Well, I've got a couple of theories regarding Juggernaut.First, regarding the destruction of the island, I think you'll find a good hint in another hero's lore:Medusa. Her lore states that her realm was invaded by "masked" assailants who took her immortal sisters for some vile purposes(let's leave it at that) and also ditched Medusa coz she was mortal and so said vile purposes will only kill her immediately or eventually, I mean, why would you even take a product with a limited battery life when you have two with everlasting batteries. Anyways, after that we all know how Medusa im exchange for power went from being the high school prom queen to a drag queen,albeit a strong one.And as for the assailants, it kind of testifies in Jugg's lore too, the island was ruled by a corrupt lord and Jugg was exiled for opposing him. Maybe this was the incident that got Jugg kicked out of the community, he might've witnessed the corrupted lord, who must've ordered his men to take the gorgon sisters and Jugg rebelled against the lord due to being a good guy and got exiled for that.And here's the final hint, the mother of the gorgon sisters was a sea goddess and what mother would'nt want to rescue or avenge her daughters which might explain this line "The isle soon after vanished beneath the waves in a night of vengeful magic" as stated in Jugg's lore.Maybe the sea goddess sent out a massive tidal wave which sunk the isle of masks. Secondly, as for Jugg's arcana, I think he's the one who cleaved it not some other hero. I mean, the precision is pretty spot on and only he would know how much to cleave or how to cleave properly with him being a swordsman and all. As for the mask itself, slacks' theory about the maker putting souls while creating a mask is pretty good. Going by that, we can know that the spirits of his ancestors who lived on the island rest in his mask. But his people might not have been the only ones there, as mentioned in the lore in one of his blades " Named after a legendary dragon, this sword was given to the Juggernaut on the day he became a swordmaster" so maybe there were dragons in the island and instead of dragons that were hunted by the knights, these were revered by the warriors of the isle. And probably some dragon spirits were also encased within the mask which would explain the dragon spirit surrounding him in his arcana form. Lastly, another reason I believe Jugg did cleave his mask is how he looks, more raw, furious and more like a true Juggernaut. Maybe this was a taboo ritual of his people, I mean it lets you get possessed by the souls and possibly go mad, so y would ppl wanna do it. And Jugg might've somehow managed to get the power of the souls and not letting himself be possessed (well, atleast not completely)through sheer willpower alone. Well, Jugg most likely didn't participate in the capture of the gorgon sisters and Medusa knows that, hence she doesn't hate him but also couldn't like him since his race kidnapped her sisters, so chose to give him the silent treatment? lol . But the most possible reason is that Jugg along with all several heroes who came out first when the game was released had only few voice lines and so despite shared histories(eg. Lycan and Beastmaster come from the same place and where tormented by the same king, but have no responses to each other referencing that) there are no lines because Valve didn't put too much effort at that time. Heroes which were released such as LC,MK,Underlord,Oracle,etc. have a whole lot of responses because they were released individually and Valve had more time to work on them.
Yeah I understand. Honestly, dota has such good lore. Valve seriously wastes all the potential it has with that side. + I hear a new comic series is coming.
Also to add, i wish they are more consistent with the descriptions of the items that come with the heroes. Most often, a lot of people had to make speculations as to how the item has a relation with the hero. They could state that information here is canon or not, as that would really help in defining the lore to those who are unfamiliar with the game as well. That's just a thought i'm throwing out here.

