How is this a reboot, this is a continuation of the franchise. A reboot is a remake like that forgettable Jaden Smith movie.

You can tell William is so humble...both of them are but you can tell William is grateful for being able to get back into acting!
I spent an entire summer about 15 years ago re-watching Karate Kid almost every other day. I can't believe that this not only worked, but both hit the nostalgia and gave me something totally new at the same time. Cobra Kai is the gold standard for rebooting a classic franchise.
I knew I should have bought stock in Cobra Kai 35 years ago...

The writers are geniuses. They were always given opportunities before were pitched many scripts over the years and turned them down. Finally they both agreed upon one that really does the movies justice. Im so connected to this series.

I have been a die hard fan since 1984....ya'll are literally answering my prayers bringing Karate kid to this generation...I got utube red now premium for the sole purpose of watching cobra kai. Keep it up for as long as they'll let you! Love you guys!
Billy Zabka is funny and has a good sense of humor. No wonder he was more interested in doing comedy, but instead always got cast as a bully.

Pat Morita. I miss him. This show is great, but there's an emptiness to it because he's not there.
Miyagi's grave is going to be a core feature of the series. Calling it.
Flashbacks, lots of flashbacks.
I actually think his loss adds tremendously to the show. It makes the flashbacks so much more impactful and makes for a great tribute to his passing.
@@colorblindboxing7207 Exactly! His physical absence, yet spiritual presence drives a great deal of Daniel's contribution to the show. I feel as though Pat Morita would be proud of what he's become such a huge part of and how this show honors that legacy with every fiber of its being.

This was Johnny's first time as a sensei. He was training his charges pretty much the way he himself was trained, and it showed at the tournament. The wake-up call came in the form of watching his own son (trained by another sensei) get mashed on two separate occasions by his top students. He is not going to make that mistake with the new students he turned away in the second-season trailer.
Daniel is also in his first time as a sensei. His training of Robby indicates that he has retained almost all of his own sensei's teachings. That included sportsmanship and patience, an indicator that Robby is not going to need to be dealt with (quite) in the manner that Miguel and Hawk rightfully were. Almost all of his new students can be reasonably expected to follow and stay on the pacifist path.
Kreese's return will bring a third teaching style into sharp focus. He will be bringing a very serious and sordid history to the table, one that predated Courtney Henggeler's birth by several years. When the third season is filmed, don't be surprised to see flashbacks to his own years in the war.
Excellent call on the Vietnam War flashbacks! This will help show that Kreese is more than 1-dimensional character; perhaps feeling "defeat" and being put-down by anti-war activists upon discharge from Vietnam service helped spawn his "win by any means necessary" philosophy.

Ralph is 5 years older now than Miyagi was in the first film (52) and Miyagi looked 100 years old and Ralph looks 30 (57) lol.

@@allencarey7336 Ralph is a natural. Didn’t you see him in The Outsiders, or Crossroads, or Teachers? He is one of the most underrated actors. In Cobra Kai he is portraying a complete different Daniel Larusso to the one we already knew, and he is just killing it. William acting is also outstanding and amazing.

I like along with Hilary Swank, some of the original Cobra Kai who were featured in Season 2 Episode 6 come back in Season 3 especially Bobby who was the most decent Cobra Kai in the original KK movie.

I haven't watched season 1. 1st time watching an interview with both Ralph & William. Watching the 1st 6 minutes and just gotta say it's a bit strange watching these guys sitting next to each other talking friendly and not wanting to kill each other. Obviously, great actors.
I'm SO glad Season 1 addressed that Larusso's "crane kick" was ILLEGAL yet he still won! Season 2 is gonna be awesome!

It’s funny watching Ralph sitting on the couch wondering why his costar is sitting so close to him? He literally is right next to him when he could have spread out.
season 2 finale was INSANE hope they can meet the expectations in season 3!
They have so much respect for each other and make the perfect team, it also seems like the karate kid movie shaped who they are today.
Just finished 2nd season and Wow! Really well written and left me sad it ended with so many cliffhangers ahead! Hate the wait for season 3! Well done producers and actors!❤

Zabka was a showbiz kid, so probably in the industry, unless he did something in English, which I think he was reading at university.

Ralph Macchio had already had a main role in the Outsiders movie. He played the "Johnny" role in that classic film.
Daniel LaRusso would have been getting his ass kicked in real life where William Zabka would be kicking some hardcore ass!!

I like when a story continues with original main characters interacting as well as representing new main characters with fresh new continuing conclusions adding on to the saga for "Karate Kid" as well as perfecting small follow up story's for it with "Cobra Kai". I personally like "CK" over "MMKD" because of the parallel in the "teen" characters situations from the two dojo's "flip" in the show compared to the first movie that started the whole story.
Started to do matrial arts again after 12 years. Had a similiar experience when i was younger, got bullied till i fought back.

William is a Port Washington, NY native!! And Daniel is from Miller Place, also part of Long Island, pretty cool. These guys did a lot of memorable movies, hopefully they can expand their universe after the series is over. They don't deserve type casting.

I love how they're making references to a lot of 1970s and 1980s popular culture, and unless you're 50 or near it, most of their audience has no clue what they're talking about (Archie Bunker, William Matthau & The Bad News Bears, etc.). It's a little sad, because those are classics.
