“Entertaining for me personally” YES. Something I think a lot of horror fans (or film nerds in general) forget is that sometimes it’s just about having fun. And no one can tell you what you are or are not allowed to enjoy. Also fun fact, I still have my Prom Night movie ticket
I think people get so caught up in if a movie is technically "good" that they forget to see if they actually enjoy it. There are so many movies out there that I can recognize as "bad" on critical level when you're pulling it apart, but are just so much fun to watch that it doesn't even matter
Well said. Genre movies like horror, kung fu, spaghetti westerns, etc are often technically poor compared to more mainstream films but are sooo much more enjoyable for me to watch. It doesn't have to be "good" to enjoy it.
I also love those 3, my friend and I are watching Sorority Row this month for the horror queers podcast. He hasn't seen it I don't think, but Jessica is hilarious so I hope we'll laugh a lot
Sorority Row and House of Wax are genuinely good movies, don't understand the hate. Black X-Mas is just disgusting and not in a fun way. Not big on incest, cannibalism and eye injuries, but that's just me.
@@PossessedbyHorror Blair witch 2 was actually supposed to be really good and was gonna be more in tune with the original, but that douchebag Harvey Weinstein wanted it to be more like a dumbass camera film like the original so they literally just edited out every good idea
About "Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight" - pretty sure it's rated that low by Polish people, because we hate ourselves, it's a whole thing. It has an audience rating of 4.4 stars on Filmweb, which is like Polish IMDB.
Ratings on horror films are skewed. Everyone bashes the unoriginality of them, but in my opinion the more cheese/camp the more endearing to put on and just chill. Then again I own a lot on this list and many other 2000's horror films and enjoy the nostalgia of them.
yeah its like... what do you EXPECT from a horror movie? a trauma? many people will rate disturbing movies lower. A slasher movie? It can't not be camp. Mystery/ambiance? Too slow. Just a paranormal horror? Predictable and has been done before.
One of my favorite low rated horror movies is Jennifer's Body. It has more of a dark comedy essence, but it has its cheesy 2009 high school kid moments. But, I feel like the whole story is good, and the cheesiness brings nostalgia for me.
Love you, Sarah! So happy to hear you still intend on posting on this channel, horror is my absolute favorite genre and you are one of the very few I keep coming back to for recommendations and reviews, which is why I subscribed over a year ago - absolutely loved your personality and energy and soon after subscribed to your main channel. Whatever happens in the future, know that I appreciate everything you do!❤ I hope you're recovering well post the procedure, I too have insane dentist anxiety and fear.
I love your channel. I am 51 and have loved horror since I was 5 when my mom took me to see JAWS in 1975. I also go to conventions like monster mania... 💗💗💗💗
One horror movie I love that most don’t is “13 Ghost”. I love how they decided to represent the ghost, but definitely wish they went more into the back story. I really loved the actors. It’s one of the first horror movies I remembered sooo it’s nostalgic.
It feels so refreshing to have a horror channel run by a woman. We don’t have enough women talking about horror on yt. I love your videos you always include movies that don’t get enough spotlight 💖💕
I love I am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House. It is gorgeous, creepy, and extremely memorable. It's basically moving horror poetry. The voice effect on her narration is soo chilling. Just love it.
Sarah, I was jumping out of happiness when you said you wanted to check out the silent hill games. The story, the music... Everything about those games are IMMACULATE. Especially the second one. I'd very like you to play/watch those games and make a review video. Im sure you'll love them and cant wait to hear your ideas and opinions!
As a big horror buff, I have been sitting here racking my brain going “did I NOT see pulse?” As impossible as it may seem to me, I don’t think I did! ONE of the reasons I love your channel so much. I’ve actually seen a few movies on lists you have that I haven’t seen and This is why I really appreciate your content and reviews. I have also given a few a chance I thought I would hate and was pleasantly surprised myself so thank you! 😊
I always end up defending the Wrong Turn sequels in spite of them being slaughtered by critics. Sure, they're dumb, but I'm never bored with those films.
Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight is really fun and highly watchable and as you said, VERY self-aware. It does have a 67% on RT, but the audience score is terrible. Maybe the fact that it was a Polish film and dubbed is what prevented people from really giving it a chance? Anyway, it deserves to be seen!
Thinking of "relatively"low rated horror movies what comes to mind is Last Shift with a 5.8 IMDb rating. I really dig this movie and it was genuinely very terrifying.
Love you Sarah and so happy to hear that you're staying on this channel & that you're not leaving RUclips. But my guilty pleasure on your list is the Prom Night remake. It has the perfect amount of cheese for me and I consider it one of my comfort movies. I would love to see you on twitch playing Silent Hill! I would definitely be following you on there too.
Dont Blink was a very good movie and I'm surprised I never hear much about it any longer until I ran into this. A very clever 'whats going on here' film with an even better ending. Underrated.
feardotcom, THANK YOU! My favorite low rated movie! Just something about the visuals. Plus, my all-time greatest favorite movie critic Roger Ebert (RIP) actually recommended it!!! That chaotic black and white scene close to the end, hello, can you say classic German expressionism-inspired??? Love your channel and love you!
I absolutely love Chernobyl Diaries. I've seen it so many times, most recently just last week. I can watch it anytime. I don't know why exactly, I just love every minute of it. Great list!!
I've been meaning to suggest this video..! 😍 I have a lot of lists i'd love your take on..: 🖤 - best "game" movies (like Saw, Would you rather etc.) - best psychological horror - movies related to parent/child -relationship - very disturbing but awesome (like Midsommar, Antichrist, etc.) I'd be super excited to see any of these! Your videos have inspired me to start watching much more horror movies, and actually more movies in general - thank you. :)
Shrooms has been on my favourites list for many years; it was the first horror I saw with that kind of twist and I was enamoured from the first time I watched. Seeing it now I understand why it gets the criticism it does but still unashamedly in my top 10.
In the process of watching “Await Final Instructions” now. So far loving it. Next will be “Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight”. Thanks for the suggestions.
I would LOVE to see you stream and play games!!!! I really enjoy your commentary and I think being able to interact with you would be awesome, especially with a franchise I love like silent hill!!
I LOVE how you explain some of these like "I don't know what it is, but I just keep coming back to it". I get that way for so many horror movies that people hate but I just can't help it. House of Wax is one that comes to mind. Whenever I say I love that movie, I always get a lot of questions. I know it's not good but it's GOOD TO ME.
After seeing your newest video on your other channel, I have to say, thank you for continuing to post here! ❤️ Your channel is so comforting to me and I love to listening to you!
Nice choices! 5 of my personal faves of low-rated (but still very enjoyable) horror movies: -Cabin Fever 2 (love the comedic body horror elements, teen drama and the cartoon opening/closing) -Rob Zombie's 31 (all of Rob Zombie's movies are great in my opinion, but I actually prefer this one over "The Devil's Rejects", his hot wife as the final girl trapped in a circus "Hunger Games" like situation is killing it for me!) -Trailer Park of Terror (more of a gory horror comedy with a nice backstory on some sympathetic undead campers torturing troubled teens + very catchy soundtrack) -The Eye with Jessica Alba (suspenseful unique storyline with some scary ghost moments that keep me on the edge of my seat) -Tamara (kind of a cheesy 2000's teen flick: Bullied girl takes supernatural revenge on her classmates and father in interestingly cruel ways)
The Marked Ones was such a surprise to me. As someone who is first gen Mexican-American, I did not expect a Paranormal Activity movie to have such good Latinx representation. And honestly, I love that they tried something different from the rest of the movies. Easily one of my favorites in the franchise.
