lets call him MP3 cuz hes the third Pettersson
yea, & also marcus should change his # from 29 -to- 3
I like it
Marcus seems like a good guy in the locker room which is something the Canucks can use.
Everyone forgets that the Canucks management team are the ones who got MPetey3 to Pittsburgh. They know him well and like him. He has been reliable top 4 in Pittsburgh. Played with Crosby. Good signing and he will be very good
Before the Miller trade, our D-core was bad. Outside of Hughes and Hronek, the guys were forced to play too high in the lineup. Marcus Pety can play on the second pair full time...
Bigger, faster, younger cheaper. 🎉
I heard during the detroit game one of the announcers throw out the idea of MP3 and i just love it
Frank Seravalli was one of the guys who reported or leaked about the riff between Miller & Petey so in a ways he's one of the guys responsible for starting the whole Canucks locker room drama. Donnie & Dhali interviewed Michael Buble about everything surrounding the Canucks and he as well indirectly took a shot at Frank Seravalli.
All my homies hate frank
So you’re blaming the messenger? If it wasn’t reported, it would have magically gone away? That’s high school talk. Yes, and if we close our eyes, nothing will get us. Seravalli is a 💩-disturber, but he was right. Do you think Miller and Pettersson suddenly get along if he doesn’t report it? And let’s be serious, on paper, the Canucks are a better and more balanced team having made these trades. With Miller, they had a 31 year old who was prone to lazy turnovers and defensive play, a defense that was a nightmare and a guy bullying teammates. Now, they have a deeper blue line, and they got younger. So, if you’re going to blame a reporter for that, hey, good job, Frank. You may have made the team better overall.
@@christhornycroft3686 no one’s reading that bro
@@leosteel9890ahahaha buddy wrote an essay 😂
I've realized for some time now that seravalli hates the Canucks. I literally turn it off when he comes on. Not a good guy imo
With this signing, the emergence of "d Petey", the addition of Mancini and the prospect of wilander being in Abby next season I'm liking how this group looks long term. I imagine if Soucy is feeling the heat where does that leave Friedman and Juulson?
@scott-u6e ya that's not what I'm hearing, I'm hearing pretty good things about him
@scott-u6e he has five points in 15 NHL games this season? Guys calling the games like Corrado, Ferraro, Dreidger are pretty high on him. Say he can skate. I'm gonna say he gets a third pair audition soon.
@scott-u6e he's played 15 NHL(rangers) games and 23 ahl(Hartford) games this season, 1 goal 4 assists in the NHL, 10 points in his Hartford games. Sorry your so triggered by my opinion, but these are hard stats just look em up..
@scott-u6e 5 points in 15 NHL games and 10 points in 23 games in the ahl....not bad for a defensive defenseman 😁
@scott-u6e it is for a 6/7th defenseman if he does the rest of his job
Oh I fu!2ing love it. You hate to give up 1st round picks, but the team needed a player like Marcus. It takes the pressure and work load off of Hughes and it allows guys like Soucy to play farther down the line up.
They still have their own first but giving up a 1st for a prime top 4dman with term, you make that trade anyday of the week
I agree on giving up 1st round picks, but the good news is this wasn't even OUR 1st Round pick, but someone else's picked up for the sole purpose of trading it.
@@omfg322and drew o Connor which might not be as good but is a good young piece for our bottom 6 who I feel like we should resign
@@eaglebay-d9y I think you have to consider the two trades almost as if they were one 3-team deal. Removing Miller (or possibly EP40) was an absolute necessity. We can always debate which player should have been moved, but I think Miller was ready for a fresh start. Whether EP40 can rise to the challenge or not remains to be seen, but one of them had to go, and, either way, Vancouver was never going to get “equal” value, no matter who was moved.
That said, the Canucks moved one of their two problem children, 3 off season additions that did not work out, and a couple of lesser prospects for
a legitimate 2nd pairing defenceman, a puck control centre who, if he remains healthy, is at least a top nine forward (and possibly more), a second top nine forward with grit (pending contract extension), and a legitimate right-handed D-man prospect with potential high upside, not to mention cap space. In a perfect world, no team could possibly want to trade away JT Miller, but under the circumstances, I think that Vancouver came out of this situation very well.
Can’t wait until Willander gets on this Canuck roster, they’ll be stacked
5.5 for 6 years is actually really good. I was expecting something closer to 6 mil
100% this.... 5.5 for 6years is a great AAV for MP3
Niiice. Reasonable cap it. Glad he's not a rental like big Zed
Sweet, that is a good signing. That gives our D-Core a massive boost. With D-Petey about to be a regular, look for a trade to get more depth at forward probably center. Even though it is a small sample size but so far i have him pegged as a #3 D-man, he is quietly good. He so far has moved the puck and defended just fine. Franky might just be incorrect about Double D-Petey.
Fast upload way to go!
I can now say that we won the JT Miller trade. I wish he was still here instead of EP40, but this is the best outcome possible.
Him and Myers on the PK is great. Plus, he shoots
I bet in the open market, he would’ve gotten around 7M. This is a good extension. Now it’s time to extend O’Connor.
