Who here is attending cosmetology school right now or thinking of going? What was your favorite part of beauty school ? Everyone share your advice or tips for school, work, etc.
I really wanna go for hair color apps but I'm worried about having to stand for long periods of time. I have had 9 surgeries including 2 back surgeries....so I think I'm gonna go for nails or heck maybe even esthetics. Do you know of a good school for Esthetics?
First off I have to say I am addicted to your videos Silvia! I am a cosmetology student at Aveda Institute Minneapolis, and your video is so so so true. You can't avoid cattyness/drama, keep your head up & I guess I always try to remember that the people who act the worst, those are the people you are going to be competing against for jobs in the salon, I believe employers will see/predict unprofessionalism. I loved what you had to say about just diving in and taking risks... there are totally a bunch of boring parts of cosmo school (doing your 900th pin curl set haha) but when you have the opportunity to do a crazy corrective color that's going to take you 9 hours, do it. I see so many girls passing up tickets (clients) because they'll miss lunch or whatever. Lastly I would also say...my favorite part of beauty school other than hair color (I want to specialize and be a color tech at Juut in Palo Alto!) is the energy of the school. You have the people who really just shouldn't be there but overall everyone is excited and inspired, which is inspiring in and of itself. Again love your vids! You were the inspiration for my website! Would mean the world for you to check me out AT www.blondeluxe.com insta @blondeluxehair
I think I'm starting school Dec. 2! Yikes! I will be working and going to school f/t, I'm so nervous and excited, and already exhausted, lol! Love your videos, thank-you for posting! You're so inspiring!
Abigail Shofner When you were looking at schools what was the main reason that you chose Aveda? I would love to go to cosmetology school if U ever get better lol... I have had a lot of medical issues. Also if you don't mind me asking how much was/is it for tutition compared to other schools that you might've looked at? I had a dear friend go through the Aveda cos program and she said that it was worth it but she is no longer doing hair and is now studying business. I am not quite sure why though. Thanks for you help and I'll be checking out your blog too!
I'm starting cosmetology school on Tuesday. I'm 25 years old and I have a 2 year old daughter. I love your channel. its definitely inspiring and this video was just what I needed to feel more comfortable and excited about this new venture in my life!
I'm actually a man in cosmetology school. I love it! It's really great, and I absolutely love theory, but I was a nerd all through high school, so that was expected out of me. Anxiety is a big issue for me, so if you have social anxiety or just anxiety in general, but hair is your passion, I would suggest carrying around mints all day to calm you, and taking breaks when you need them to calm down. There is a lot of drama between the girls in my school, but the best thing to do is stay out of it.
Oli Butler I am amazed by how many hairdressers suffer from social anxiety issues. Thanks for sharing. 30+ yrs in the business and it's still an issue. I'll try your suggestion.
Spot on! I graduated cosmetology school last year. My biggest thing was not letting the drama get to you. My school was small (less than 20 students) and the drama and cattiness was horrible. I love what I do now though. Great video!
ellebangs Same here a lot of drama. I got bullied when I first got on the floor and my teachers were kind of mean to me. I worked hard and let the quality speak for me. People got nicer and some of the mean people left.
I'm so happy you did this video! I've been seriously thinking about cosmetology more and more, and I really think it's the right path for me. Just have to figure out expenses and which school!
I start cosmetology school on Monday... I'm excited but nervous as well. I'm not one to get into drama at all!! I pray everything will be fine..Thanks for this video.!