I’m so happy you’re still going to be posting on your horror/ new main channel. I’ve been following you since 2013-2014 and I’ve loved your evolution throughout your channels. You are the only RUclipsr I still watch now as an adult. I was so worried that you were fully stepping away from RUclips but was relieved when you weren’t. I hope great new doors open for you ❤️
The Book of Shadows!! Honestly I love it. I’ve seen it more often than the Blair Witch project.. and well said. It’s not a good sequel but a great stand alone film
I'm glad u included A Haunting on your list. It was one of the first horror films I saw as a kid and always has a special place in my heart. It's also not THAT bad either. It's doesn't get the credit it deserves, there were some genuinely creep/scary moments that still get me to this day.
GIRL YES! I agree 10000% on Blair Witch! I saw it at the theatre too and it really had an effect on me different than any other horror movie I’ve seen. That movie for me is truly scary
YESSSS FINALLY SOMEONE WHO ALSO LOVES SILENT HILL REVELATIONS!! When I saw the title of the video I knew it’d be included. I’ve literally rewatched those movie like 100 times.
I would personally love a streamed Silent Hill playthrough! I also love the movies, as well as Fear Dot Com. I think it is a nostalgia thing but also they're still just entertaining. Many movies I enjoy that are "bad" are basically from my introduction to horror days, so there's a special place for them in my heart. And apparently Halloween Resurrection is 4.0 and I enjoy that franchise so. There's a few foreign horror I'm still kicking myself over for not documenting because that was my absolute jam for a few years. I do remember something about the slit mouth woman that was great.
My controversial opinion: I love allvthe movies in the Alien franchise. Even the newer ones that a lot of people seem to hate. I can't help it, they are all magnificent to me!
Big relate on “I love horror games but am terrible at playing them.” Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Evil Within, Until Dawn, I love them but am both terrible at not freezing during tense or scary moments and can’t afford all the games I like.
YES to Blair Witch 2016. I have never been more terrified while watching a film in theaters. However…it did not hold up at all in my second viewing at home 😂
I loved ABCs of Death. I don't have that many "OMG what a twist" moments with movies, but I thought that the "S is for Speed" short was really clever and had a good twist.
oh and black xmas! also, if you haven’t heard of it you should check out Its me, Billy! it’s a black christmas fan film that just came out! it’s a “direct sequel” to the original!
I absolutely love Shrooms... also Await Further Instructions was pretty good too, however. The ending where the man is being controlled by those tentacles did make me laugh 😂
The haunting (1999) was the first horror movie I saw, I was 14 and it was, as you said the perfect introduction to horror. It scared me, but not to the point where it was too uncomfortable, or gave me nightmares or put me off horror. I haven't watched it since, and I don't plan to. Just incase it's so bad to 35 year old me that it ruins the good memories I have of it.
You brought up great points about ABC's of Death. I remember watching it when it first came out. Some segments were extremely well done like D and V but most were either seriously disturbing (that I've tried to block out) or lazily done. The movie was a great concept but the ratio between the crap and the great/"ok" ones was undeniable. I do remember Part 2 as well 😬
I agree with what you said about the gallows. I know it's not great, but I love it. Teens in a dark, creepy high school? Love it. I also own it on DVD 😂
I honestly don't know what this movie is rated, but I know you're a big '00s horror fan, and I've never heard you mention Darkness with Anna Paquin. If you haven't seen it, the cast is brilliant (Paquin, Iain Glen, Lena Olin) and I remember being blown away in the theater by this one. I also really love Await Further Instructions (Have you seen I Trapped the Devil from the same year?) and I love Rings as much as the first one, especially the beginning, LOVE airplane horror! Cheers!
YES! DON'T BLINK! I loved watching that movie. Good setting for those who like the cabin in the woods setting. Slow burn. But... I had fun watching it.
Sadly, the first thing I watched on shudder was the ABC's of death, and I did leave a bad review for the awful taste of that one short. It made me physically ill, and it really put a bad taste for the content shudder shared in general in my mouth so I never came back to it after my weeks trial...but I've seen you list it as disturbing and also a favourite, so maybe I can try to live in the grey area with it. I watch pretty much any horror/thriller I can find on Netflix/Amazon/NowTV so I've seen a lot of these other films and can see why theyre low rated but it doesn't take away from my personal liking of them either! Love your content, seeing you stream silent Hill would be a blast!
