We appreciate you taking the time to watch. We feel blessed to have the opportunity to do this and we are grateful for all the support. Danny&Josh
A old-school book of wisdom thats kept up with new technology = dangerous. He didnt break the surface on what he knows but he just taught alot of folks more than they could've learned in a lifetime. Always listen to the Bills of your area. Awesome podcast
Thank you. We squeeze out of them what we can! He's awesome and thank s for watching!
@@FishNorthGeorgiaI'm chartering this dude..talked today .. absolutely a fine gentleman...as knowledge hungry as ever..can't wait .
Wow. Pure gold. I really like how you let the guests talk. Other shows it more about the host than the guest. They interrupt way too much. You don’t do that. Great questions also.
Thank you very much. You're right. No one wants to hear from me because I'm no expert. I'm learning just like the viewer! Appreciate the comment and you watching. Means a lot to me.
OLD SCHOOL WISDOM IS THE BEST! Always respect your elders, thank you sir 👍🏻
Thanks for watching!! Bill is the man!
Bill has so much knowledge I can’t take it all in. Need to take another trip with him
We all do!
I get home from work at 11pm. This episode is gold for me.
This was a great video for a beginner angler thank you
It's a good video for everyone! Thanks for watching!!
I’ve been night fishing spinnerbaits 25 years and I learned something new that I’m going to try good stuff!
Thanks for watching and let us know if it works for you!
Invaluable info. Thank you Bill!
Bill is a TOP SHELF GUY!!
The realest most genuine informative video on night fishing and fishing in general insights I’ve ever witnessed seriously thank you I hope you have him back soon!
Thanks for watching! Bill is a great friend so I'll have him back on very soon!
I use to slow roll a big spinner bait on lake Lanier at night. Had a lot of success using it. I have had the blade ripped off from vicious strikes.
This seasoned fellow here has knowledge that would help even the novice night time fishermen, us down in Alabama on Tennessee river for sure throw them 3/4 spinnerbaits , Mr bill here I’d love to fish with him one time just get more of this knowledge for sure very very good podcast.
He's a good one!
Loved this video. Never seen anybody put out a night time spinner bait fishing video. Up here in Tennessee, it's alive and well. Using Dale Hollow tackle spinner baits as well as hoppys and sloans. They're eating it up at Center hill right now for us
I do a lot of dock light fishing from my kayak but I’ve been itching to actually learn to catch em at night. I bought some all black spinnerbaits and have a few areas to try it out! Thanks Mr. Payne!
Thanks for watching!
nice podcast, Danny! Love the topic and I love nite fishing when I can do it. Love listening to Bill and his knowledge. You said slow talker…so true. 😂 This is the only podcast I could listen to at 2x speed, and not miss anything. 😂
I'm laughing my butt off with your comment. I do that on some of my Audible books!
Hi Bill. Tim and I were happy to be those guys you were fishing with . We should have caught a hundred. You're amazing to fish with!
Summer time at night here in East Texas, (Fork, Toledo Bend, Sam Rayburn, etc.) a top water Jitterbug, or hollow bodied frog is hard to beat.
1:07:15 Reminds me of the other day when I was trying to target fish on LS with a jig head minnow and my 8-year old is in the back of the boat fishing a 3/16 ounce jig head minnow like a spoon. I looked back there and laughed, but it wasn't funny after about 15 minutes when he had caught two to my zero. 🤣
Excellent , one of the best I've ever watched,, ole school on the water knowledge
He's the man! Thanks for watching!!
My biggest bass have all come at night but always on top water. Im gonna give this spinner bait thing a shot though
We need to try more topwater at night around here!
We run a night tournament series up in Michigan, the gap in knowledge has presented some interesting results
This is a goldmine. Awesome interview!
Big fan of this podcast. If any of yall want to come on over to lake chickamauga for the summer night fishing. Harrison bay boat ramp every Friday snd Saturday night from 8pm to 2 am. Tim Long puts on a good tournament.
That sounds like a good time. Never fished it at night.
Those fellers will beat your brains in LOL! Fished against them all for years. Good dudes.
@@FishNorthGeorgia it’s a good time
This reminds me of my wee lad days in the 80s eavesdropping on conversations between some of the local sticks in the tackle shop. Private club made up of a couple quarry lakes. Lots of sunken rock piles. One night I’m in the shop, a couple of the locals are in there and they’re huddled around the owners box looking at baits. They all had this wild eyed look about them. The box was full of spinnerbaits. Musky spinnerbaits! These things looked like clothes hangers with a hook and blade on them. Huge. But they were heavy and one of the extremely productive techniques was crawling those enormous baits across the bottom for big largemouth. At the time there were no options available for big spinnerbaits. Of course there were smart guys that eventually realized you could crimp weights onto bass sized spinnerbaits to fish more efficiently.
That Black Light fishing is fun stuff. I got to do it a bunch last summer on Lanier
I use to tear up largemouth around 10pm-12am on a whopper plopper before everyone started throwing them . Early fall around September and October. I’m talking every 10 casts in about 5 feet of water around the bank. It’s died off the past few years but still a solid bite.
Not a lot of people around here throw topwater at night. Maybe we should start!!
Great video! The two things I can add. 1. If you're going to fish for Smallmouth bass make sure you have a good split ring (not thin wire) on the spinnerbait blade. They will rip it right off. The other is to make sure you have a tight knot on the r-bend of the spinnerbait, otherwise the line will go to the blade end and you'll end up with a straight spinnerbait. Bill is right, the 35 gauge wire is the sweet spot for spinnerbait. Those two fish I'm holding up were on spinnerbaits at night. Thank you Bill. P.S. Turn off the depth finder once you start fishing.