There was so much Drama in mine. I like to iron some of my curly blow waves as ironing, blow waving and a combination of both all have different results. Someone who had less industry experience then I did (I have been in the industry since 09 whether it be as a stylist or salon assistant) and some one who was new to the industry walked up to me and said "You know, you shouldn't need to iron it." We also had two girls almost punch on in my first school (that school was a joke. No teacher for 4 months and most the girls were ratchet as). My second school had a lady come in. This women had thigh length hair that was also quite dense. She smelled quite horrendous and obviously had some mental issues. My school knew how nice I was so they put me on her. Her hair was really difficult. She sweated so much that I pretended I must have soaked her with the basin. I believe that she appreciated that. The poor women obviously had social issues and the fat that we spoke about KFC the entire time made her day. I was a vegan at the time. I think she gave me the best lesson. Even though she was a difficult client I made her day and that is what matters. She took 3 hours as her hair was long and I was physically having issues with the body odder (though I had a really good poker face). She left feeling beautiful. I suggest that students never pass up that opportunity because it's a great lesson. That same day I was really ill afterwards. I'm not saying it was that womens fault because I do have digestive issues. But my teacher noticed my work was flat and that I was flat. She she got me to be a hair model for some of the newer students. My class was ahead so a few of us were chosen. The guy who I was given to was a winger. He was the annoying kind of flamboyant gay. The type that exaggerate everything. He wanted my classmate but the teacher wanted to challenge him as my hair was thick with colour damage. So he took me over to the sink. I gave him some suggestions on shampooing. He ignored me, called over his friend and started bitching about his class mate. I of course was annoyed as I was his client. Anyway, he got me over to the chair and started combing me out. His friend came over and they were talking again. Then the guy they were bitching about walked over, apologised and asked if they were cool. The guy who was supposed to be doing my hair said "Yeah, we're cool. But talk to me again and I'll ram a blow dryer down your throat." No joke. He then stormed off leaving me dripping wet. His friend ended up blow drying my hair and apologising. So after that my class mates and I had to report him. We decided we would do it after school. So we went into the laundry to do towels and there he was bitching about the teachers. He said he was going to punch one of them in the face and was basically being a disturbance. So we ended up telling the teachers about the incident. The teacher was like "omg don't tell me" as this was usual behaviour. The next day he was asked to leave as he told the guidance councillor that he was, "going to get my dad to smash your face in". If drama pops up sometimes its best to let the authorities know especially if its going to disrupt your learning.
I have wanted to go to Cosmetology school since I was in Kindergarten. Hair has been a passion of mine since I was very little. I got a Mannequin head for Christmas one year. And I finally get to go to Cosmetology school this year at the age if 25. Better late than never. I just hope I can be the best that I can. I really love your videos and especially this one. You are an Role Model of mine. :)
im 17 (turning 18 next may) and im currently in cosmetology school. im so lucky that my high school has the program I have almost 600 hours( only need 1000 here in mass.) I love every single second of it. I have always wanted to be a hair dresser and I cant wait to get my license and work in a hair salon.. btw I love your videos and your hair.. your gorgg!!♥
This is perfect! Thank you so much for sharing this. I plan to go to Paul Mitchell in Atlanta next year and I will definitely be taking these tips with me! :)
I'm currently attending school for hair and nails. My only complaint so far is that I can see that it doesn't take much to be a teacher, seeing how a few of my instructors are giving out incorrect information which is scary as some of the girls in my classes aren't aware that it's incorrect. But as the student, I feel like I'm crossing a line if I were to correct my instructor, so for now I'm just doing my own thing until I can get back out onto the floor. It's been interesting.
I want to go next year to Cosmetology school for hair thank you for your tips, you are my inspiration and I am just crazy with your videos, you are AMAZING!! And soooooo BEAUTIFUL. :-)
Today was day one of cos school for me and I didn't expect anywhere near this much book work. I was so glad you mentioned that because I was thinking maybe it's just me??? hahah
I start at Aveda Institute in Chapel Hill NC in August. I'm super excited . This video really helped give me a feel of how things should be. Thanks so much.
