Well like they said, she already beat the best of the 3 dominant houses. And they had had a lot of wins under their belts. When the other students try, they get diced, disarmed, shot down, and generally beaten.
What's really scary is that she only needed the bits to shred one of these opponents and shield from one other. By and large, she out piloted them, she didn't just swarm them. Though those new thrusters helped a lot.
God, someone gets it. Everyone is always on about Suletta being "carried" by Aerial's bits, and while yes the bits give her a distinct advantage, she's also just an incredibly skilled pilot. It's what makes her so incredibly unfair to fight against. The funnels are already powerful enough on their own, but they're backed by someone who's been piloting their whole life.
Suletta doesn't have any plot armor but the Gundam she rides. It's been this way for most of the recent Gundam series where if you are not piloting a Gundam yourself, your chances of winning or surviving a Gundam encounter is low. IBO is the only rule breaker to this current trend so far.
@@tenchichan9170 Gundam IBO suits are not that powerful anyway vs the last series before it. Unicorn or 00 Gundam can probably beat the pants off of them including Mika suit. Also WFM also ofc. WFM is definitely on the upper tier of power level.

One terrifying thing to keep in mind: During the raid at the end of Season 1, Aerial was still set up with the school-mandated duelling power limiter, and yet her rifle was *still* powerful enough to vaporize a mobile suit.
They (megacorps) already run the show. But the students challenging her to 1v1 duels after everything she's shown off are arrogant and foolhardy. Yes, the great game is in flux, but that's because of the Aerial being a devastating machine and Suletta THE pilot for Aerial.

However, I personally agree it was a complete load. The first time they nullified it because they were sore losers who underestimated her and the second it was due to it technically being Miorine being the leader despite Suletta doing most of the work.

See, I always thought the way to defeat a pilot using funnels was to overload the pilot with things. Seeing as I’m sure there is some level of AI assisting in maneuvering all those bits, I figure if you can distract a pilot too much, they’ll lose track of bits, fail to maneuver them to there fullest advantage. Or make generous use of the CWIS to keep them from getting you. The problem is a pilot who is trained and experienced with bits is they’re probably prepared for that, and of course, it’s a Gundam.
I have to imagine that every student in the pilot program is rich. These duels are basically live-fire exercises with multi-million dollar machines. While we don't see any examples of a duel ending with an injured pilot, I have to assume that it's happened before. It almost happened in the 6v6 team duel when Suletta blocked a shot that probably would have detonated the power core of one of the opposing suits. Granted, the repairs kind of take on a class project feel, but we've seen Guel, Elan (#4, the old one), and Suletta absolutely dismantle opposing machines well beyond any reasonable repair.

I imagine this is to do with the two beam types. Training and war type. The training lasers never breach the space station outer hull, and this armor could also be used in the shield and cockpit. Additionally, the 'AI' that pilots Aerial might be very good at ensuring it never harms a pilot.
I'd chock it up as being written off as live prototype testing under research and development, if a kid going to school learning to operate these machines as a focus can do this well in them then there's no reason joe some recruited into the mobile corps can't do the same in times of war emergencies of needing pilots at the front immediately
There's also the comforting idea that the only part that has to be broken is an antenna, withe the Jetturk house suits having ones so big as to potentially draw fire from expensive components if not trick the enemy into being predictable enough to defeat. Given their ferocity and thoroughness, especially against Elan, I'm inclined to say that the limited output of beam weapons is about all that kept some students from being vaporized by the bits.
