Glad it was made. This was the first song I played out at bars and festivals with my dad's band when I was 12. The other was so cold by Breaking Benjamin. They give me serious nostalgia.
I prefer to here the soulful and the energetic solos from slash in my headphones than watching life and jamming with the fastest guitarist in the world
Holy shit. Saw this on a dvd when I was learning guitar and never stopped playing it. Was the sickest shit I had heard at the time. So wild to find this. Made me play in drop d for the first time haha
@Greg Davis Clap's best records without a doubt were with an SG, but other than his time with the Yardbirds, he never is really associated with LPs, and with good reason; He's favored the Strat for nearly the last five decades. Conversely, Slash is more associated with the Les Paul than any other guitarist of the last 40 years. If you wouldn't include him in the top 5, then who would be your fifth person? You only listed 4 in your original post.
This guitar appears during the Velvet Revolver era, Slash had this Derrig later than the more famous '59 Replica. The top is very strange and special. It dates from late 86 early 87 and he sometimes used for live.
@cbay07 Thats Slash’s second “Rist” burst. His first one was bought in 1984 from Guitars R Us in L.A. during the early years of GnR, it was made by a man named Roman Rist. He played the guitar a lot, but had to pawn it for heroin in 1986. He came in contact with Rist some time ago, and bought this guitar from him.
he's using a Marshall Vintage Modern and his third favourite guitar.. the second LP copy of Chris Derrig. Slash uses it a lot for recording stuff. There's a pic of his 3 Replicas.
If you're talking about his new guitar, it's a Slash custom. He has about four different Slash customs out right now so look them to figure out specifics.
His 5 favourite guitars are: a Gibson Les Paul Replica '59 made by Chris Derrig (and now Gibson made a new Slash's signature guitar of it), another Gibson Les Paul '59 Replica made by Peter Baranet (simply called the Max guitar), an original 1987 Les Paul maple top (the one he used to use live), a 1988 Les Paul (the one you usually see live with VR too and there's a signature of it) and an original 1958 Les Paul with a pick up cover removed, damaged body and with the pickguard flamed
He uses octaves only during the verse. The intro riff and after the first chorus interlude chorus part is all 3 D A and E strings together. You can hear where they come in cuz its louder than the verse riff cuz its all 3 strings together played without a palm mute.
for example the first note in that riff, the power chord would be the top 3 strings open, but with octaves you play the top string and the 3rd string only because they are both D notes
DAMN... if I'm not mistaken, this is a ORIGINAL 59 les paul. Can tell by the discoloration (or less discoloration under the pick guard) that was caracteristic of 59-early 60 model. it probably worth near an half millions bucks today. I hope he still has the original PAF humbuckers.....
I'm aving up for the amp he' using. Well I'm getting a 2x12 cab instead of big ass 4x12. The am he's using is the 100 watt marshall vintage modern head. I'm craving for one of those. I'll get it by the end of this month, I'm so excited.
For those commenting about how Slash looks like Otto from the Simpsons, I believe I heard that someone from the show went to Hollywood High at the same time Slash was there....thus he is the inspiration for the character
Slash is such a chill, badass, amazing player. Two notes and you know it's him.
BRO....he is the REAL DEAL! Amazing talent!
Fact!
One of the best riffs ever created, I can't believe they almost scrapped it
What's amazing is its simplicity as a riff its ingenious. Scott Weiland singing around the riff was amazing it jelled so well.
Agreed!
Slash is so calm, he seems like he's be easy to be around
This guitar, this tone, this amp...this is truly rock n roll
it miss ... this guy... smell rock n'roll!!!
This is not on any level rock&roll. I get what you are trying to say, but this is hardrock.
@@emielsmalbil6904 I've heard harder.
@@larrybethune3909 good for you!
Sounds terrible, what you drinking?
When he switched to the power chords, its like a shot of testosterone!
Heavy as fuck 🤘
thats the most beautiful les paul ive ever seen
Glad it was made.