I graduated Cosmetology in 2003 and worked at a haircuttery, where i focused on color. I was 8 months pregnant when i took maternity leave and never went back, for a few reasons.....I MISS IT SO MUCH!! lol..im thinking about going back and getting my license back! For any of you women wanting to go, it is SOO worth it. You actually LOVE your work, and have fun doing it! Thanks Ms Sylvia for another Amazing video! Stay sweet and ill see u Monday! hehe....... Oh Yeah, my favorite part of cosmetology was meeting a lot of different women, and men, whom i still keep in touch with today. ANother awesome thing about it was learning all the different colors and the color wheel..You never think about all the different tones and colors in just your hair..:)
Thank you so much this has helped me a lot because I am starting hair school in a couple of weeks and I can tell it's gonna be a challenge but like you said, you have to have a passion for it
same here! I just moved from Alaska to Texas and it wasn't until I got here that I realized my passion for cosmetology. In Alaska so many salons were going out of business. Here in Texas they are booming!
I love this and agree with everything you said specially the part where we get to experiment because it is a school and my instructors always tell us this is the time to do all that lol. I love going to Cosmetology school I mind my own and so far so good
Thank you for this video I really appreciated it, Im going into makeup myself and I was thinking about hair but im not 100% sure just yet.... But knowing what to look out for is nice.
thank U for doing this video im gonna start school soon and I wanted to know from a personal experience to school Me on a lil tips of survival! and this happen to be it thanks for keeping it straight and real just like how it is
I'm starting empire beauty school in a couple of weeks . I'm very nervous , but excited at the same time . not sure if I'm ready for the academic part of it though !
I have always been obsessed with hair and makeup so I'm thinking of going into cosmetology school (a little late since I'm 27) But better late than never. I live in the Bay Area as well and there are so many schools in this area it's a bit overwhelming. In the description you mentioned Redken Academy. Did you attend the one is San Jose? I wish I could pick your brain since you have so much knowledge about the field in the area I live in lol.
Silvia! I feel lost! I'm a licenced Cosmetologist, [worked for 2 years as a colorist & extensionist, completed an Arrojo apprenticeship for 1 year, & worked in a full service nail salon for 6months. Went back to school, & now graduating as a Manicurist in 3days!!! I have a lot of salon experience and hair experience in general. I generally enjoy doing anything beauty related. I'm proud of my portfolio--but question! I'm debating working for more experience... or heading back to school as a cosmetology instructor (I really enjoy school!) What's your opinion of stylists (with under 5years of experience) becoming instructors? In my area (Seattle, WA), there seems to be a lot of flack! I personally am weary of anyone who becomes an instructor right out of school because they are training furture professionals with no salon or real life experience.
Im going to cosmetology school next year after high school. I been wanting to go since i was 14/15 ish old. I have a strong passion for styling hair. I also do some what makeup. Im not good but im going to keep on praticing Alot of people don't agree because they say its not a career. but its my career choice. Im class of 2016. Im about to take the A.C.T on Tuesday.
I'm the class of 2016 as well! I'm planning on going near the end of my senior year or after I graduate. I get the "oh wow you can do so much better than that" or "you should go to college though, you probably won't like this in a few years" & ITS SO ANNOYING. I've been dying my hair crazy colors since i was 11, all starting as a scene try hard lol. Make up and hair really is my passion! Nice to see someone in the same boat as me!
deidaraakun exactly! Thats what people say to me. My teachers had a talk with me and my mom about it. They all agreed i should go. They all suggested i should study for to be a entrepreneur to own a salon. The people who don't agree are my brothers, landlord and other adults. Its our career and not theres. Im glad someone the same age as me replied with the same interest.
oh my god ikr! they're wanting me to get a business degree and stuff to own one myself. But its honestly not even about the money! i wish they'd just realize its my passion omg! if i eventually rise to thatt status, then hell yea. But i just want to start small haha
I want to go so bad. I've been saying it for awhile but it's tough to pull off full time school and work. The only part time school is a vocational school and it's not that great so I'm stuck. I wish I had gone right after high school! Great tips btw and the drama is prob what held me back in high school haha Thanks for the advice!
I'm going to school right mow and I'm about half way through. A lot of this is true, and I did have ver different expectations. For the most part I enjoy it because I am doing what I love, but other times I just can't wait to get out. There's a lot of drama with students and teachers and I just try to stay out of it all. I go to do what I have to do and that's it.