Yes i am aware of the lore and how it works. It bothers that it is transparent when it comes to comics, item descriptions and hero summaries, being inconsistent with their content.
Hmm I think the dragon is the god that jug and his ppl worshipped, when the isle was destroyed this dragon god put all the peoples spirits and himself into the mask to help jug and carry on the legacy.
Filthy Weeb they are spirits, and also there already spirits of his ancestors inside his mask(based on the description of the arcana), so its highly likely that they can be connected through their masks
"Sven, thank you for using the Adjudicator's Blade to awaken us..." -Unused Jug Arcana voice line, implying Sven awakened Yurnero/the spirits in his mask. "Strange... we feel... sadness." -Upon killing Lanaya, further implying that they were 'a thing'. "The rebirth of the Isle of Masks begins with us." "The souls within Yurnero have been awoken." -Pretty much directly states that the mask and dragon have the power to rebirth the Isle of Masks and its tradition. All of this stuff pretty much confirms some of what you say, however, they're unused, and those previous lines occur at "Takeover", and sound completely different to the Bladeform legacy currently in the game. So these may be scraps or the past, but I still reckon they're relevant to the lore overall.
I really feel like if ActionSlacks put him self "journeying" across the screen whilst the music is playing right after it says "into the lore" it would really add to the intro. Kind of like introducing "SirActionSlacks" in a sitcom or something.

the Sven cleaving the mask doesnt seem pretty fart-fetched tho. Sven fights with brute force while jug fights with speed and agility..based on the appearance of the arcana and the default jug appearance, it doesnt looked like only the mask was cleaved in two but his head also and by the looks of it.. there are splinters floating above the mask cause by a burst of somekind..maybe we could conclude that during the fight, Jug tried to dodge sven's attack but before the attack could completely cleave his head in two, the "fury and wisdom of his ancestors" burst fort from the mask which sent sven's blade upward and the power prevented jug's death? was it too much of a stretch? EDIT: just to add some stuff i thought up a while ago maybe the very first of the people of juggernauts clan were dragons and as decades or centuries passed by, they either learned how to morph into humanoid form to hide themselves from the ones who were hunting dragons. but they couldnt completely hide their race since they probably had somewhat of a dragon-ish features hence Sven's line of mocking juggernaut's face. they probably created the magical mask to help hide or suppress their dragon-like features particularly facial ones which they couldnt do much about..as time passed by, only the higher ups knows of their dragon heritage while the whole clan only knows that the mask are sacred

In the Jugg arcana's unused responses, The spirits within jugg said that they thank sven for using his blade to awaken them and that they're grateful and in debt to him. But what if jakiro really is the spirit, He tried to posses jugg but was unable to due to the spirits within the mask but thanks to sven cleaving the mask, it weakened the original spirits within allowing the dragon spirits to take over and start the transformation( Transforming because in the unused responses, The spirits within keep referring to themselves "WE" and that "Yurnero was the past".

Yo slacks, for real though, when Monkey King was released, he asked about the 4th spirit in one of his responses to Storm Spirit. So that could validate what you were theorizing about the 4th spirit being inside Jugg.
Well, we have Earth, Fire, and Lightning. Traditional 4 elements are Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. Lightning can (kind of?) be compared to air, which wouldn't really make any sense. Another force of nature could simply be spiritual energy however, which could explain a lot.
well storm spirit talks about wind in his lines "Blow them away!" "I ride the wild winds!" "You blew it!" "Your whirlybird is at the mercy of the wind, and I'm not feeling very merciful today." "Blow the man down!" "You shouldn't have spit into the wind, Viper." "Pity, Puck. You lightened the air." "Breath of fresh air!" there are many more lines for him talking about the wind/air so he clearly is the wind spirit.
It is quoted that they are considered to be "spirit brothers", does the fact that they're all a certain element of nature make the 4th spirit exclusively an element of nature? That's very possible, it is also stated in the wiki that "Celestials are attuned to different elements such as *fire, ice, earth, and lightning*." Based on that, it'd possibly rule out theories that say that he'd be an element of death or the void.
Didnt jugg say in one of his arcana dialogues "Sven, thank you for releasing us" it could probably be sven all this time, but i cant say for sure since my only basis is a dialogue
Here's some theories of mine: 1. One/several of Juggernaut's ancestors fought with a dragon and ended up the same way Dragon Knight did. Fusing with the dragon, this/these ancestors protect Jugg. Jugg looks more like a dragon because the fused ancestor transfered some of its dragon to Jugg. yeah it sounds ridiculous but it works. 2. The Isle of Masks was destroyed by the third Primodial force (a.k.a Agility). The force corrupted the land it's people, and possibly even the masks. As the souls transferred to Jugg's mask, the green aura thing began to corrupt Jugg as well. Theory no. 1 can be applied to no. 2 3. Oracle went bananas and made Manifold PA and normal Juggernaut have a kid, which ended up in jugg arcana

