I had to rewind and rewatch. It's indeed brilliant as an element of surprise tactic.
Last month on the top of the tech tree I grinded STB-1 and I don't know why but I actually liked this tank. Gun handling is amazing, good mobility and can bounce few shots as well.
Maybe you liked it cause it's recongized in-game as a very strong tank!?

Sta-1 can work if you are experienced, know how to use its strenghts and play as a team.
Otherwise it's a weak tank as it has no ground holding power in a 1 vs 1.
Meanwhile ppl just go full yolo in progetto 46 and borat and reap easy 2k-3k combined every game
To be fair I liked this tank and fund the gun pretty powerfull but yeah very complicated to play I guess
In a stark contrast to the Type 61, I quite enjoyed this vehicle. I always played it similarly to the Pershing and that worked out fairly well for me. Stuck at about 93% for MoE, though.
Same tbh, i have both sta-2 n sta-1, i just wish they will buff sta-2 a bit for dpm n pen. Overall the grind was pretty ok, but the grind for type 61 without the upgraded turret is just pain, at least with small gun you can output a high af dpm with upgraded turret
When I gridrd that line, I loved the sta 1. In fact, the t8-10 were all so good, tho the type 61 wad such a sweet spot for me

I sold STA-1 (& t8 premium version), couldn't make it work, gun wouldn't pen much, armour bad, slow, arty loves you, and seemed outclassed by Russian meds of the time.
if you ever wanted your Tiger II to be a bit more agile even if it will deal a bit less dmg, this is the tank you actually want.
I love the STA-1 and 2, imo if you're an LT and TD player you will too. The STA-1 and 2 feels like and plays like a sniping TD and is capable of spotting like a LT.
This tank made me quit the stb-1 line. Awful grind
The Chi-ri is great though.

@@afanofblacksabbath269 I can't make the Chi-Ri work. Slow tank, paper armor like the Chi-Ho and Chi-Nu, low alpha. Sure the auto-loader is cool, but I'd rather have a single shot gun doing 390 DMG than having to be in the open for two seconds longer than I need to be to shoot the magazine. Also poor camo. Tier 5-7 have been a pain to grind and takes me forever. I'm not sure I will continue the line once I finish the Chi-Ri of the STA1 isn't a vast improvement for me.
Japanese Mediums should get access to their Suspension Mechanic earlier. Being exclusive to the STB-1 is silly. Would give players a chance to become comfortable with it before being thrown to the sharks. This tank Stock is a huge pain in the ass.
The first Japanese tank I actually enjoy playing, it is a thinking mans tank no armor, ok speed, and gun can hit some hard shots and you have to think carefully where your going. Difficult and fun at the same time, low damage per shot, but it does add up. Thanks for the index page skilll, a hidden gem.

Surprisingly the STA-1 was quite nice. Very decent gun with depression and reasonable mobility. Japanese medium, paper armor is expected, but you can pull off lucky bounces. Kinda big, but to be learnt from the Chi-Ri.
Type 61 was a pain stock, but was amazing with the 105mm. STB-1 didn’t disappoint of course.
I like this tank but I played it mostly stock because it needs a lot to get to last gun which is the one with good pen. Stock gun is rather meh and you have to play with it A LOT (tracks, turret, gun research like 80+ k xp)
I like the Japanese med line. It's very balanced with its flows too and it can be pretty rewarding.
It seems to me that if a tank is built to be a sniper, i'd consider using binocs.
I play like an idiot too. I just don't do it in front of a lot of people. Kudos for showing us the good and the bad. We learn more from mistakes. Am grinding this tank too. It is difficult.
Lol my experience with the sta1 35%win rate over 70 games. In all my games my team somehow magically melts away or throws right at the end.
the tank is legit bad juju, either you some how make the herculean effort and carry with this shit box, or you lose. you're team will not win for you if you're on the team

I don’t remember being this sad grinding a tank. Absolutely 0 armor whatsoever, very bad camo, average mobility. DPM would be very nice but gun handling is terrible again. 0.35 dispersion on paper, in reality I feel better sniping with russian heavies.
Sad you couldn't finish the 780 in the 2nd game. Yesterday, I was working on light missions, and took out a 780 in my Even 90. He burned to death. lol. Soon advanced players will know the spots on the 780 to make it burn.
I can't make this and type 61 work for some reason. Funnily enough, I actually like Chi-Ri much more, although that was years ago so that might change.