I don't think that this applies to cosmetology only I think it applies to other schools as well. Like for me, I majored in Nursing (totally different field, right?) but I can totally relate to everything that you said. Well spoken girl and I wish I was prepared too when I first got started but oh well... Glad it's over now! :)
I'm going to Paul Mitchell in February I'll be graduating high school early in December Bc I have enough credits . I'm already starting to study and I plan on buying textbooks so I can be familiar before I go . I had doll heads to practice on too . And I practice on my friends I did two girls hair and makeup for prom
I love your hair and I'm pretty sure I have the same cut as you but I can never seem to style it when it's just down and parted correctly. Do you use a curling iron? Maybe you could do a styling video :)
lol I survived cosmetology school I had to make up over 200 + hours it was super hard but I did it and now I have my license and I work in a salon I wanna be a colorist and yes theory I remember I did pretty well thanks god lol
Can you do a video on hair cuts and face shapes? I have no idea what would look good on me right now. I can't seem to picture how it would look going shorter for example. I wish I could cut it off then put it back if I don't like it! lol. I have oval or oblong face shape and love less layers, but hairstylist all seem to think I look good with them. :)
I’ve been in cosmetology school for a year and I had a client ask me yesterday if they were my first client. How do I carry myself with confidence and relax myself in what I’m doing?
I want to learn how to do hair for my own knowledge, but I'm not too interested in having a career in cosmetology anymore. But I would love to have all the knowledge of hair makeup and nails. Just to maybe do some on the side. I've researched cosmetology schools for about 3 yrs now. What should I do? To go or not to go to cosmetology school?
GonePostal129 yea I decided I'm not gonna go to cosmetology school I'll just teach myself for my own knowledge (: rather not spend all that money on school u kno haha
stateboard was very nerve racking but I passed so don't sole your self out and don't let the ppl around you make you nervous at the test becuz they definitely will lol
Thanks for making this video! I saw your other one as well they both helped alot! I am trying to figure out if this field is right for me. P.S. what nail polish are you wearing, so pretty!?
Hi Silvia! I was just like you. I read my entire book and highlighted it cover to cover before I started my program. It took a lot of stress off of me. Tests went really smooth. I focused on my work and did a lot of research outside of school. I'm licensed in Socal. When I finished, I set up my website and social media and arranged a photo shoot for my portfolio. I ended up moving and away and doing house calls for a year and a half. I continued to go to shows and travel for education. I got education in London, Chicago and NYC. I'm headed back to LA in the fall and I really want to get into a lux salon. I'm hoping my advanced education will help. What tips do you have for me to get into a high-end and what should be our expectation for work after finishing of cosmetology school?
I am in the process of looking for the right cosmetology school! I often am told to go to community college since its cheaper and that you learn the same stuff, but another part of me thinks a higher end would be better. Any advice would be great!
Gabriella Chavez you def learn more and get more out of a private cosmetology school. You get what you pay for. You def dont get hands on color creating experience in community college cosmo school. But if price is an issue and you just want to have your license community is the way to go :)
what is your opinion on going to smaller schools? I currently go to cosmetology school at the local community college because it's so much cheaper than Aveda. but I'm worried I'm not getting the kind of experience I need and I won't have the big name school to make me competitive in the industry. I've been told that it matters more where I assist when I get out of School, but I'm worried I might not get that opportunity without the PM or Aveda experience. What are your thoughts? I am scared to take out that huge of a loan, but I am willing to do it for the sake of my career.
hi i am 13 and i love to style hair soon i am going to buy a manikin head i am a boy is there boys there? i got bullied soo many times when i try to tell someone.
Joey Posner The thing that I love about Cosmetology, and the beauty world all together, its a judgement free zone. At least for the most part. You will sill have your idiots, but it won't be anything like you think it is. They're plenty of boys in the industry. We had a few boys at my school and at my new school we just have one from what I saw but he's never judge or anything like that. Some of the top cosmetologist and Makeup artist are men.