Some could say that the love/hate relations with tidehunter and kunkka can be a good myth on its own. Then there is slark who escape the Dark Reef (their version of the Albatros Prison Island?). But we are not exactly clear when it comes naga siren if she had a relationship with slardar (maybe the guard guarding Dark Reef) or slark (the unsung 13th DR escapee)
jirehtheprovider Naga used to be a Slithereen guard just like slardar but was banished due to failing to defend against the Leviathans(Tidehunter species) that attacked a deep vault.I can't seem to find anything on slark relating on slardar besides them both being slithereen alongside with naga which slark is a big fan of her songs that he is willing to kill anyone who disagrees and naga actually gave slark a gift for being a fan(Encore). idk why slark was sent to dark reef on the first place but theres a possiblity he couldhave been part of the slithereen guard but betrayed them thats why he got sent to dark reef because he is a member of the deep ones.
1st theory : Jugg scream after he killed any hero using his ult. My theory why Jugg scream is he absorb the soul of the people he killed because his masked is cleaved open. 2nd theory on why a dragon came out when he crit is Jugg ancestor give him a boost of power everytime he crit that's why the dragon spirit came out...
I think Axe cleaved the mask, so hear me out on this: Axe's Culling Blade is not the strongest attack there is, since only wounded enemyies would die from it. Also he always hits from the top. It is a powerful but not very piercing attack, much like an axe cleave in the real world. I would guess that Juggernauts Mask is stronger than regular wood, so it would make sense that Axe hit him from above but his Axe was not Sharp or Thin enough to split the Mask in half. You can tell from the broken or rather split Mask from Juggernaut that the weapon splitting it was rather heavy and maybe even a bit blunt, since the Wood ripped apart rather than having a clean cut. Sven is a swordsman and you would guess that swordsmen really care about their weapons by regularily sharpening them. Axe however has a not very sharp weapon, but Axe himself is strong. If you ever split wood with an axe then you will know that there are some though pieces you can't quite get trough in one stroke, especially if the Axe is blunt. Axe is very heavy so he would still hit hard but not cut deep, that's why Juggernauts Mask is cut in the first third and split apart in the second third.
Yeah, sorry, but after the release of "Call of the Bladeform Legacy" voice pack, it's confirmed that Sven cleaved Yurnero's mask. "Sven has played his part well." "We have been freed by The Adjudicator's blade." "Sven, thank you for using the Adjudicator's Blade to awaken us..." "We are in your debt Sven, we won't forget this." There was also the leak of these lines around back in May, but I always thought that it was Sven after fitting some pieces together. Sven, while he does usually swing the sword in a horizontal manner, DOES have an attack animation in which he stabs his greatsword forward. This looks like the perfect attack that would cause the mask to be cleaved. "Cleaved" was an interesting choice of word, too. Considering Sven "cleaves" with one of his abilities. This also debunks SirActionSlack's theory on Jakiro cleaving his mask. Honestly, I never really thought this theory held any water. They are just theories after all, but Jakiro's claws piercing the mask and infesting the mask just didn't make a whole lot of sense. Sven cleaving the mask means Jakiro had nothing to do with it. From the video I gather that you didn't have the call of the bladeform legacy yet, the voicelines, to patch the gaps or draw more conclusions. It had so many comments like "we are the juggernaut", "The rebirth of the Isle of Masks begins with us", " Once Yurnero was the last of his kind, but no longer", "Yurnero is gone. Only The Juggernaut remains", his responses to Sven about Sven's kindness to him using his blade to awaken him (quite unambiguous answer to who actually did the cleaving work), mentioning training with Ember Spirit (I'm not aware of the timeline if the short film was inspired by the arcana lore or vice versa), admitting being a dragon to DK while also mentioning being half-possessed. I'll be really looking forward to when you'll (hopefully) be expanding on the lore after new additions!

