About us:
We're Jack & Megan, and in late 2020 we sold our belongings and packed our lives into our 2005 Toyota Troop Carrier to travel Australia. Our original plan was to complete a full lap of Australia and return home to Perth to resume our 'normal' lives. We decided we wanted to document our lap for the future and began sharing weekly travel vlogs of our life on the road and fell in love vlogging, filmmaking and sharing our lives with you. We completed our first lap and couldn't imagine living any other way so we decided to continue travelling and calling the Troopy home. We have gone on some crazy adventures since then and it is all thanks to you tuning in to join us every week.

After my unsuccessful 31 year marriage, your videos are my mental health - you give me hope that there is someone out there who will want to share my overlanding/Surf Fishing passion. I reakon a kiddy lock they stick on fridge incase on bumpy rds it wants to open, so many at bunnings u could pop it at top & wouldnt see it?or spray blackor green or gold!

Dowel on the sliding doors above the kitchen will only work on the "front" door, rear won't be able to slide with dowels on it
Maybe change the sliding doors on the top cabinets to fixed doors hinged at the top with gas struts

Not sure if anyone has mentioned that you need to positively pressurise the caravan for dusty roads.
If you don’t every surface will be covered in dust.
Also need a way to block the fridge and door vents.
Search “caravan dust reduction”
Can be made using a car radiator fan and an external aircleaner.
If your goal is to turn the interior of your caravan to have a 50s/60s vibe, then your ideas for the upper cabinets will suit. You should also consider painting and/or wrappring the door of your fridge. It's modern colour and look makes it stick out and look out of place. You can also get various fridge/wall decals to put on it to make it blend with it's surroundings. Great progress.
Another wonderful episode, and we love your choice of colour for doors. Jack - you have given my wife vertigo with your camera work. Steady as she goes. LOL
Totally loving the build, would love to see a splash back in the kitchen on both sides (cooking area wrapped around to the fridge) would look especially nice if you make the top line of the tiles sit in line with top of the lower window (if that makes sense) so seam between the two front windows 😊 can’t wait for next episode! Hope Megan’s having an amazing time in Japan!!!
The colour scheme is lovely. I think you have a great eye for design and colour so you should do what you think best with the higher kitchen cupboards because it will be great.

Such great videography with the sunsets and sunrises! Stunning! Van is looking great too especially for a couple who are tackling it for the first time. As a cabinetmaker myself I gotta say you both have done really well. I reckon for the upper cabinets you could go a frosted perspex - a nice pastel colour might tie in well with the look. Keep up the great work I can't wait to see the new suspension go in and see how it handles with the upgraded chassis too! Hope you have a blast in Japan too Megan! I'm sure Jack will have a surprise for you when you get back!

Megan nailed the color pallete, the white, the green and the gold handles, and that fridge fitment was beyond perfect! You guys might wanna put something to stop the fridge door from swinging open wildy especiallay when park on a hill, might affect the longevity of it. Safe travels Megan, can't wait to see the Japan vlogs.

Wow, looks awesome and love the colour. Great job and coming together nicely. Wife says cupboard above should be white, I would like the mint green. Don’t think either would be wrong. Oh and for the splash back, I would add to protect, even the fake subway tiles would look good.
Jack....could I suggest that you do the final tighten on those screws with a hand screwdriver instead of the electric? It's so easy to strip the hole with the electric.....no need to ask how I know!! You will LOVE what are building on the road......GLAMPING ROCKS!!!!!

you probably already have this sorted, but I feel if you picked up a beautiful weathered blown leather couch off marketplace unpicked it all and reupholstered your seat in the leather, it would look amazing! Keep up the amazing work!
For tour upper cabinets, the dowel look will tie in well with the rest, but as your doors are sliding, you would need to make up opening doors, l would personally do the front surrounds in dowel and the perspex sliding doors, underside white, its all looking great, well done

I like the original cupboards above but maybe different knobs. The fridge is amazing wish we had that kind in our caravan. The can is looking fantastic.
I was thinking the same about the top cupboards - if it was me renovating the van I'd keep it for a bit then change it later if I got bored with it. It's certainly a feature in our twenty year old van we want to keep!