HI Skieell it wasnt donkey play at all Imo, It happans for everyone. 780 has extremely trollish armor vs tier8s and the likes and ur gun was also trolling u to the maximum. If I were u I would blame RNG lol

For anyone struggling with this tank try and switching out the vert stabs for improved aiming device.
The handling is already quite good but the accuracy is absolutely horrible.
Also if you have the type 61, imo don't bother with the 105 mm, the 90mm on the type 61 is so much better handling and amazing DPM, only thing you'll have to do is load a lot of gold shells but I don't have that issue often even when playing against tier 10s.
The 90 mm is great as a stock gun but 105 on that tank is actually incredible. For less dpm, you get better pen and alpha, and the accuracy on it is great too, meaning that it could be more flexible and even play in cities well, imo. The type was actually my favorite in the entire line
I liked the Type 61 with the 105mm because of standard pen. I don't mind using gold from time to time but even with STA-1 I once went -50k credits after battle because I had to shoot at so many tier IX heavies that round.
@@pirig-gal I fire standard against most tier 9s and manage fine. The only times I really run up a fine is in high damage games when I run out of standard rounds lol.
@@theBhavMan the 90mm has far superior gun handling than the 105mm. I don't run vert stabs at all, just vents, rammer and aiming device for that .3 accuracy.
The 105 defo has its place but for me the gun to play with is the 90mm. You don't have armor anyway so if you get caught out you need to cut yourself out and that's the DPM.
With field mods and premium consumable and directive alone you'll have smth like 3.8k DPM lmao.

I like it very much. Not the easiest, but I have a good ratio in it. Just play not too aggressive.
This is 3 star tank for sure. This tank is the epitome of average. DPM and penetration are above average. Armor, speed & mobility are below average. These all cancel each other out. Everything else about this tank is very average. 240 alpha is average. Gun handling is average. 0.36 dispersion and 2.1 second aim time are very average. View range of 390m is very average.
Agree completely. It’s a very average tank, not great but not terrible. It has no real strengths but also not super weak compared to other tier 8 meds. This is the first of the Japanese meds that can actually bounce a rare shell off the turret.
The tanks leading to it make a mountain of trash. And and the end you get a slightly above average tank that is hard to play.

Don't. STA-1 is much better. First of all, despite the recent buffs, STA-2's gun feels unreliable, whether you have vstabs or improved aiming. Also, the tank is much higher than its tech tree counterpart and is easily penned being made of paper. Last but not least, if I remember correctly my current setup on STA-1 (vents vstab gun rammer) gives it 300 dpm more compared to STA-2, with same equipment and crew.

Imo in the first match Skill played too passively in the mid-game. Putting pressure on the enemy would have helped the team to survive for longer.

This tank is at best below average. You have very little power to change the game. Things are even worst when you dont have top gun, where bullet speed is 850m/s . Awful, Im thinking to just use free xp to spare my sanity...

have 1.8k dpg including stock grind but it was okay, the type 61 however i despise currently, stock grind was even worse since u have no camo and armour and penetration, from my normal 2.6k ish dpg across all tier 9s on type i have barely 1900

this tank is simply bad, no doubt about it, if you are a good player, you can compensate it. for me, the gun, with 3 skill crew, is less accurate than a birthday confetti. while playing this tank i thinked about stop playing wot
STA-1 is high skill tank, ordinary people who only play OP tanks(su130, skorpG), shouldn't come near this tank.