I started playing Dota 2, maybe 3 years ago.. i started playing couple games with CK, and Tiny and i love those heroes, but after a while i finded one hero Sven, and i absolutely loved him, i played with him a lot also got a lot rampages with him, so much love him i read every lore about him, and after that i started playing with Juggernaut also, so now Juggernaut is my main hero, but with Sven i have most games... So this lore how Sven cut his mask in half is really cool, i hope they continue with this lore, maybe give Sven arcana, similar like this or in this way like bladeform legacy, it would fit him more when he uses ulti and becomes red :D

All of this stuff pretty much confirms some of what you say, however, they're unused, and those previous lines occur at "Takeover", and sound completely different to the Bladeform legacy currently in the game. So these may be scraps or the past, but I still reckon they're relevant to the lore overall.

I really feel like if ActionSlacks put him self "journeying" across the screen whilst the music is playing right after it says "into the lore" it would really add to the intro. Kind of like introducing "SirActionSlacks" in a sitcom or something.

the Sven cleaving the mask doesnt seem pretty fart-fetched tho. Sven fights with brute force while jug fights with speed and agility..based on the appearance of the arcana and the default jug appearance, it doesnt looked like only the mask was cleaved in two but his head also and by the looks of it.. there are splinters floating above the mask cause by a burst of somekind..maybe we could conclude that during the fight, Jug tried to dodge sven's attack but before the attack could completely cleave his head in two, the "fury and wisdom of his ancestors" burst fort from the mask which sent sven's blade upward and the power prevented jug's death?
was it too much of a stretch?

maybe the very first of the people of juggernauts clan were dragons and as decades or centuries passed by, they either learned how to morph into humanoid form to hide themselves from the ones who were hunting dragons. but they couldnt completely hide their race since they probably had somewhat of a dragon-ish features hence Sven's line of mocking juggernaut's face. they probably created the magical mask to help hide or suppress their dragon-like features particularly facial ones which they couldnt do much about..as time passed by, only the higher ups knows of their dragon heritage while the whole clan only knows that the mask are sacred

In the Jugg arcana's unused responses, The spirits within jugg said that they thank sven for using his blade to awaken them and that they're grateful and in debt to him. But what if jakiro really is the spirit, He tried to posses jugg but was unable to due to the spirits within the mask but thanks to sven cleaving the mask, it weakened the original spirits within allowing the dragon spirits to take over and start the transformation( Transforming because in the unused responses, The spirits within keep referring to themselves "WE" and that "Yurnero was the past".

Yo slacks, for real though, when Monkey King was released, he asked about the 4th spirit in one of his responses to Storm Spirit. So that could validate what you were theorizing about the 4th spirit being inside Jugg.
What element though? THEORYCRAFT TIME
Well, we have Earth, Fire, and Lightning.
Traditional 4 elements are Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. Lightning can (kind of?) be compared to air, which wouldn't really make any sense. Another force of nature could simply be spiritual energy however, which could explain a lot.
well storm spirit talks about wind in his lines

It is quoted that they are considered to be "spirit brothers", does the fact that they're all a certain element of nature make the 4th spirit exclusively an element of nature? That's very possible, it is also stated in the wiki that
"Celestials are attuned to different elements such as *fire, ice, earth, and lightning*."
Based on that, it'd possibly rule out theories that say that he'd be an element of death or the void.