Hughes/Hronek/MP3. Thats a good top 3 D unit. Last game Canucks won 3-0 against the Avalanche and the 3 top players involved in the JT Miller trade MP3/ Chytil/O'Conner played a combined 54 min of ice time. Considering how backed into a corner the Canucks were The JT Miller trade looks good like Drance says and the NYR took all of JT Millers contract.
Also Pettersson has a few fights and he did okay.
Keep Soucy and get rid of Forbort and Juulsen
great signed
That sounds right in the ballpark for what a contract extension for Pettersson should look like. Good job. Sign O’Connor to a reasonable extension and all of the noise about “How can the Canucks give up that much for rental players?” can stop. Seravalli is losing more credibility with me every time he opens his mouth lately.
Honestly I would've been okay with a 6x6. I think we scammed MPetey
@ I don’t know if the Canucks “scammed “ him, but I think they made a very good signing here.
He was being projected to fetch 6 point insert number, so him 5.5 is such a steal. Love the new positive direction this team is going in!!!
@@satisfyingVhe went for term over money so we’ve got him till he’s an old man but Swedes tend to age well.
I expect O'connor will resign 2 years aav 1.3-1.5, then time to figure out will BB6 accept contract extension. If not, we can target Mitch Manner or Rantanen for 13x7 deal in off season
How about “Pittsburgh Pete”
Easy solution: LeePett, LiePett, MarPett. You take the first unique syllable from each player's name, then the first syllable of their last name. Two syllables each makes it easy to say. Boom.
Soucy will be a good bottom pairing guy.. I say we keep him
Next Ekman Larsson
It's a good contract that will age well with the cap going up
Pittsburgh W Vancouver W
. He wanted more money. Earned it. Pettersson has offensive talent
I propose that we rename him to MP4 cause he shoots bullets and kinda hits hard also.
After 2 games? Let him play out the season, didn't they learn from the Petey extension.
They know enough about him from the past
@@nerinamak3298 yeah, I agree with brianw. They didn’t make the trade and extension without a pretty good idea of what they were getting. I don’t think you can compare this to the EP40 situation, which is a whole other issue. Apples and oranges.
@@bradley8368 There is no reason not to give him a month to see how he fits in. He's not going anywhere so why the rush?
@@nerinamak3298the cap is going up. Would have been more expensive to sign him later. And this was not expensive, unlike Elias Pettersson
@ They rushed to sign Pettersson last year and now they're paying 11.6m for a guy producing at a 7m level. You have a chance to give him a tryout period so take the time to evaluate. And in the end if you have to pay a little more than 5.5m so what, like you said the cap's going up and you'll have a better idea that he's worth what he's getting.
Great deal. I knew they’d get it done and even what the AAV would be. He will be Willander’s partner to start next year most likely. Then we have DPetey with Myers. Looks like we do need to trade Soucy after all. Likely happens at the deadline.
anything seravelli says, i divide by 6. the guy's a real schmuck.
EP40, DPETEY AND MDPETEY
NOW its a good trade with Pittsburgh
Hey man!..if this will means a 3Peat!!..b4 I pass!!..bring it on!!!
MP3 🎉
Why didn’t they resign zadorov if they did this anyways?
Vancouver matched Boston's contract. Zaddy said no and I'm glad he did. It's not working out in Boston and 5x6 is way too much for a bottom pairing LHD. They want to get rid of him and Lindholm as well.
M Petey costs 500k more but is a 2nd pairing LHD. He's only a 2nd pair because we have a generational defenceman in Hughes. On most teams, M Petey would be the 1st pair LHD.
I love the nickname repetey for Marcus Pettersson
Edit: please get rid of Juulsen
By the end of his contract if the cap goes up around 8 mil a year he will be paid around 3.5 mil a year relative to today. Basically the Tyler Myers contract. I'm OK with this.
MP3
in a year or 2 if the dcore looks like
hughes myers
petty hronek
petty willander
If that doesnt look like the best dcore in the nhl down the line, then idk what is
trade soucy for mid-6 winger, bring up/develop willander & mancini, sign a UFA top-6 center, draft a center
Dragon! 🐉
cheaper than when we sighed myers and i think markus is better overall
Team Petterson
MP3 ?
Would've been nice to see him play for a few games first 🤦♂️
Petey, D Petey, Threetey
Metey?
Is Markus and Petey brothers?
This is robbery imo. He could have gotten 7 million on the market.
not to mention the taxes he's paying up here compared if he went to the states
Ep40 ep25 n mp29
Very strange & highly preemptive signing.
Frankie Seravalli is an absolute joke
Frank Seravalli is a joke - not sure why he is relevant or popular
MP thats his name NOOB\
MP3 is was what I thought it was. lol
Canucks sucks I hate cheering for them , Vancouver is loser everything
why 6 yrs ? yuck
he's a very efficient and effective skater to go with his size. I have no issues with the extra year of term to reduce the AAV
6m with the cap going up is nothing for a top 4D
@@JohnRedCorn79 Is Marcus even a top 4 d man? That's debatable.
@@bluejaym237 while he is for the Canucks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ , we don’t need to him to be a super star racking up points. He’s gotta go out there and fill minutes while Hughes is on the bench. We got some young guns on tap