When I get to that point I won't be cutting a hole into my benchtop for any kind of hotplate. I'd rather store it away and have the bench space for display or preparation, then put away everything no longer needed, pull the cookup out and onto the bench ready to cook. Why? Because I've already owned one for several years and it made me realize some things...
1. What happens WHEN it breaks and the manufacturer changes the size/shape of the new model. The new one will no longer fit in the same hole so I'd need to buy another benchtop.
2. The screenprinted writing on the cooktop glass can rub/scratch off and the glass soon gets scratched - making it look ugly. I don't want ugly/ratty on display all the time.
3. Oil/food gets under them no matter how careful you are. After several month the rubber feet on mine began to dissolve from the oil.
4. So many times I've had to slide mine side to side while preparing or cooking, and that's in a HOUSE with more bench space... so I'd rather have it sit ON the bench instead of IN the bench, so it can be moved to suit the ingredients, condiments, utensils, etc that need to be on the bench while cooking a particular meal.
5. Cooking inside means you smell things like curry for a week, makes annoying splatter on walls that requires frequent cleaning, steam/moisture on every wall inside, hot in summer, etc. Because of these things many people cook outside. Not installing it into the benchtop means it can be used outside - which means no cleaning up.

I have a Sunbeam EM 5000 Coffee machine.. Cheap but good . (no capsules) I use Moccona Instant but Coffee bean Expresso,capp and Latte functions and milk frother (about $180) The milk container comes off and into the fridge until next time.( The machine goes to sleep after 15 mins if you forget to switch it off). If you want flavoured coffees you can use the sachets like you get in motels or supermarkets in it Ok (eg Caramel lattes) in it.

I love the idea of frosted sliding doors in the cupboards above. My only thought is will it create visual clutter being able to see the shadows of what's stored in them? Hey guys I just wanted to say I love the colour.
We done our old van darker green grey and black.
Great for cleaning & it doesn't attract bugs as much.
Do the dowels around the outside and if you can find the perspex replace your doors. Otherwise just paint the doors green.
The colours are fantastic. Now my wife wants our kitchen in the same colour 🤣. Amazing effort thus far on your project. Love your channel and all the positive vibes.

Picked the right green, looks great. I think the perspex with tge right colour would be the better option
when using the cooktop if you’re using both elements, don’t use them on more than half power as she may blow up the inverter check how many watts you’re using?

can most defs still buy that setup. but the new roller rocker is a 100% better system. parts readily available country wide really. just keep the grease upto them so the bolts in the solid bush dont wear

I have the same fridge but I’ve had to modify the freezer drawer put a wedge at the back underneath the drawer when the freezer drawer is full of food. It’s too heavy. The wedge just supports the drawer on corrugations. I also had to put an extra seal on the freezer drawer. Hope this is helpful.
I wasn't set on the colour at the start of the video, but i trusted the process and with the Benchtop and the door handles, it looks amazing guys!

That colour scheme is spot-on! We reckon it looks stylish and retro without looking old.
I reckon you'll need to do something to prevent the wall getting stained with oil/fat/sauce spatter around the stove but that nook looks like the perfect spot for a spice rack.
As for a coffee machine - the Breville Bambino is compact and reliable and while it isn't cheap, the coffee you get from it is 100% worth it.

The dowels would work around the doors edges of the doors. But on the doors, it won't work ,sliding against each other with the dowels it will be too thick.
Before you told or showed us the colour, I was thinking Sage with Terracotta trim, wood and white. I love the green you chose 🎉 My suggestion, don't make it shinier. You'll find you see finger prints constantly. The matt/ satin is totally the way to go.
Also, I'm sooo glad you decided to have a wet room/shower for many reasons. Just having a place to hang wet towels, bathers, wetsuits etc is invaluable.

Well done guys it looking great. My wife guessed the colour and it’s just the right green too and, if you change your mind it’s just a coat of paint. Jack, you don’t have to run the cables all the way around the inside as most caravan builders just go under the floor with a little bit of silicone at the entry and exit points and run the cable in conduit. We’re glad you get stuff for free and we appreciate the fact that you acknowledge it. Unlike some other channels it gives your channel a more honest feel. Cheers, Stuart & Lea, Canberra.