NP and some of the top beauty schools are also started and founded by men. Men have a huge impact on the beauty industry believe it or not. Don't care about what you get bullied about today. Because while you're guaranteed a job after your schooling whether its freelance or at a salon etc, they're still going to be stuck in their parents house or struggling in college! Do what makes you happy!
Hey man, I'm a dude too! And I love cutting hair. I'm actually about to attend a cosmetology school too. But yeah, if you love something, don't let other people get to you by making fun of you. Just shake it off and do what you want. Don't let people drag you down man! You'll be good.
I want to go to cosmetology school but I don't k om if I should go a school like a Paul Mitchell School or a techincal college that offers cosmetology. I don't know which one is better. Any tips? ❤
It's so hard for me to find a cosmetology program, and how to choose which school. I'm in grade 10 right now so I know I have time to figure it out, but I want to have a plan. I live in an extremely rural area.
Taylor Reid As a former Aveda student (which I had a bad experience in) and a future professional at Paul Mitchell, I really suggest going to a big name school. All cosmetology schools pretty much cost the same. I really suggest that whatever school you go to, make sure its a top notch school, with a top notch reputation. Don't look so much into the small local schools with only one location. I say that because it doesn't look as good on a resume unless the school is like limited edition and have that good of a reputation which most small schools like that don't. Its not to say that small schools don't have that good of a reputation or can't but big name schools like Aveda or Paul Mitchell (the Harvard and Yale of the beauty industry lol) can really get you far a lot faster and can give you many promising advantages and opportunities. I can go on forever. Even though I had a bad experience at Aveda, not all locations are the same. So for the most part, I really recommend Aveda and PM as they are the top beauty schools and I ensure you will get the best education there.
I'm thinking about going to cosmetology school soon ....I live in jersey right next door to NYC but want to go to school in north jersey .so have you heard anything good or bad things about Robert fiance, the professional salon academy and Empire beauty ????? I need advice asap
the hardest thing for me to deal with was my instructors. they were so lazy. and didnt want to help when we asked for it. which I didn't understand.. like they were there to help us? lol
Hey!! I want to go to cosmetology school but I'm not sure where I should go. I've heard great things about Tricoci University & Aveda. Which would you recommend? Thanks(:
Emilie Agee Find a salon with stylists you really like and ask where they went. That's what I did. The owner of this amazing salon in my town met with me and recommended some schools and offered me a position as his assistant when I start school!
Im thinking of going to cosomotology school but Im so nervous and Im sure Ill get people calling me a queer and what not even though Im straight. I start about a month from now so Im trying to do some research before I start. I have had a slight interest in hair but I have always been a creative type of personality. I play piano and I enjoy doing special effects mask painting. So I think I would love this field. Please some one comment.
im OBSESSED with makeup so if i go to cosmetology i jave to learn hair and nails? i hate hair !! i only wanna do makeup ugh im scared i bet all the students r all pretty and stuck up :(
How long was cosmetology school for you and tell me if the expenses were really bad, cause my friends always say it was really expensive. Also, I kinda wanna do cosmetology in high school but I think I should've started this year(my junior year). I didn't really wanna do it cause like I didn't feel like my grades were good enough and I still need to get some credits.
I think after everything, tuition, books and our kit, its was 25k+ Most private cosmetology schools, such as Aveda, Paul mitchell, and redken affiliated schools are all about that price. However if its something you're really passionate about I def recommend it.
ellebangs Do you think from your experience that taking out a loan for the 25k will be paid back within the first 1-2 years after you start working or is it longer? How would you compare the cost vs schooling you got to the cheaper alternatives? Do you notice a major difference and can "tell" that someone went to a cheaper alternative school?
