If Staunton is inaccurate then prove it by compensating the SPMs & admonish the lot of them. Also Fujitsu should should be pledging at least the same as the Govt (public money). Any compensation should be paid out of the Fujitsu fund first until zero funds left then move onto public funds.
The phone ban feels odd to me as a mate who works in a school was telling me only last week that his school was planning on enforcing multifactor authentication for students. Dunno if this is a call from the education minister, but it certainly doesnt make much sense if banning phones aswell. Wouldnt be the most idiotic thing theyve ever come out with, but its still pretty stupid
It might not have been appropriate for Ava to announce her running for the leader of the Reform party on the Podcast. But her mandatory smoking and vaping policies are certainly interesting.
We absolutely need proper media literacy education. Ideally throughout secondary education so that by the time a kid gets to the age of 13, when they meet the requirements to join up to most of these social media websites, they have already had 2 years of relevant media literacy education.

i do think these by elections do show that Refoms national polling is over inflated. As Ed said, nationally they are polling roughly 10% averaged over the whole country. But that means that in some constituencies they will get close to nothing, if they even bothered standing a candidate. And in other more naturally rightwing, brexit voting, anti immigration seats they would get well above 10%. Like 15%-20%. If they're only getting 13% in one of their target seats like Wellingborough then they're not going to average 10% across the whole country. Its not like they aren't doing well for a small party. But they arent doing as well as their national polling, which means their national poll numbers are over inflated. And since the tories are using those national poll numbers to constantly scare themselves about the impact reform will have at the general election it might well be that they are jumping at shaddows

I say this as a social worker who works with sex offenders. The legality of sexting a 17 yo depends on the nature of the sexting. If it includes pictures, then it breaks underage porn laws. Otherwise it's just creapy and legally grey.

34 minute in you discuss Simon Danczuk and his disgraceful sexting a teenager. Firstly would we have this discussion if he had done this as a teacher rather than an MP? The same rules to teachers, etc should apply to all adults. Especially people elected to public office Secondly there is the whole issue of Danczuk exposing Cyril Smith. The Liberal MP who was a beast of man in the 1970s and 1980s. He even wrote a book about him. Thirdly he was MP for Rochadle during the exposing and trail of grooming gangs. Fourthly Simon Danczuk ex-wife, and married to him at the time, was a victim of child abuse/similar grooming he was caught doing. Danczuk sexting a teenager is a form of grooming. Correct: we have (pretty much) no place or power in the world stage. What reason would either sides in this conflict have to listen to what we think? Calling for a ceasefire now, while it obviously can’t happen, weakens our voice later when it becomes possible to have one.

It’s basically because women have a much greater value than men in dating in the modern day. So going from tinder stats the vast majority of all “likes” given from women to men are skewed in the top 5% of male profiles whereas male to female likes are normally distributed. So although tinder is not the end and be all it shows that “higher value” men empirically can have multiple sexual partners whereas the “average man” may only get some in their lifetime and “below average” will not get any.
So therefore if you want to have sexual partners you need to compete with other men, hence “maxxing” to try to get into or near enough the top 5%
But what if you’re the 20th or 10th percentile in terms of attractiveness? These are incels (trucels -> true incels) as opposed to mentalcels (mental illness, neurodivergence) or ethniccels (Indians etc, who on average struggle with dating in western society)
There’s also lookism which correlates with this: more attractive people tend to be treated better than unattractive people. So if you are an “ugly” “short” “weak jawed” “neurodivergent” man there’s little chance you will get laid and it’s not your fault…

This ongoing saga about Gaza is just tedious now. Starmer could have called for a ceasefire on the first day of hostilities, and the exact same number of people would be dead.
By this logic the UK doesn't need to speak out on anything that happens in other countries, because we have zero influence. Even though we help arm Israel.
If UK pressure helped the genocide end (the US will have to call it a day at some point) even one day early hundreds of lives would be saved and it would be worth it.
Furthermore I want to know what politicians will do in power. Starmer has shown he has no regard for innocent life and has outed himself as a disgusting human being - I don't expect him to do anything to help anyone but himself as PM.

But that's the point - UK pressure would not have stopped anything. I don't understand why people have a hard time grasping this - the UK's standing on the international stage is so severely reduced. The Israelis aren't even listening to the Americans or to the ICJ, I find it extremely unlikely Starmer's intervention will make any difference. People have been killing each other there for hundreds and hundreds of years.

"Israel should call a ceasefire" - what follows from this exactly? Is Israel going to get criticised if Hamas continues firing missiles and then Israel attacks again? Will the same "yeah but after the atrocities of Israel, you can't blame Palestinians for being angry".
Israel should withdraw all illegal settlements. They should agree to and stick to a ceasefire and start diplomatic conversations which will lead towards lasting. Israel cant agreee to a ceasefire but then continue to expand settlements. It won’t work.

Land swap does imply though that Palestinians would be compensated.
All the newer (post 2005) settlements though should be returned IMO.
Onto stick to a ceasefire. This is just dumb jargon. If Palestine, a free state in this scenario decides to attack Israel, there is NO reason for Israel to not defend itself.