Thanks for sharing the tip! That's what it's all about!!
Awesome Show
Thank you!
What a great wealth of knowledge 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😎🐟💦💦💦 great show, brother
Great guest and video ! Very good insights on safety at night . Years ago I had a near miss after midnight with a float tuber that was out in the middle of a small lake with no lights of any kind on . Luckily I was slowly crossing a lake arm to the opposite bank and not on pad maybe going 5-7 MPH . with my nav lights on when I was just about on him he turns a flash light on at the last second and starts yelling , I had to swerve hard to miss him . IDIOT ! I said to myself .
I fish a lake that has Blue back but there is no grass or trees. Just man made brush piles & silt. Years ago a spinner bait was juice but anymore the bait has to be dragged through a brush pile or rock pile to even get a bite after sunset.
The herring were introduced along with spotted bass 12 to 15 years ago but it’s easily the hardest lake you will ever fish if you want to catch a bass over 3lbs. What’s funny is that there are 7+ pretty heavy. Just extremely shy about everything a fish can be.
Can you spray WD-40 on the swivel to help it from sticking?
Yes
What brand of grub was that
I'll ask him today and post.
I fish quite a bit at night when temp get over 100dg.
Over the years I have had better success just sitting on one high percentage area. Weird part is it almost seems like different group of bass come in as the night goes on.
Or that is my belief; it could be they are there the whole time. Maybe they just bite in thier own bite window.
Hell I don't know
I feel the same way. Who knows? But Bill leads us into some options for sure!
😮 I'm 60 and retired! I have been saying every year I'm going to do some night fishing *** And never do < I will get out one night this year !! And I dont have to get up a 3am
Thanks for watching our video!
Is there a secret to keep the line from wrapping around the blade arm of the spinnerbait when making long cast? This happens to me all the time.
Not sure why that's happening to you. I'll shoot Bill a message and see what he says. Thanks for watching!
Draw up a small piece of heat shrink tubing over and just below the eye.
Are you fishing in 50 mph winds? Lmao this never happens to me
Maybe it’s the brand or wire size or the line. I started reting every hour and it has helped. Maybe you don’t throw it as much as I do?. I throw a spinner baitit for 7-8 hours night fishing
he knows the deal, so many little things he said that i wouldn’t tell a soul lol
Bill's all about helping others catch fish. Fantastic guy!
I wonder if you kind of revitalize a spent swivel with a couple shots of WD40 during the night. This gentleman is an absolute gem.
He's the man!
The most dangerous thing about night fishing is those black floating widow makers that are not on your lake maps!
Yep you have to spend some time on the water at night just chillin and cruising around slow just to really get familiar with being out there in it, and never be so eager to just try running wide open on unfamiliar waters first thing. And the biggest thing that would help guys is turn those damn screens off or as dim as they can go to while you’re driving from place to place, if they will go low enough that you aren’t having to try to see past them. One of the biggest impediments to seeing well on the water at night is the big bright ass screen that’s right in front of you. It’s much safer to run at night without your screens turned on, and just knowing the body of water. Then turn it back on once you get to the area you were going. If you don’t know the water well enough to know where you’re going without your mapping, you better be planning on driving slow enough that you can safely watch what is ahead of you and check your mapping every so often as you go. Plan to be happy slowing down when it comes to being on the water at night. Otherwise, you should probably plan to have a rough night because trying to run and gun at night is a very good way to make that happen very fast.
Agreed! Part of the reason I fish out of a mud boat on those night tournaments
I have a Sionyx Nightwave night vision camera connected to a Lowrance HDS-12 at the helm. Almost like driving in the daytime. Also have a Garmin Map unit to watch. A little spooky at first, driving the boat in virtual reality, (also use my eyes to look around) but much better than just relying on vision. You can see ripples on the water and anything floating. I don’t run too fast, but I’m on plane and cruising. Much safer!
@@davidallen6999 I also have a pilots license and I can make the comparison to flying in the clouds. An IFR (Instrument Flight Rule) pilot relies on equipment, training and the air traffic controllers to direct him safely as he travels through poor visibility. It’s when a VFR (Visual Flight Rule) pilot ventures haphazardly into the soup that a midair collision can happen. Sounds like you have great equipment and are using it cautiously.
Just watch out for those boneheads that run 70 mph in the dark because they think they know all the factors or ignore some of them.
All it takes is one subsurface floating log or a swimming deer to change things forever.
Be safe and catch a big one!
I'm the best @ night. Only 10 years of the night. Mastered it my first year. It's very simple fishing and easier to catch smarter fish.
It's definitely a great time for those who know how to do it! Thanks for watching!!
Me and this dude are 1 and the same
He's a fantastic guy! Thanks for watching!
Wait… the younger is the two old guys, he’s the guy that works with his son and rebuilds Copar wreck trucks and sells them right?
Are you talking about the host Danny?
@@FishNorthGeorgia yes
The reason they are on the bottom of the lake is so they something to sleep on!! No, it’s so the have an object to relate too. Just like that brush pile in the day time.
Twin arm two blade Indiana copper color no.4 blade black skirt. Black blue pork trailer
Definitely a good set up right there!
Bill find a good ABC practitioner and they can help you with you back and neck.. sorry it's what I do for a living and it's very correctable
Who?