I wish the instructors at my school were more hands on. The school as a whole is very unprofessional. I want learning anything!! The instructors were just as bad as the students as far as drama. I ended up dropping because I wasn't learning and wasn't paying that much money for nothing. I wish everyday I could find a school closer. :-(
oh no where did you go? Not to throw your school under a bus, but its good for viewers to know, in case they are planning on going there! Lets all help each other out! :)
Cosmetology is mostly hair, nails, and face. Makeup is more esthetics. There are some schools that offer both courses. I would recommend doing more research, though.
In Cosmetology school, you'll learn mainly hair. You'll also learn nails, makeup, facials, and waxing. Actually, you learn just as much makeup in cosmetology as esthetics as far as I've heard. You don't learn more than the basics though in either program. If you want in depth makeup classes it's probably best if you take a makeup artistry class. Esthetics is mainly skincare and hair removal, not much makeup and you won't learn hair AT ALL. Keep that in mind. If I were you I'd definitely do Cosmetology! I've done a ton of research about esthetics and cosmetology and it is what I am doing as well.

Anyone, I have a career in graphic design but I'm getting bored. I love doing hair and facials. My family members ask me all the time. Everyone I know always comes to me for advice on there hair and make up. The big bump in the road is I'm a young looking 42 year old. Do you think it's wise to take that leap and get my license?
+Julie Hammel Honestly, if youre bored with what youre doing now, you should try it. While it is a commitment at least its not something like a four year degree or anything. If you already enjoy cosmetology related things then I feel like you'd really enjoy it. Age doesn't determine anything it's never too late to change the path you're walking on
Yes, I think it's wise to do so. If it's what you think you'd like to do then I would definitely recommend you do it. You shouldn't stay at a job that makes you unhappy or that you don't enjoy. If money is a problem, you can go to a community college or tech college and it will be much cheaper than somewhere like Aveda or Paul Mitchell. I was going to go to Paul Mitchell but i didn't want to spend $20,000 to learn what you'll learn in a community college. After I graduate my community college cosmetology program I'm going to a Paul Mitchell for advanced education on cutting and coloring hair. It will come out way cheaper and I won't be paying back for school for years. My program is going to cost $4000 which is $16,000 dollars cheaper than a big name school. It won't take you years to get your license either so I suggest you go for it! good luck!

Did you ever get scared about dealing with clients while first starting out in school? That's definitely going to be my biggest obstacle to overcome!

I'm so happy you did this video! I've been seriously thinking about cosmetology more and more, and I really think it's the right path for me. Just have to figure out expenses and which school!
Yay! Do lots of research! and just sign up! :)
Someone who had less industry experience then I did (I have been in the industry since 09 whether it be as a stylist or salon assistant) and some one who was new to the industry walked up to me and said "You know, you shouldn't need to iron it."
We also had two girls almost punch on in my first school (that school was a joke.
I'm going to Aveda in fl and so far I love it! I'm a week away from going into my next phase out of introduction I have practicals tomorrow!
I walk by the Aveda school here in San Francisco every day and I hear good things :) keep it up.
This is perfect! Thank you so much for sharing this. I plan to go to Paul Mitchell in Atlanta next year and I will definitely be taking these tips with me! :)
awesome, Paul mitchell is great!. best of luck!! :)
I finish my 1600 Wednesday! And have my Stateboard Next Wednesday!!
haha thanks so much for watching! :)
Today was day one of cos school for me and I didn't expect anywhere near this much book work. I was so glad you mentioned that because I was thinking maybe it's just me??? hahah
I'm going to cosmetology school in September and I cant wait to go probably going into hair :) !
My favorite thing about cosmetology school is definitely makeup and color!!
mine too! anything involving color!!
My favorite part about cosmetology school was struggling because it kept me wanting to get it right. Practice practice practice!
lol righ?t! Its addicting! :)
ANother awesome thing about it was learning all the different colors and the color wheel..You never think about all the different tones and colors in just your hair..:)
absolutely. Its such a fun industry!
:)
I'm starting school in March! I'm super nervous, but super excited as well!! I hope the school is the right fit :)
Very informative video Silvia!
