I saw that averaged 30 with an all-defensive team selection stat on Twitter the other day. Giannis averaged 29.9 last season with all-defensive team selection. If he scored 7 more points over the 67 games he played, that Kobe stat wouldn't be true anymore. Shows how close it was.
It took the team scoring average across the league to go up by like 15 points for someone to come this close. That makes it even more impressive

He never got swept after he finished his second stint with the Lakers after the 2011 playoffs, where both were in the team that got swept by Dallas Mavericks in round 2. Dallas went on to win the title.

For Messi, I don't think Kobe wore #10 because of him. Kobe first wore it in '07 and back then Messi was a 20-year-old phenom but not quite yet the legend he would eventually become.
IMO Kobe chose #10 for one of those two reasons : either because MJ wore #9 and it was one number higher, either because #10 is the most iconic number in soccer and Kobe was a real die-hard soccer fan.
