Hello, thanks so much for this. I have had the pattern for a while but still didn't understand where to start. Igoogled 'Anatomy of a Fisherman's Kep' and your videos came straight up. It is exactly what I am looking for - Best wishes and happy new year for 2024 - Peter in Paris

a nice follow-along to the pattern. I supported the museum and have the pattern, but didn't find this video for over a year after. Well done

I had asked in my skeinworker's guild facebook page what I should do with a couple skeins of sock weight yarn that wasn't socks, and someone suggested a kep. I didn't know what that was, and when I searched google to find out, I was so excited to see your lovely Horde pattern in the very top of the search results! This hat is lovely and so personal, and your video was super encouraging (I know you said you made it for your daughter, but it felt like you were my mom talking to me, too!), and I definitely am less scared to try out colorwork when my yarn comes in, coincidentally for a set of For the Horde! fingerless gloves.

Roxanne Richardson has many, many videos on color-work and trapping floats...she’s a brilliant knitter technical knitter and an amazing teacher. Just thought you might want to check her out...thanks so much for the vids!! I’m a little behind the times, but wanted to see what all the fuss was about with both the “Keps” and “hatdama”🤷🏻‍♀️

You should check out Knitting Glossary by Schoolhouse Press. They teach a very elegant way of trapping.

Their videos are a bit costly though ☹️

Could you please indicate WHAT size needles you are using?

I used the sizes recommended in the pattern ( 1 and 2 ) but it's more important to use the needles that give you the correct gauge. 😊

I have the pattern, it says to co 180 which seem like a lot and the brim was large.

I thought it was going to be too big and I followed the pattern and instructions to the letter and I found the finished kep a little small for my 24 inch head.