Didnt jugg say in one of his arcana dialogues "Sven, thank you for releasing us" it could probably be sven all this time, but i cant say for sure since my only basis is a dialogue
Here's some theories of mine:
1. One/several of Juggernaut's ancestors fought with a dragon and ended up the same way Dragon Knight did. Fusing with the dragon, this/these ancestors protect Jugg. Jugg looks more like a dragon because the fused ancestor transfered some of its dragon to Jugg.
yeah it sounds ridiculous but it works.
2. The Isle of Masks was destroyed by the third Primodial force (a.k.a Agility). The force corrupted the land it's people, and possibly even the masks. As the souls transferred to Jugg's mask, the green aura thing began to corrupt Jugg as well.
Theory no. 1 can be applied to no. 2
3. Oracle went bananas and made Manifold PA and normal Juggernaut have a kid, which ended up in jugg arcana

Some could say that the love/hate relations with tidehunter and kunkka can be a good myth on its own. Then there is slark who escape the Dark Reef (their version of the Albatros Prison Island?). But we are not exactly clear when it comes naga siren if she had a relationship with slardar (maybe the guard guarding Dark Reef) or slark (the unsung 13th DR escapee)

Naga used to be a Slithereen guard just like slardar but was banished due to failing to defend against the Leviathans(Tidehunter species) that attacked a deep vault.I can't seem to find anything on slark relating on slardar besides them both being slithereen alongside with naga which slark is a big fan of her songs that he is willing to kill anyone who disagrees and naga actually gave slark a gift for being a fan(Encore).
idk why slark was sent to dark reef on the first place but theres a possiblity he couldhave been part of the slithereen guard but betrayed them thats why he got sent to dark reef because he is a member of the deep ones.

I think Axe cleaved the mask, so hear me out on this: Axe's Culling Blade is not the strongest attack there is, since only wounded enemyies would die from it. Also he always hits from the top. It is a powerful but not very piercing attack, much like an axe cleave in the real world. I would guess that Juggernauts Mask is stronger than regular wood, so it would make sense that Axe hit him from above but his Axe was not Sharp or Thin enough to split the Mask in half. You can tell from the broken or rather split Mask from Juggernaut that the weapon splitting it was rather heavy and maybe even a bit blunt, since the Wood ripped apart rather than having a clean cut. Sven is a swordsman and you would guess that swordsmen really care about their weapons by regularily sharpening them. Axe however has a not very sharp weapon, but Axe himself is strong. If you ever split wood with an axe then you will know that there are some though pieces you can't quite get trough in one stroke, especially if the Axe is blunt. Axe is very heavy so he would still hit hard but not cut deep, that's why Juggernauts Mask is cut in the first third and split apart in the second third.

