    I'll be 81 in December, and I dress the same way I did when I was younger. My mind is as sharp as when I got my doctorate and became an internationally known scholar, so why should I get fat and wear baggy "old lady" clothes? I wear skinny jeans, cowboy boots, business suits, skirts, blouses, as I did before the wrinkles appear. I'm too small for the outfits you show in your video, standing only 4'9" tall and weighing 85 lbs., I 've had strangers tell me I'm the hottest grandmother they've ever seen. Interestingly,although I have the ravages of time on my face and hands, people never believe I'm as old as they thought. I can see them give a start when I say I'm 80. So, ladies, if you live long enough, you get old. Revel in it and dress like a young woman.

      +Elaine Chaika Thank you, what a fabulous, inspirational post! Youth is so over rated - I've got more confident with every decade, am approaching 50 now and would never want to be 20-something again, been there done that and I always feel to quote the song: 'The Best Is Yet To Come'. All women should make it their mantra!

    a slightly brown woman? she was a beautiful african american woman. some of these comments made me LOL. instead of enjoying the ride, some of your comments are senseless, classless and the usual dribble, boo hoo. Get a life and go wear some crazy cool clothes and maybe the filmmaker will take pictures of you too.

    Years ago, I liked to wear nice clothes and look pretty. I somehow gave up and here I am 69 and finally I asked myself what happened to me? Nice to see this video. I need a huge overhaul. I could never get myself to get rid of my "old" outfits (lucky for me) I just put them away and I will get in shape and wear them again, only with a lot more bright colors. I'm sick and tired of this old me and trying to please everyone, except myself.

    I love love love this. I feel like I was born in the wrong era. I'm turning 50 and live in a very conservative area in Michigan....how do I own these looks without getting looks like I'm some eccentric kind of crazy?? I feel like I've been pretending my whole life, acting out what people expect me to be, or trying to "fit in", when all I really want to do, is don clothes like the ones in the video and hold my head high with the attitude of the beautiful lady that states "if other people don't like the way I look, I don't give a shit" (or something close to that) Help!! Any suggestions how to achieve this? I've never been one to really care about others opinions, but I also don't like to draw attention to myself. I just want to be the me that is hiding inside of me.

    • @glamdolly30
      @glamdolly30 8 лет назад +2

      +Dawn Lueders You know I just turned 47 and feel I am only just becoming me and thank God now have the confidence to know what looks good on me and go for it! If you're in tune with your own unique plus points and know how to play them up (this is a work in progress for everyone) I don't feel there's ever a danger of 'getting it wrong'. I recommend Simon Doonan's book on 'Eccentric Glamour - How to Create An Insanely More Fabulous You' he tackles the subject with joy and chutzpah, it's a fun and inspirational read. And if you take a few risks with your look and stand out from the beige crowd then hey - enjoy the second looks you get from strangers - who wants to be invisible? Love and luck to you and enjoy the journey to a glamorous, fun and fabulous you! X

      I think the key is the play dress up like you did when you were a young teenager. Sort through your stuff and try on lots of different combinations. Hats are a great way to add a bit of interesting style. They don't have to be small evening hats! they can be Fedora or another classic hat. So many interesting more daytime casual but elegant, timeless, traveler, type of looks. Find a couple of nice light scarfs. Shoes that are a bit interesting but still comfortable. You do need to feel great wearing your clothes or they will be wearing you.

    Style is certainly not "inborn"! It is acquired; otherwise the premise that wisdom, courage, spirit and freedom comes with years of living flies right out of the window! No woman should feel doomed because elegance is not in her genes.
    Taste as well is acquired. The line between freedom and ridicule is very thin, and "less is more" applies at any age.

    • @shyblondebbw
      @shyblondebbw 8 лет назад

      +Ewa Gersin Why do you feel less is more? I agree with that statement to an extent but not when it comes to wisdom, courage, spirit and freedom. Sometimes more is just enough. The line is very thin, but only to people who like to ridicule others for what they don't agree with or understand, and that applies at any age. I wish I had the courage and spirit these women have and maybe by the time I become their age I will!

Where are the African American women with their wonderful head dresses, Muslim and Hindu women in colourful outfits? He needs to spread his net a little wider, not difficult in New York I would have thought. I have taken care of my body too over the decades. Unfortunately I was a decade late in getting an under active thyroid problem diagnosed so I am not stick thin. Not every overweight person is a self indulgent face stuffer.
