    I'm not sure shorts, flip flops and tall grass while snake hunting is the best idea, but on a lighter note, health care in Japan is really good and fairly cheap! 😂 but I love your videos so keep them coming!

      @loub747  6 лет назад +2

      Yeah, I sorta grew up on the beach, so I live in shorts and sandals. But you're right. More on the way.

    1:46 how cool, it's like they're waiting for you. "Lou! Welcome back, where ya been?" 6:57 love those things, nobody messes with them. When you're finding those kinds of snakes, one is enough. Cool you found the sunglasses. 😎

    Another video from Japan ! Though you didn't find many snakes, it was still awesome! The keelback moment was hilarious - all those preparations and then "AAAAgh, he's gone!" I would definetely grab it with my hand, especially when it's so tiny. I guess, I always do it that way.)))

    • @loub747
      @loub747  6 лет назад +2

      Yeah, all that prep for nothing. Such is life. It is a venomous snake, so I wasn't going to grab it. Even though it's rear fanged. It also secrets a poison on it's neck. Not worth the risk, although I thought about it for a quick second.

    Wow, a shame about that keelback. He looked so tiny and fast though, seems it'd be a rare thing to actually catch one.
    Anyway, great video, Lou. Lots of excitement! 😁

    I caught my first snake today...OMG thank you for your videos and information. I let it go after about 2 seconds...I knew it wasn't poisons...because of you (forest rat snake)...being drunk helped! Thank You for your posts...I'm an avid hiker here and had several run ins with snakes...now I know not to fear.

    Beauty of a keelback. Maybe next time you could just wear gloves? A lot of European herpers wear gloves for handling adders and I doubt a keelback could penetrate them.

    • @loub747
      @loub747  6 лет назад +1

      Yeah, gloves would definitely work. I told myself a long time ago I would never handle a venomous snake, even a rear fanged one like this. But proper gloves would make it tempting. Hmmm

    For a brief moment at 13:08 it looked like you wanted to use your hand to pick up that keelback. Would certainly be tempting! Great video as usual, though I'm not sure I agree with the sandals in venomous snake/centipede territory. So are these flip sites that you've setup yourself over the years or that you've found? You must have the largest distribution of flip sites out of all the other RUclips herpers.

      LouB747 In addition to being a rail, Aviation, and snake geek I’ve been to Japan a few times and used The Keisei line and the Narita Express Trains through Chiba. Until this video, I had no idea that there were venomous snakes in Chiba. I was actually in Kariya Japan in Aichi Pref. and saw signs warning of venomous snakes. Thanks again for all your videos.

    I love your videos but you really shouldn't handle snakes when they're opaque & that's not a hook. Sorry but they're the facts Lou ☺️

    • @loub747
      @loub747  6 лет назад

      Yeah, they are tongs. I have a hook too. And why shouldn't you handle a snake that's gonna shed?

    • @Spacey7
      @Spacey7 6 лет назад

      LouB747 I know you have hook but you were calling the tongs a hook. You don't/your not supposed to handle captive snakes when they're opaque {unless absolutely necessary} because it stresses them out so what do you think it does to a wild snake. Its a fact & any reputable snake keeper knows this.