I am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House might just be my favorite horror movie. It's beautiful, the minimal dialogue/monologue that there is is perfect, and it's frightening.
Thank you for including the Prom Night remake on your list I actually like it tbh it’s not better than the original but I liked it still and I liked how they did some stuff differently and the soundtrack and the cast was also pretty solid as well
I personally think that “Nobody Sleeps In The Woods” tonight was one of the worst horror movies I’ve ever seen. It was so boring going through that movie from start to finish
I enjoyed this so much, because I love hearing people talk about films they genuinely like without worrying about how people will perceive it. My good 'bad' movie is probably The Rage: Carrie 2 - it has a 4.7 on IMDB which I find really harsh. Yeah it's nothing like Carrie really, but I have such a love for it and watched it so many times in my teen years :)
This movie is not exactly low rated (6.2 on IMDb), but I think As Above So Below is so underrated! I’ve read somewhere that this movie’s story was a twist to Dante’s Inferno, where the character goes through the nine circles of Hell, much like in AASB. It’s definitely one of my favorite movies ever and I think it deserves more praise!
I love that you're posting on here !! I watched the video u posted the other day on your other channel and while I respect your decision I would miss you a lot haha i don't even watch horror movies but I'm watching for you :))
Firstly, just discovered Sarah’s cool horror YT channel and pretty impressed. Secondly, I’m not big into horror per se, not a buff like most of the people here, as will be obvious, but wondering if Sarah’s ever opined on what I heard are the truly bad horror movies, so bad they’re just awful as per this list:- Birdemic: Shock & Terror (2010); Alone In The Dark (2005); I Know Who Killed Me (2007); Troll 2 (1990); Hobgoblins (1988); Things (1989); Zaat. Also known as: Hydra/Attack Of The Swamp Creatures/Legend Of The Zaat Monster/The Blood Waters Of Dr. Z. (1971); Exorcist 2: The Heretic (1977); Manos: The Hands Of Fate (1966); Monster A Go-Go! (1965); The Horror Of Party Beach (1964); The Creeping Terror (1964); The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed-Up Zombies (1964); Robot Monster (1953); Plan 9 From Outer Space (1959); Maniac (1934). I mean to y’all this must look pretty gd basic but I was just curious. 🤔
The Cabin Fever remake, watched it and it was genuinely horrifying. Revolting, cringey, gory goodness. Was my first introduction to Eli Roth. It holds a special place in my heart
okay i have TRIED to rewatch feardotcom soooo many times, because i know I love it because of the atmosphere and the nostalgia- but my god i fall asleep every time
Hm. I never check ratings so I'm not sure about which movies I enjoy would classify as 'bad'. Probably a lot though. Also I think you made a lot of great choices. Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight, Book of Shadows, Feardotcom, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D are all on my list of underrated movies too. Or at least I enjoyed them. As for doing franchise reviews and starting with Texas Chainsaw Massacre (including the reboots) - yes please. I love vids like that. Also - after that - Hellraiser would be fun. This was another really enjoyable video!

That dirt tunnel in Blair Witch 2016 was horrifying. When I was a kid I had a lot of nightmares of being trapped in a tunnel like that one
I really loved The Ring 2. I don't know why it's got such a low rating.
Same!, i know it's not as good as the original but i still loved it a lot!
Nice choices! 5 of my personal faves of low-rated (but still very enjoyable) horror movies:
-Cabin Fever 2 (love the comedic body horror elements, teen drama and the cartoon opening/closing)
-Rob Zombie's 31 (all of Rob Zombie's movies are great in my opinion, but I actually prefer this one over "The Devil's Rejects", his hot wife as the final girl trapped in a circus "Hunger Games" like situation is killing it for me!)