Yeah, sorry, but after the release of "Call of the Bladeform Legacy" voice pack, it's confirmed that Sven cleaved Yurnero's mask.
"Sven has played his part well."
"We have been freed by The Adjudicator's blade."
"Sven, thank you for using the Adjudicator's Blade to awaken us..."
"We are in your debt Sven, we won't forget this."
There was also the leak of these lines around back in May, but I always thought that it was Sven after fitting some pieces together.
Sven, while he does usually swing the sword in a horizontal manner, DOES have an attack animation in which he stabs his greatsword forward. This looks like the perfect attack that would cause the mask to be cleaved. "Cleaved" was an interesting choice of word, too. Considering Sven "cleaves" with one of his abilities.
This also debunks SirActionSlack's theory on Jakiro cleaving his mask. Honestly, I never really thought this theory held any water. They are just theories after all, but Jakiro's claws piercing the mask and infesting the mask just didn't make a whole lot of sense. Sven cleaving the mask means Jakiro had nothing to do with it. But hey, say somehow Jakiro or another dragon did infest Juggernaut. This would be interesting, but something like this is debunked as well.
The Call of the Bladeform Legacy's description reads: "The Juggernaut now speaks with the power of an ancient lineage of revered warriors. Connected once again to the land of the living, these progenitors of the Isle of Masks shall not fall silent again." He speaks with the power of an ancient lineage of revered warriors. They are the progenitors of the Isle of Masks, which confirms that they are of his people.
This is actually very interesting, because this means that the people of the Isle are connected to dragons in someway, because they take on a dragon form, and refer to themselves as such.
When attacking, one of the lines for this voicepack is "The dragon's gaze finds you." Though as far as I know, there is no other reference to the dragon at his side in this voicepack, other than interactions with other characters.
If you meet Dragon Knight as an ally, for instance, The Juggernaut says "It's nice to know we're not the only half-possessed warrior on the battlefield..." This gives interesting implications, because it's unknown if he's implying that there's a dragon spirit half-possessing him as well, or if he's talking about the possession as a whole.
I'm not going to go on with the voice lines in this pack, because I could go on for HOURS writing about this. I'm gonna end off on this note. "The Isle of Masks has a tradition of ritual and disciplined swordsmanship. Those who embody this tradition are called Juggernauts. The last Juggernaut is Yurnero."
Yurnero isn't "the Juggernaut" as in his name, but he is the last of his people, who were called the "Juggernauts". This isn't just some cool nickname that has been given to him, "Yurnero the Juggernaut" is a literal meaning. Being the last of his kind has made him the Juggernaut, but these ancestral spirits being fused with Yurnero gives the name "The Juggernaut" a whole new meaning, as well as a whole new being.
"Yurnero’s mask has been cleaved in two, awakening the ancient souls that once laid dormant inside it. These spirits have become one with Yurnero, giving him both the wisdom and fury of his ancestors. This symbiotic relationship has transformed the Juggernaut into something new and terrifying... a celestial force of nature."
THE Juggernaut. Not Yurnero the Juggernaut, not Juggernaut as we know him in game... but as The Juggernaut.

I love loregasm so much cause i play dota since 12 yrs ago n since always interested in the story/lore side as well, so i rlly wanna donate to slacks but unfortunately yes us dollars worth is very high in my country, at least for me cause i cant even eat properly everyday (once a day mostly, twice at a very good day when some1 generous enuf gives me food to eat). Soo until I can finish my study at my uni n find a proper work with decent pay, i have to deal with it. In dota2pedia it was confirmed that sven cleaved the mask of juggernaut, releasing the dragon spirit resulting in a friendship between the two swordsmen
*so probably when Lanaya and Yurerno broke up she wanted to slap him and split his mask into two*
Sven cleaved juggernauts mask with a special sword. It was confirmed in his Arcana announcer pack.
Slacks mate, dont forget the 4th spirit that was intented with one of the last dota BDs when the all the spirits got togheter (storm, ember, earth an the other one). The spirit traped in jugg can very well be the missing one...
I hope someone from Valve watches these and will help expand the lore to help these become more canon

From the video I gather that you didn't have the call of the bladeform legacy yet, the voicelines, to patch the gaps or draw more conclusions. It had so many comments like "we are the juggernaut", "The rebirth of the Isle of Masks begins with us", " Once Yurnero was the last of his kind, but no longer", "Yurnero is gone. Only The Juggernaut remains", his responses to Sven about Sven's kindness to him using his blade to awaken him (quite unambiguous answer to who actually did the cleaving work), mentioning training with Ember Spirit (I'm not aware of the timeline if the short film was inspired by the arcana lore or vice versa), admitting being a dragon to DK while also mentioning being half-possessed. I'll be really looking forward to when you'll (hopefully) be expanding on the lore after new additions!

I started playing Dota 2, maybe 3 years ago.. i started playing couple games with CK, and Tiny and i love those heroes, but after a while i finded one hero Sven, and i absolutely loved him, i played with him a lot also got a lot rampages with him, so much love him i read every lore about him, and after that i started playing with Juggernaut also, so now Juggernaut is my main hero, but with Sven i have most games... So this lore how Sven cut his mask in half is really cool, i hope they continue with this lore, maybe give Sven arcana, similar like this or in this way like bladeform legacy, it would fit him more when he uses ulti and becomes red :D
