As a Canucks fan, we needed that. Like look at what bad stretch we had. We do the trade and are also playing without our captain. I think if Quinn was in this game, the score would have been diffrent. The blueline just looks better after gettin MP3 and D'Petey emerging as a good enough dman. And Hronek has steped in to the Hughes role quite well.
The trade was great. Miller has looked really lacklustre the last two games.

Yeah, dude, it was actually a really dumb move to pin one overrated player (Miller) against one that actually has better PPG average in both play offs and regular season. The trade was great. Miller has looked really lacklustre the last two games. But this is more of the same ole', though. I cannot believe your turned your back to EP40 that easily.

Can't imagine the Leafs and their fans are too upset with finishing the road trip 3-1. Like Steve said probably the worst part of losing this game is having to sit on it for such a long time due to the 4 Nations break. Good win for the Canucks who get to carry their recent stretch of positive results and positive atmosphere through the break.
With a little more puck luck this game wouldn't have been as close since the Canucks hit like what 3-4 posts in the game.

10:43 was a standout save. The positioning by Lanky was almost perfect. It looked like a routine save.

I really don't understand this. You won 3 out of 4 on a Western road trip. I understand the need for a third line center, but I really don't think they played terribly tonight. Really good defense from the Canucks.
They definitely had a nightingale Vancouver on Friday. Their timing and passing was way off all game.

I know I'm biased being a Canucks fan, but I thought this was an exciting game with lots of great plays, defensive saves and goaltending. Both teams had their chances, but Vancouver capitalized on ONE more.

Why does half the team need to be injured before a coach forms the lines around Nylander, instead of just putting him in whatever position is left after the plan is done?
As a Canucks fan I always find it interesting what take you have After the leafs play Vancouver, the Canucks team defensively has improved 10 fold since the JT miller trade with the addition of Marcus and (D) Elias pettersson most teams are having a hard time cracking them atm. I think in the last 3 games they’ve let in 2 goals so imo that’s pretty sound hockey and with the subtraction of miller from the lineup tocc has been playing Pk lines against top matchups in shut down situations. Makes it hard to generate anything when your best defensive players are matched up against pretty much a power play line, I thought the leafs were fine today. A lot better then a couple weeks ago

Last time the Leafs won the cup was when there were only 6 teams in the league. Leafs don't have much to brag about.
I like to play a game with my wife where I scroll down Steve's recap videos and have her guess if the Leaf's won or lost that game. She guessed the Leaf's won this game because Steve was "smiling."
Good call with learning French, for your kids' sake. As someone who went through French immersion in school, but can't hold a conversation in it to this day, I can tell you it's really important to get some practice outside the classroom.

Even though I hate that we lost, I think it's a blessing in disguise for management to see that if they are serious about doing well in the playoffs, the leafs still got a few short comings that need to be fixed. This team needs stronger D and more balanced scoring for sure.
Bold of you to assume the leafs will have a chance to get to the second round. Unfortunately the team is built for regular season hockey, half their cap is on one line, playoff hockey is shutdown hockey, shutdown Nylander, marner and matthews and the leafs are out in 4.
I really liked the Domi deal, I was very happy for it but man has he been brutal this season. Starting to see why he has bounced around so much.

If I recall, the broadcast team liked the management of Woll at the beginning of that last PP. I found it weird too.
Vancouver was missing Hughes and Demko. With Miller and Lindholm traded, that is only 2/6 of the 2024 all stars left. Leaving only Boeser and Pettersson (who is in a career slump) to face the Leafs.
However, they have never seen D-Petey, M Petey or Chytl on the Canucks before.
I think everyone is going to know who D-Petey is next year.

I'm surprised that he didn't mention how Pettersson wasn't able to score an empty netter. That was the only positive thing I saw all night was they didn't give up even with time running out.
Steve, they not winning shit. The organization is refusing to do the one thing that needs to be done. Dismantling the core is a must. A huge trade like the Rantenen deal is needed.

Remember Domi played 10 games injured because BRAD doesn't have any center depth. Take away those 10 games his pace is higher. Still not ideal, but not a bad player.
I don't follow the Leafs so I haven't seen Mathews play very much. I have to say, the last 2 games against my Nucks, I still haven't seen him play. Midway through the first, I had to check if he was in the lineup.

The Leafs always choke in Vancouver. Just check the stats. That's why Matthews gave Lankinen the split second he needed to make that save. It's like a playoff game to them for some reason.

As an American leafs fan I like NOT having the score posted..it’s VERY hard to see a televised Leafs game here in arkansas..all I get are a leafs jelly highlight reel which I watch before Steve..for me this format works best so I can be pleased..or not
It’s actually a good strategy. If you don’t already know the score, you can’t ID the games when the Leafs lose. It’s a way to even out the views so that more people click on reactions to Leafs wins.
Lack of Depth scoring will prevent this team entirely
The Leafs' losing didn't really fell bad. They were in it, Mitch Marner was playing with heart from start to finish, and the Canucks had to win, and the Leafs were at the end of a long road trip.
There Will be lots of games like this in playoffs when you need a goal . They need to go and get a top 2 or 3C who can score . Nelson , Schenn , cozens , donato. On the lower end you have Laughton , gourde , ROR.
How you gonna do that with more than half of the current salary cap in 4 of 23 players...

I didn't see one podcast metion this or Sportsnet. When the Vancouver goalie left the game with apx 10 min left in the 1st they had 6 shots. At the end of the 1st the leafs still had 6 shots. So not one shot on a cold goalie what the hell
