- Green Day surprised everyone by playing 2 songs after the encore of the broadway show "American Idiot" Me and my friend were sitting center orchestra, row B thanks to an MTV contest. GREEN DAY ROCKED THE HOUSE!!!
Recorded on April 22, 2010 using a Flip Video camcorder.

Well because all the dookie songs were in Eb tuning and blue is tuned to Eb tuning and all his other guitars are in standard tuning. If you havent noticed in this live performance, they are playing in standard so eveything is a half step up which is different from the album version and most live performances.

Everyone complains about Old or New Green Day, but when it's Green Day from nowadays playing the old songs, it sounds 100% better. I think it's the perfect combo.

@RainbowSnow101 if these guys even had the slightest clue what impact they would they would have back then, they wouldn't have even written American Idiot. These guys were a punk band that was not afraid to change genres and take the flak for it when they wrote songs like "Good Riddence"
That is good work when they can accept that flak and still push forward on what they want to write songs about.
I was in NYC that Thursday morning through Monday.I had three Broadway shows on my itinerary (not of my choosing but it was my first time doing B'way). Friday night I'd JUST missed them coming out of the theater after getting out of Addams Family (xcellent show, BTW). Saturday I didn't have time to catch Green Day's side project in some Chelsea dive bar. Don't remember where they performed the next night but missed that, too (lack of funds). Still I met "St.Jimmy"" so that was cool.

I would probably stand there and film Green Day singing their song. If I did feel like I needed to get in a shot with them at the same time, I would not, however, point the camera at myself and sing along like that. I would calmly hand my camera to someone nearby, and politely ask them to take a video of me with the band in the background.

@brentgilson that's 'cause on their older stuff they were simpler, pretty much just bass, drum, and guitar. They even didn't play solos. But now they're about the show as well, so now they have more people so they can do solos, and so Billie Joe can be fucking amazing and run around and shit and the guitar will still be playing, played by another person. The other three people are more like a back up band,
This to me, is the real Green day. Just 3 guys well 4 really, having the time of their life without a single care in the world, this is GREEN DAY, for get what type of music weather it be Dookie or American Idiot, or Nimrod or 21st Century Breakdown, its not about that, its about them being them, thats all their is to it......

Jason isn't an official Green Day member. But, he does makes part of the band by doing a lot of guitar playing for them. So do Jason Freeze and Jeff Matika. Without them, they wouldn't have had a lead guitar player, a saxophone(or what the hell it is XD) player and no piano player. So, it is nice to have them.
