That was by far the clearest and most patient tutorial for the digitakt I have ever seen. Finally someone gets it😁 Thank you ma’am. You are appreciated.
Thank you for speaking in a calming and clear voice that doesn't make one feel like you're selling them a used car. Useful info on the ol' Digitakt as well. I subbed in the first 120 seconds of the video because I felt calm and in learning mode.
Absolutely! I find all these pieces of gear kind of weird at first when you have to work out how to get to all the things you wanna do, but you push on and it becomes awesome. Thank you. xxx
there are many videos about tips for using the Digitakt live, but that's the first i saw from the perspective of a one-person-band that's not purely electro, techno, or house. i think you gave a great overview. i think you purpousely only talked about the easier and more relatable stuff about this box. the only thing i definitely also add to "important tipps" is the FILL BTN (used with trig conditions), because with different fill options you can make nice trasitions, and you could also potentially double the amout of patterns in a bank. maybe parameter locking wouldn't be too hard to explain, either
Thanks so much for your feedback! I know what you mean - I'm always on the lockout for videos about gear that aren't 100% rave-tastic, but they're not as common, are they? Will be making another Digitakt video at some point, so will definitely keep a note of your suggestions, thank you! x
Hi! A DT user here. nice video and good edition. I just discovered this channel in yt recommendations. Good to see new faces in this youtube world :). There are some things that I noticed though that might help others: -each project has 8 banks, not 4. -"control all": I noticed that you pressed "func+no", after unholding the trk button. which actually reload the pattern to the temporarily saved state. but if you just press "no" while still holding the trk button, it just come back to the state before you pressed the trk button.
Fun studio toys for the win! I haven’t played with either for a while (been making all my stuff in Ableton), but maybe I should have a screen break and go back to some hardware. 😉
Excellent video. Having bought a Model: Cycles last year and dipped my toe into the Elektron pool, I’ve been paying a lot of attention to these little buggers! Still weighing up whether I can justify the outlay but videos like this keep edging me towards getting one. Thanks for sharing these top tips, a new sub for thee here, peace ✌️
@@MADITRONIQUE Wanted a sampler in my setup and also needed a better sequencer for my synths than the BeatStep Pro has. Very happy with it so far. Just bass and bleeps in my bedroom :)
@@MADITRONIQUE been soft synths only for years, saw a used Volca for cheap during lockdown and fell deep into the hole. V Keys, V FM, V Drum, SE-02, JU-06, Drumbrute Impact, Deepmind 12D and now Digitakt. Love it all.
MADI thanks for the reply hun, i guess anything where u dig a bit deeper into its functionality would be helpful, sound design, parameter locking, lfo, owt really anything would be helpful.
Just discovered some older comments I hadn't seen, oops! I think I've only scratched the surface of the Microfreak, but yes, they are fun! Weird to actually play if you're a piano/keys player though - the lack of actual moving keys I find a very strange sensation. x
@@MADITRONIQUE So far I've used it to experiment with many wonderful production techniques outside my DAW such as sampling (of course 😉) with use of conditional trigs, granular, a little midi sequencing here and there, and over all musical joy! But, I love mixing so I tend to use Overbridge quite often too.
You know what, I've never used Overbridge, but now I'm like.... why haven't I?!?! I've always found digging around in hardware to do stuff a bit annoying for the creative flow.... is Overbridge the answer?
Thank you for your very clear (and sassy) explanations! I've been looking into getting the digitakt but I'm a bit wary of the slightly less intuitive sequencer after using a Novation Circuit for a few years (and now the Tracks). From what I've read so far, the lack of song mode is more than made up for in the creative ways that samples can be remade into all kinds of things. And, of course, the notoriously great Elektron sound qaulity.
Thank you! I find with any piece of gear I just have to sit with it and go deep down the rabbit hole. Haven’t used the Digitakt for ages now, maybe it’s time to go back. 😆
Hej there, found this rather ancient video (in web times at least ;) and I'm kinda in the same boat, just using the Syntakt not DT. Playing bass or keys and wanting the machine to change patterns when I want it (or not). So, what are you using for changing them when your hands are busy, something like a Morningstar Midi Pedal, or the SingularSound one? cheers
Superb tutorial, love the style - "So simply explained I dare u to f#ck it up!" . I'd love to see you explain trigger conditions pls. This tutorial assumes absolutely no knowledge, brilliant for me I got a digitakt this morning and this really helped 👏🏾👏🏾
@@MADITRONIQUE I'm loving it thanks. Using it pretty basically at the moment, yet to dive deeply into trigger conditions. Mostly using it as a fancy backing track for my dodgy piano playing. Your tutorial really helped break the ice thanks 🙏🏾
Aaahh, that's great to hear! My knowledge is very based on the specific things I've used it for - I'd like to just spend some time looking into all its other features. I'm considering getting a power pack so I can go play with it outside somewhere and get away from computers for a change. 😉 👍
max sample length is 33 secs. also storage space is somewhat limited. its designed mostly with 1 shots in mind rather than extended samples. so it depends what you mean by vocals - short vocal chops, yes. whole verses/songs its not so ideal.
I think you can get record vocals in, but you need to convert your mic signal to a jack lead, I’ve never done it, personally. Don’t see why you couldn’t do a whole album, you can save loads of separate projects / songs. 😊
