Finally some excitement on the horizon. Following the VdG since the 96/97 edition, and this one has been slightly boring since the North Atlantic Le Cam breakaway South and all other boats going West, then bunching up, then the series of 24 hour records was exciting. Since then, it became a bit bureaucratic; reminding me a bit like the days when Formula One racing was a procession and cars rarely passed other cars. But things are about to improve, it seems. This channel has been one of the great aspects for this edition of the VdG, very clear and to the point. Thank you.

I remember years ago talking with a friend who crewed on a round the world race aboard a 100' cat. They did not wear harnesses because they would be killed by them at 30+ kn. They knew they would never be recovered alive by the time the boat got turned around and back to them so they wore a knife around their neck to end their suffering. The thought of this is chilling enough that on my cat with my harness on I can't get near any edge on the boat.

Allow me - if you please - a really stupid question:
What do these racers use to take the "off-boat" video shots?
Do they use drones - or are these 'AI' shots, identical to these new 'surround-view cameras' one can find on newer cars, which even display the pictures on the monitor taken from the top down?
Your response{s} will be greatly appreciated.

The leaders continue to head South East until the computer says turn. They will need to gybe at around 300nm from here, more or less. Probably less. And so, when one gybe's the other will gybe. The match race in the Southern Ocean will be close. No turning off the AIS!

AND a HUGE low pressure area is meeting the leaders at Cape Horn. OMG. If the sched holds, the leaders are in for either heaving to, or bracing for the big one. Wow. In other news, the JOY expressed by Pip, just yesterday was memorable. Wow. Condolences that Pip no longer has a mast. :-( :-( :-(

You hate Charlie Dalin. You made him turn north 2 days ago and the competition is catching up. You want to stop him from winning the race at all costs.
Вы ненавидите Шарля Далина. Вы заставили его повернуть на север 2 дня назад, и соперники догоняют. Вы хотите любым путем не дать ему выиграть гонку.
