new ones or as good battery life. But about 6 months back I was in a Verizon store and looking at iPhones. It's amazing how well the iPhone 12 holds up against newer ones. Especially when you consider the prices you can get an iPhone 12 for now.
Yeah, this phone the iPhone 11 and the 13 are probably the best low priced phones that you can buy today. I think they’ll be good for people who don’t want the newest iPhones and something that is still going to get support for a while, then you have people who just want a iPhone and don’t care about the newest phones like the 15. So yeah, all the phones I just named would be really good in 2024.

I Agree. Cases are silly. They do not protect screens from cracking anyway, if the phone falls and the screen falls facedown on a bumpy elevated hard surface like a rock, that screen is gonna crack, I know because that’s what happened to my phone while hiking. Also, what the point of buying a nice finished phone if you’re not gonna be touching it? It’s like buying a new car and covering it with cardboard to protect it from the environment.
I'm also a no-case crew member :), I enjoy the tactile experience. People go "whaaaat? no case?". I don't drop my phone, I just get some more scratches on the body, that's inevitable, but so what?

i bought mine, changed the battery to a new one and been using it for about a month now. so far there is no big issue. its just that the battery life on this phone is not that great compared to iphone 13. i dont really play game on this phone and usually use social media and capture some photos, i get screen on time 5-6 hours. quite decent actually... anyway, for heavy usage or intensive gaming, please avoid this phone and buy 13 series and above or perhaps at least buy 12 pro max instead. if you are like me, only use social media, camera and a little bit of gaming with a tight budget, maybe you can consider to buy this phone.

I used to have a 13 pro and dropped to a 12 temporarily, and the gaming performance is definitely not on par. The 12 will slow down maybe 10 mins playing even a lightly intensive game, and the ram will fill up fast using only a few basic media apps, making it laggy and hot. I agree it’s a great phone if found cheap and still more than enough phone for a ton of users, but “if you’re looking for performance this is the same” is hugely off.
If you need a phone with good screen battery and to make a normal use, photos videos, social media even i phone 11 can be enough, if you need a camera phone or you just play heavy games on your i phone go on i phone 13 14 15