Thank you so much this has helped me a lot because I am starting hair school in a couple of weeks and I can tell it's gonna be a challenge but like you said, you have to have a passion for it
Doing hair and makeup is my dream job, but it's not a big thing here in wisconsin I would have to move to like Cali, or Florida or even New York! ):
yes come to California!! :)
Im from wisconsin too and yohr right its so blah here lol
I love going to Cosmetology school I mind my own and so far so good
nice! You'll do great!
Thank you for this video I really appreciated it, Im going into makeup myself and I was thinking about hair but im not 100% sure just yet.... But knowing what to look out for is nice.
thank U for doing this video im gonna start school soon and I wanted to know from a personal experience to school Me on a lil tips of survival! and this happen to be it thanks for keeping it straight and real just like how it is
Im starting my cosmetology classes in October super excited just a little worried about the book work
im about to start cosmetology school in a few days and im really nervous specially about being around other women that like to much drama and gossip
I'm starting empire beauty school in a couple of weeks . I'm very nervous , but excited at the same time . not sure if I'm ready for the academic part of it though !
Thanks so much for this video just Wat I needed I start school tomorrow
I'm in cosmetology school now and this is spot on
Hahaha right! thanks so much for watching, hope you find some of this helpful, and Best of luck to you!!
I'm debating working for more experience... or heading back to school as a cosmetology instructor (I really enjoy school!)
What's your opinion of stylists (with under 5years of experience) becoming instructors?
But i just want to start small haha
deidaraakun me too haha. Im already looking at cosmetology schools lol.
Nathali Rebolledo When are you starting school?
I am starting on August, Good Luck! :)
Thanks for the helpful tips. I really needed this
I want to go so bad. I've been saying it for awhile but it's tough to pull off full time school and work. The only part time school is a vocational school and it's not that great so I'm stuck. I wish I had gone right after high school!
Great tips btw and the drama is prob what held me back in high school haha
Thanks for the advice!
Most welcome :) I did it part time while working to be able to afford it so it is possible. work during the day and go to school at night.
I start my education in cosmetology at Paul Mitchell in Indianapolis on September 30th :) I'm so excited!
Maddie Black Congrats!! On the first step into the most amazing career filed ever!! You will do great!
How is it going so far? I'm thinking of going to Paul Mitchell.
lol its true!
Maybe you could do a styling video :)
lol I survived cosmetology school I had to make up over 200 + hours it was super hard but I did it and now I have my license and I work in a salon I wanna be a colorist and yes theory I remember I did pretty well thanks god lol
good thing I'm booksmart . that's half the battle.
Its on my list!
I’ve been in cosmetology school for a year and I had a client ask me yesterday if they were my first client. How do I carry myself with confidence and relax myself in what I’m doing?
just finished cosmo school today!!!
Congrats!
Oh congrats! i shoulda come out with this video a year ago then lol
ellebangs loved the vid anyways, you're an inspiration!!
To go or not to go to cosmetology school?
same here --__-- have u decided?
GonePostal129 yea I decided I'm not gonna go to cosmetology school I'll just teach myself for my own knowledge (: rather not spend all that money on school u kno haha
Savon Baker lol, awesome. At least you'll Save money ;-) Goodluck
Thanks you too (:
I can't Waite to start cosmetology school!
PS apartment tour!
Love ya
are you doing cosmetology school soon? where you going?
stateboard was very nerve racking but I passed so don't sole your self out and don't let the ppl around you make you nervous at the test becuz they definitely will lol
Thanks so much you're an inspiration 💁💆💇💅
thanks! x
What tips do you have for me to get into a high-end and what should be our expectation for work after finishing of cosmetology school?
this will be an up coming video. On how to get into a salon :)
ellebangs yay!
