one of the founding members of the group was Sid Berret he, unfortunately, dabbled in drugs once to often and started down a path of mental illness enough for him to check himself into a mental facility effectively quitting the band and leaving room for David Gilmour to take over vocals and lead guitar ... he visited the band 10 years after he left and at first, they did not recognize him but the visit prompted the song .... wish you where here among other things

He was invited to attend the sessions for Wish You Were Here (or maybe it was Shine On You Crazy Diamond), and the band didn't even recognize him. He shaved his head and gained a lot of weight due to his meds. 😢 Sydney Barrett did put out two solo albums in the 70's, Barrett, and The Madcap Laughs. He passed away in 2006.
Excellent reaction! My husband had this as the ringtone for his 2 older brothers after they moved from east coast to west coast. After he was able to move out west his eldest brother passed away from a brutal battled with colon cancer. I haven’t heard him play this song ever since.

One of their best. Pink Floyd is the best, end of the day, light up a doob and sit back with your eyes close and float away. They create audio landscapes which are so simple, but effective. Gilmour's voice and guitar are other worldly.
