    You would think that the pros who play in all different conditions would have already known the impact of a wet ball on his yardage?

    • @MarkCrossfield
      @MarkCrossfield  5 лет назад +2

      He knows he just wanted to retest to help with a few shots that had gone long. Also using the new irons wanted to test the 9 was hitting his number when he needs it. 👍👍

    Mark, had a "discussion" with you a few months ago after the whole strokes gained/Dan vid. Took a hard look at my game and the info you provided and it has really helped get me close to scratch. I was wrong and kind of a prick. I apologize. Keep up the good info

    Great vid Mark, really interesting to see a pro asking questions, challenging his own understanding and still trying to work it out!

    Absolutely love these videos. Really cool seeing the type of things the pros are working on when on the range.

    Love this!!! Liam totally reinforcing your study. You can't test spin in these kinds of conditions that aren't controlled... Gotta play golf!!!

    Now explains my last round. Dewy day. Every iron shot went 5-10
    Yds more than I expected. Thanks for this

    I saw a video once where a Pro soaked his driver face to get a longer drive on trackman. SO interesting to see carry distance in all the scenarios. Centre contact is still the most important factor. Cheers Brah!

    These range videos with Liam and the (non-Muppet) tour players are such a treat! Absolutely love them. Love how you then follow up the discussion by testing with Dan and Coach in following videos. /big fan from Sweden

    Great vid on flyers. When I'm playing in damp conditions I notice I loose a ton of spin on approach shots. I try to compensate by easing up on swing speed because grabbing a shorter club might not get me there.

    Another interesting video, although I knew wet conditions dropped spin I still hit the same shot when it’s wet, guess I need to learn to strike it more consistently before worrying too much about fliers though.

    another great video. Good to know what happens in wet conditions.... wet ball and or wet club. What will happen with a wet ball with a dry Driver? Also less spin and more distance?? Or does bulge and roll make it a difference😉? I think so.... What do you think??

    Yep, definitely caught out by this recently. Played a par 3 at my club that was playing 120 slightly uphill, my p wedge goes 125 so I thought that was ideal as the green slopes from back to front and bunkers short. I hit it pure and loved it in the air but was surprised to see it fly all the way over the back and left a tough chip that I couldn’t get up and down from. Golf is hard sometimes 😂

  • @seanmalyon
    @seanmalyon 5 лет назад

    Interesting. Does the type of ball you play make a difference? For instance, will a Srixon repel more water than a Titleist?

  • @peteraloisio3533
    @peteraloisio3533 5 лет назад

    Is that why whenever the lift and place rule is available during play, should we (average golfers) take advantage of that by drying the ball and club? Even if the ground you're placing it in is still wet?

  • @peterguildford2133
    @peterguildford2133 5 лет назад

    I've obviously been a bit naïve about the difference in distance/spin between wet/dry balls and club face. But to be honest it has only been in the last couple of months that I've got some accurate carry distances via the new Top tracer at our local driving range. How have I managed to get along without that info' I just don't know. It will be interesting to see how I go this season with this new knowledge.

    Mark, in regards to what Liam said about bernd’s strike location relative to the 5th groove and CG location, and he then mentions that if this wasn’t so close to the 5th groove that this would be a club performance issue, which characteristics or elements of the club’s spec would you (or Liam) look to change/improve/ say is causing this impact location to become too low or high?

  • @AM-df3bc

    Slightly less drop off at 6400 with wet face and wet ball compared to 600 dry face wet ball. Let that face get wet as well as ball?

  • @AnthonyEspositoTheStallion
    @AnthonyEspositoTheStallion 5 лет назад

    Absolutely, especially if that ball is sitting up in the rough in all wet conditions - FLYER !!!!

  • @kourt2469
    @kourt2469 5 лет назад

    That line also can be used to check lie angle, I get what the pro was trying to say, but if you do that you're also at the mercy of how perfectly level you can place the ball on the ground relative to the line. I'd argue no one can line it up perfectly level so there's not much of a point in using it for lie angle anyways.

    • @MarkCrossfield
      @MarkCrossfield  5 лет назад

      That line is used more vertically

    • @kourt2469
      @kourt2469 5 лет назад

      @@MarkCrossfield yeah I'm aware but I'm saying the horizontal line also accomplishes the same thing. But again you're at the mercy of how well you place the ball on the ground.

    I don't play every week so not regularly in the wet. However, I shot my best round by a country mile when it was raining.
    Maybe the extra yardage meant I was just hitting it as far as I think I do! Us amateurs hay
    Think I need to get myself down to Paultons Golf Centre Toptracer driving range and dial in my numbers!! 😉

    A frustrating video for me . Its like he was trying to blame the equipment for his bad play. Surely at that level he should know different conditions will give different results, and he doesn't he needs a new caddie. Thanks for your efforts Mark.

    It's strange how it's only now that the effect of a wet ball / club is having on shots is bring discussed. Given the millions a shots hit by top pros over the years and all of a sudden it's a big thing. Just saying.
