The Saddle River is a shared border with Wallington. There are three bridges over the Passaic River crossing the municipal and county line to Passaic and Clifton in Passaic County. The borough is also home to the architecturally prominent Russian Orthodox Church of Three Saints, which serves the growing Ukrainian American community in western Bergen County.
I miss Garfield so much moved around 17 years old I did not want to move I lived 131 ray next to fire house 4 my dad was a fireman there thanks for this
Thanks again so good to be able 🙌 😊 for this year 🙌 🙏 ❤ is good morning Lawrence
Good morning!
I'm not sure how many would remember it, but Garfield had a great drum and bugle corps first called the Holy Name Cadets, then became the Garfield Cadets. They have numerous national and state championships, and are still active and headquartered now in Allentown PA. I competed against them in drum corps I was in, one of them St. Lucy's Cadets, in the late sixties and early seventies.
I lived on MacCarthur, Sampson and Wessington from 2004-08. Garfield was honestly so weird and the school systems sucked but for some reason I miss living there
I'm literally crying right now I miss home so much
Me to and I moved over 20 years ago now 2001
Personally, I think Bergen County needs to be renamed, "Garfield & Friends"! 😂😂😂😂
My hometown: I lived there from 1996 to 2006 before moving to nearby Lodi. I live in Phillipsburg in Warren County, NJ.
It looks like a super nice town. I guess they also have a good lasagna 😄
You drive fast or is just my impression?
(Sorry my English)
Yes they do
I lived in Garfield first on Maple, then on Palisade Ave, Wessington, Marsellus Place, and finally up near the park on Pierre Ave. This drive was a bit too fast for my aging eyes, but it was a flash back in time. What always seemed to be long walks to school, were really no more than about a mile away. Thank you for your drive by.
I lived on Somerset St, Spencer Place, and then Gaston Avenue.
Yessir I lived on wessington 😭
Garfield becomes beautiful
My family lived @45 Harding Ct from 1965.I grew up in Lodi and Garfield when it was mostly Italian, and Polish people .my aunts and uncles lived there. My doctor in the 60's ,was Doc Conte the same one who was shot in the Sopranos series. My Dad worked for the public works my late brother, who died 2020 had a car lot on river rd. I bought my brand new 65 mustang from werner ford on river rd when the show room was where firematic is. I fell in danherts lake while ice skating and had to be rescued spent a month in beth isreal hospital with pneumonia. Had some good times there until i married in dec 69. I remember when they broke ground for that russian church. Took a long time to get erected. My great granparents had a house next to the firehouse on plauderville ave.we used to husk the corn for the firemans picnic back in the 50s. There used to be a lot of disco clubs in the 60s including the Choo Choo club next to the train trestle where the young rascals played.
It’s so cool running into people on here my dad grew up in the 60-70’s he was a fireman at no 4 on ray street we lived right next door to it forever until we moved in 2001 I was 16 ,37 now, but I remember going up to Belmont park a lot and danerts as well I grew up in the 90’s played bath Ruth baseball a lot of great memories
Also my and I used to go to conte and Gary muccino as well I wonder if goodfellas restaurant is still there probably long gone by now
@@Jordan-sv3pu Goodfellas is there. Both Dr. Contes are gone.
Doc Contes were my ex-husbands cousins@@Tom52NJ.
This is basically the way to my aunt's house

They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. We all know where bad intentions get you, but where do all the half-hearted, lilly-livered intentions get you? They get you right there, to Garfield. In a state that might as well be called "The Wasteland State," doubly appropriate due to all the wasteoids managing all the toxic waste.
I grew up in Garfield, on Wood St., (named after a Civil War general) between Semel and Plauderville, in a house they tore down in the 80s to build McPartments. It was a good place to grow up in the 70s, and an even better place to LEAVE in the 80s for the teeny-weenie-bit more upscale town of Elmwood Park before leaving the USA on a jet plane to never be back again, except virtually through street-view maps and videos like this one, for which I am grateful.
Like I always tell everyone: I spent the first half of my life in Garfield, and the better half here in Europe.
Places no longer on the maps: Joan Corey's Collector store on Passaic St., Charlie Real on Passaic street. He moved to Switzerland in the 90s I heard. Edelmann's Bakery on Lanza Ave., the little Post Office on Palisade, and the little Post Office on Passaic Street.
Is the infamous Kiggi Island still there? Used to be a big island we used to wade to from the Garfield side and pretend we were on Gilligan's Island, trying to shoot rats with bows and arrows.
I remember when Emil's Foodtown was on the corner of Plauderville before they moved it to Lanza. Interesting that the video ends at the PathMark. St. Stan's church is still there but the school that used to be on the upper 2 floors is not. Funny how when I look up data on the city, I recognise most of the names because I went to school with a lot of them.
I guess those were the people who looked around and liked what they saw, whereas every day I'd wake up in Garfield, one of my first thoughts was always "there has GOT to be a better way." Like they say, I took the path less travelled, and that has made all the difference.
Like you wouldn't believe.
No entendí dices que es un mal lugar para vivir?
May your God give you a lot of children
In this episode of ‘Why is this recommended to me’
I moved away from garfield and the next thing I see when your driving was my dojo where I used to practice

A lot of history to grow up.
No Garfield isn't really a good town. It's people and the education system are a joke.
Sarah Thomas it’s a nice town but not worth visiting

Or maybe mayberry😮 princess 👸 💖 🤔 😏 😉 😜 primary primacy

Garfield is a mix of bad and good but it is mostly affiliated with its bad side. The people and the education aren’t good and it’s a lot worse then how it used to be.
Lived there for 59 years and it was a beautiful place to grow up start a family. Could not wait to get out. Overcrowded and overpriced. Taxes are on the high side. Free food and free preschool is the worst thing they could have done. People give false addresses and reap the benefits. Cars stolen package thieves. Drugs deals. Fireworks and music constantly from spring to fall. Good luck sitting in your yard enjoying a quiet night. Glad I’m out.
Moze Teresa Janiec ma pieniądze?
