- In the last video I showed you how to safety wire bolts. In this video I’ll show you 2 methods to safety a turnbuckle. Stick around for some tips and tricks. This is a step by step for aircraft mechanics or A&P students. Aviation maintenance can be difficult but I'm here to simplify it for you. Be easy.
I work for a major airline I haven't safety wire a turnbuckle and 20-30 years maybe longer but we use Clips I've actually forgot how to do it thanks
Even the General Aviation shops I worked at all used clips. But safety wire is always a skill I try to keep in practice.
Nice job thank you
Saw another video where the guy crosses his safety wire three times coming down the barrel before getting to the eye(s). Seeing the different ways makes me wonder who's doing what, IAW what? All that said (typed), you explanation and demonstration was gtg man. "jeezus" clips for the win,
You should be using AC 43.13-B. For your IAW. However, I have seen certain manufacturers put out their own procedures. The method I used in this video will get past the O&P and is acceptable for most GA installations.
Thank i need to skill test 4 type of wrap
Can you do a video on how to safety wire multiple bolts in series.
Thanks
great now I can tear off the mess I made on my turnbuckles last night and do it the right way. how do I know if I need single or double on my ultralight where I can easily visually inspect it
For an ultra light, a single wrapp is going to be fine. I only use a double if it's what the manufacturers recommend, which most GA manufacturers do not. Glad the video was helpful
how do I know how tight to make my control cables, ive got the fiber rollers from spruce, it's in my ultralight. I don't have a cable tension checker
You will need a tensiometer, I'd see if you can borrow one before buying it.
@@brycebuildsit I only need to adjust my elevator tension on the kolb firestar and the guys at the factory say they make it tight enough so the wires don't slap in the fuse tube. that checker goes for 200 bucks nowadays!
"Хвосты " можно бы свернуть вместе ...
My safety wire doesn’t want to stay nice and tight in the spiral wrap portion. Does this mean I need smaller gauge wire?
Not necessarily, it does help if you use a pair of pliers to grab the wire wrapping around the bolt and pull on it wiel you start the twist. Going down in wire size will help, but you want to make sure it's not too small or it won't have the strength to hold the hardware.
just did mine not to long ago, kinda confusing and even more confusing with little to no space
I've had to do a bunch of them completely blind. Because Cessna
@@brycebuildsitworking on a Cessna right now. I prefer the hawker