I always loved the outro riff. That final little piece
another example that keeping things simple and straightforward is the secret of good rock music
Love Slash, love rock.
Such an easy song to play I keep playing over and over. It's amazing gotta love Slash's creativity.
Thank god it made it to the record!
nobody knows how much i love this man. i have hendrix tattooed to my laft arm - Slash will soon be on my right.
you get the tattoo?
Tattoos are lame. Soccer moms get them now.
I know a guy who has slash and duff tattoo on his arm and he doesn't even play any instruments.
He's gonna be famous one day
I hope so
That Derrig ‘59 Les Paul copy looks amazing 👍🤙
Very cool when artists will teach you their licks! Thank you Slash, and thank you Guitar Center for having such a cool platform!
Its actually Guitar World not Guitar Center lol
Hahaja guitr center 😂
Who cares what a Singer thinks? You're Slash.
The burst on that LP is unlike any I've ever seen. I dont know if I love it or hate it.
I prefer to here the soulful and the energetic solos from slash in my headphones than watching life and jamming with the fastest guitarist in the world

This tone gives me goose bumbs every time!
This guitar looks amazing

Thank God Scott picked upon it right away as it is one of my favorites.
Slash looks cool as shit, the Les Paul looks stunning, and the Marshall sounds kickass. This is too perfect
The master of the Les Paul ;)
Steve Gaines was a Les Paul master also
@@dougott2974 please don't compare brother
Steve with...slash
Billy f Gibbons.
@Greg Davis Slash easily belongs in that list. Take Clapton out because he's barely ever associated with an LP. SG and more notably, the Strat.

slash you rock man!!!!You are da best and you really can play cool at anytime anywhere!!!
Probably the best slash riff.
I don't know what mesmerized me more, his god like playing or his gold like guitar!!
Wonder how many awesome riffs have been scrapped and never heard again
That is a killer flame, where the hell can I find a les paul with a flame like that?
Is a replica, derrig
@@saintcrowhb that's not the derrig LP
@@shreyjaiswal1683 it actually is, theres more than 1 derrig
You can buy a guitar like that anywhere, but when you get it,it won’t sound like that one.😂
So glad they didn't pass on it in the end. I'd go as far to say it's my favorite song Slash has been part of since Appetite for Destruction.
Ay up Stoke lad!
With many blessings to you and all whom you love. AJ, Trentham, Stoke, England.
I actually was at the Vicky 10 years ago and he kicked the arse out of it, unbelievable gig killer setlist.
Love that Marshall Half Stack in the Back there so nice
Thank you for the lesson Slash.
Outstanding song. You are definitely a outstanding guitar player.
That’s Slash, one of the best guitarists in the world lmao
thats a fucking awesome song! im so glad it made it into the album. :D

I can't believe videos from 2007 that were recorded with a toaster are popping up in my feed. I bought this Guitar World Magazine with this disc, lol.
he's using a Marshall Vintage Modern and his third favourite guitar.. the second LP copy of Chris Derrig. Slash uses it a lot for recording stuff. There's a pic of his 3 Replicas.
Slither sounds dark and mysterious.
wow this video helped a lot for this song. i had everything right except for the chorus. my chorus was slightly off.

That's a Vintage Modern Marshall Amp. I actually own one. It's an awesome amp.
Slash the best guitarist!
for example the first note in that riff, the power chord would be the top 3 strings open, but with octaves you play the top string and the 3rd string only because they are both D notes
In that case, I have no clue.
Most likely a standard and it definitely has Alnico II pickups in it.
Aww... that sound.
Im so gonna learn that riff
i like that riff
Slash Rocks!! -philippines
look at how relaxed his hands are.

You may be able to play 100 notes a secound but no one can beat a single bend by slash!!!!!

@guitardedboy08 he was actually talking bout different riffs in the song, all the ways he shows their are what actually uses in the song.
Slash does kick ass

there's an interview somewhere in youtube where duff tells the story
he has on of the jcm 800 too but here he is using a vintage modern
Nice.
omg is slash using an original 1959 les paul O.o tats jus epic
@TheAzzzra actually otto the character is based on slash
and Duff (the beer) is named after duff
matt groening was a gunner i guess
nice suond!!!
Slash + Les Paul = Danger !!
Can anyone answer if this was the non-gloss flat finish Gibson did in the early to mid 2000s? Looks like it in some angles?
@partlyshady Yea true but everyone has own their opinion and plus Slash is one of my favorite guitarist!
Its a gibson les paul standard with some sort of sunburst/AFD paint scheme. Also, its pickups are changed to alnico 2 pro's
DAMN RIGHT!
@TheAzzzra actually. Otto looks like him. Matt groening is a giant guns n roses fan and named alot of the stuff after guns n roses i.e. "duff" beer
For those commenting about how Slash looks like Otto from the Simpsons, I believe I heard that someone from the show went to Hollywood High at the same time Slash was there....thus he is the inspiration for the character