-Trailer Park of Terror (more of a gory horror comedy with a nice backstory on some sympathetic undead campers torturing troubled teens + very catchy soundtrack)
-The Eye with Jessica Alba (suspenseful unique storyline with some scary ghost moments that keep me on the edge of my seat)
-Tamara (kind of a cheesy 2000's teen flick: Bullied girl takes supernatural revenge on her classmates and father in interestingly cruel ways)

Same!! I love them all!
Gab Smoulders actually has been playing through the Silent Hill games recently!
I loved Blair witch and im also really surprised its so low, that one surprised me the much on this list
As to remakes of classic horror never being great. Have you seen the 2009 version of 'The Last House on the Left (1972)'?
Big relate on “I love horror games but am terrible at playing them.” Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Evil Within, Until Dawn, I love them but am both terrible at not freezing during tense or scary moments and can’t afford all the games I like.
YES to Blair Witch 2016. I have never been more terrified while watching a film in theaters. However…it did not hold up at all in my second viewing at home 😂
I’d love to see some short films from you you should totally do that
I loved ABCs of Death. I don't have that many "OMG what a twist" moments with movies, but I thought that the "S is for Speed" short was really clever and had a good twist.
there’s so many on here that i genuinely love as well! texas chainsaw 3D, prom night, both blair witch movies, and rings!
oh and black xmas! also, if you haven’t heard of it you should check out Its me, Billy! it’s a black christmas fan film that just came out! it’s a “direct sequel” to the original!
I do remember Part 2 as well 😬
I love dont blink found it years ago on netflix and fell in love lol
I loved The Marked Ones too and Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight, Await Further Instructions and Don’t Blink.
when i tell you that the tunnel sequence in Blair Witch made me want to cry soooooo hard. THAT SCENE was just too real.
YES rank the Texas Chainsaw franchise!!!! Please :)
AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS YES!! It’s one of my favourite horror movies, despite the low ranking :)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who enjoys the prom night remake. It's such a guilty pleasure for me but I just love how simple it is!
I am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House might just be my favorite horror movie. It's beautiful, the minimal dialogue/monologue that there is is perfect, and it's frightening.
WHEN THE FIRST ONE WAS MARKED ONES I GASPED BC I AGREE THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVE HORROR MOVIES PERIOD!!!! Thank you for recognizing it’s beauty lol
Have you ever thought of starting horror game plays on twitch??🥺 it would be so cool to see you play some horror games!❤️❤️❤️
actually i am so happy that you put your focus on this channel now
I enjoyed this so much, because I love hearing people talk about films they genuinely like without worrying about how people will perceive it.
You are quickly becoming my horror go to. Thanks for so much fun. I have a few ideas for horror that are new,low budget Im on my way!
Cabin Fever 2, does not get enough love. I love a good body horror.
I love that you're posting on here !! I watched the video u posted the other day on your other channel and while I respect your decision I would miss you a lot haha i don't even watch horror movies but I'm watching for you :))
Firstly, just discovered Sarah’s cool horror YT channel and pretty impressed. Secondly, I’m not big into horror per se, not a buff like most of the people here, as will be obvious, but wondering if Sarah’s ever opined on what I heard are the truly bad horror movies, so bad they’re just awful as per this list:-
Birdemic: Shock & Terror (2010); Alone In The Dark (2005); I Know Who Killed Me (2007); Troll 2 (1990); Hobgoblins (1988); Things (1989); Zaat.
I’d looove to watch a Silent Hill stream. My favorite games! 2 and 3 at least ha.
Devils Due (4.1 on IMDb). I was genuinely terrified. I will never forget some of those scenes.
okay i have TRIED to rewatch feardotcom soooo many times, because i know I love it because of the atmosphere and the nostalgia- but my god i fall asleep every time
Book of Shadows has a goth character and a Poe song (that references House of Leaves) so it’s basically the best 2000s horror movie.
I love The Haunting. Surprised no one has done a remake as the cg was the only thing holding it back originally.