Love this video :) been in school awhile now I have 1200 hrs I need 1600 I'll be done soon ^_- & yes it's a lot of book work and perms & wet sets lol
what is your opinion on going to smaller schools? I currently go to cosmetology school at the local community college because it's so much cheaper than Aveda. but I'm worried I'm not getting the kind of experience I need and I won't have the big name school to make me competitive in the industry. I've been told that it matters more where I assist when I get out of School, but I'm worried I might not get that opportunity without the PM or Aveda experience. What are your thoughts? I am scared to take out that huge of a loan, but I am willing to do it for the sake of my career.
Thanks for the video girl
I'm looking into different cosmetology schools. What do you think about pivot point that some schools are showing now?
Did you lowlight your hair? It looks amazing!
I keep mostly just the to really blonde, so when I wear it up it looks a lot darker. This was a bad hair day. hehe thanks for watching
ellebangs I wish my bad hair days looked so good! ha ha You always look great! You have a sweet spirit and that shows in your beauty :)
hi i am 13 and i love to style hair soon i am going to buy a manikin head
i am a boy is there boys there? i got bullied soo many times when i try to tell someone.
***** Thanks that means alot!:)
:( cry's of joy...
Hey man, I'm a dude too! And I love cutting hair. I'm actually about to attend a cosmetology school too. But yeah, if you love something, don't let other people get to you by making fun of you. Just shake it off and do what you want. Don't let people drag you down man! You'll be good.
i cant wait to go to beauty school
How did you know what school to choose?
I want to go to cosmetology school but I don't k om if I should go a school like a Paul Mitchell School or a techincal college that offers cosmetology. I don't know which one is better.
Any tips? ❤
What age did you start cosmo school and what school did you attend?❣️
What do you think about people who say Cosmetology is a field that has quick burn out?
I'm thinking about going to cosmetology school soon ....I live in jersey right next door to NYC but want to go to school in north jersey .so have you heard anything good or bad things about Robert fiance, the professional salon academy and Empire beauty ????? I need advice asap
the hardest thing for me to deal with was my instructors. they were so lazy. and didnt want to help when we asked for it. which I didn't understand.. like they were there to help us? lol
aw that sucks. Most of my instructors were great and motivational. Except fpr one lol, who couldnt answer my color questions.
lol yeahh. it was really frustrating.
omg me too they didnt wanna teach!
Those teachers should get fired for that.
Plz watch fingers random on RUclips and Comment
I start 03/21/17, I'm nervous.
I'm 1 week into cosmetology school. How do I start vlogging my experience and getting a audience that will watch?
I'll def watch. I'm just starting week two.
How can I calm down the way people are in my ENERGY.
Im starting cos this school year(;
Do they also teach you on makeup and nails?
of course! But mainly hair!
O my gosh you look so freaking gorgeous, I'm hating right now lol
hahaha thanks I guess :D
The easiest way to get pass Cosmetology school is finding one that has stunning looking women like you attending. Period!
Im stuggling to stay in school lol
Did you go to cosmetology school right after high school?
Yea :) I actually did it twice. I went back to specialize in Color at the RedKen academy the second time.
Volunteer Beauty in Dyersburg Tennessee, I want to finish so badly, but it'll definitely have to be at another school.
What does cosmetology include?? I want to learn makeup and hair , so should I study cosmetology??

It won't take you years to get your license either so I suggest you go for it! good luck!
Julie Hammel I want to get into cosmetology and i love graphic design😂😂😂
Is cosmo school for guys too I’ve been wanting to join but all I ever hear is girls joining I’ve never heard of a guy
Hrmmppfff... do u have a cold?? Love love love your vids! Thanks!!
I know I sound like it. hehe
Also, when u went to school, did you concentrate mostly on hair, or did you go over make-up as well?
Check out my blog post on my tour of the Aveda Institute! wp.me/p5EBAo-h
WHAT ABOUT GUYS!?
Why did you go to cosmetology school twice?
She didn't go twice, what do you mean?
Hi
people going in aren’t “academic”. ...ok.
My favorite part about cosmetology school was struggling because it kept me wanting to get it right. Practice practice practice!
exactly :)
