Great Idea! Depending on the plat and size layered, you might want to cut the foliage back till it grows enough roots to support it. I'd put a bag over the bottle so it doesn't get crazy hot from direct Sun.
When layering you don't need to reduce the foliage as you do when trying to establish new roots from a cutting. The intended propagule is still connected through vascular tissue and is still receiving its nutrients/water from the root source.
You are both correct gents @Caden Rolland on the transplant if your root system isn't well established enough you may need to and the size of your air layer will be impacted by the size of the root system. @MakerMike: you are correct too, while it is connected the vascular tissue will support it
Few months back did 12 mango airlayeirin with ckonex branches I chose 1 inch round by 5 to 7 feet tall removed all leave cut lower branches happy to say this method works for me, next year for sure will harvest small crop.
Hi TreeMentor...today I did this "hydro airlayering" in two places on my 5 year old pear tree using cut off plastic soda bottles to hold the water. 3 times already the water level has gone down to the bottom of the cuts I. There is no leak. Is the tree absorbing this water? If so, how long will this continue? I added water 3 times today on the first day. It's early spring, the leaves and blooms are out now for about 2 weeks. Thank you for the video.
I don't know what is your actual problem but i think you can solve this problem by setting a big bottle uppar on soda bottle and connect to the soda bottle then allow water going to from big bottle to soda bottle in very less amount
@@dmorrow9589 I'm very new to all this. I havent tried grafting yet. I tried air layering which failed(the tree bark reconnected rather than rooting). I just made a few cuttings yesterday, all using different methods. The one I tried in water is the only one that is still alive today. I will look into grafting now
It's not necessary, just a cutting in a bottle and it works... The tree looks like a lemon tree, very easy to layer. Even branches on the soil start to have roots. One important think is to have a bud in water (auxiliary bud), you show it on your video, but do not explain...Anyway, thanks for the video.
The most interesting thing is you can use a plastic cup, plastic cover etc., instead of bottle. Good one.. and also you can try on any plant.... please do experiment.... share your success as well as other experience.. good luck...
Sir if do air layering for mango tree will it develop the roots same as you have shown in the video and what about the fruits sir . Thank you for showing us the easy method .
You can air layer any tree, just remember dont just do 1 I made 3 air layers on my lime tree and only 1 was successful and it's a really big cutting with wood that worked so I'm happy next time ima try to air layer 5 times in 1 tree maybe I have a better success rate
@@rizug7750 I have never done the water bottle method always the soil inside of the bag and it takes about 2 months for small small thin branches and up to 6months for branches that at 1" thick
The warmer the weather the faster the roots will appear. It will depend on your climate. Spring or Summer would work well, you will loose plenty of water from evaporation in the heat of Summer but you will produce roots faster.
What tree is this? Bc u can ŊƠŢ đơ tĥịṣ ª Magnolia trɛɛ. Tĥịṣ will ðɛfinitɛlƴ wơrƙ with a hibiscus 🌺 within as little as a weeƙ. Is recommended at least 2 weeks then pot up full sun
We tried this 3 days ago and the water evaporates like crazy. We had to refill it 3 times in one day !? We certainly can't do this everyday for 1 month ...
Air layering will probably not work in the winter, when the tree is still dormant and doesn't have any leaves. Wait until the tree grows mature leaves.

Thanks for your wonderful video.
Do you need to put a cover on top of the bottle since if not, the possibility of mosquito growing inside the bottle. Thanks

That's a cute bottle. I didn't know you can even do it like this. I learn something new today.
Please note it has to be cute bottles in order for this to work.

Today l learn a new way to grow plants. Thank you very much for your valuable information.
I'd paint or cover the bottle to prevent algae and make a plug to keep out pests but great idea. I have had little success with regular air layering
or refresh the water every couple of days
Thank you for sharing your experience and knowledge. From south India Pondicherry
Is that a lemon tree? I've got one started on a mulberry tree.

I have an old pear tree in my backyard that is rotting out and I want to try and save what I can

3 reasons: 1. Tree absorbs, 2 Evaporation, 3. Animals /birds drinking it.
@@DigiTallLuv have you considered grafting your pear tree?

Hi Master, basically what kind of fruit or flowering trees can we do in this way?
Figs

I think the bottle should also be wrapped in dark cloth or tape to ensure rooting takes place. Most plants need darkness to root quickly.
There are many ways to do things , each to there own on how they do it , doesn’t mean your way is the best or only way of doing things .
Perfect water air layering good job

Thanks for sharing new method for this plant ❤❤
Thank you from Texas
Nice video brother
One thing need to be explain, it needs watering (top up the bottle with water), could be daily in desert area

Would this method be successful with an older wooded plant?
Can this be with any air layering? Is this better than the soil or coil around a scrapped branch?
Could be way more dangerous than by using soil method due to high chances of rotting cause of high amount of water.
👌💕Great video, very informative, Thanks for sharing
Congratulation from Brazil..
looks great! thank you!👏👏
you should try the air layering boxes from myfirsttree.com

Yes! He ended up accidentally cutting his hand have while using that dull ass knife. 😂
Good video
do you get faster results doing this way vs the conventional air way ????
New Way & Good Initiative !!
Should such a plant be kept in shade ? What is the best season to do this?
Can be done anytime of year esp if evergreen. If stone fruit, best to do when the tree is actively growing in the spring time.

Can this process will work for airlayering thick ficus Benjamina ?
Hi friend
I'm from Iran and nice to meet you.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise.
Can I use this method on other plants?
On figs.
mr, treemore,, is this method can be applied to mango?
Quick video, good trick, good message
Do you need to change water more often or else stale stingy water will cause root to die back.
it seems to me what you cut is fresher than what you are showing. Is that another branch rooting?
Hi there, would this method work on avocado trees please?
Yeah apparently most trees. But I heard it does not work with Bannana??? Maybe there is another way for this type of tree I will have to learn next.
Hi! How many times is it rooting? Gretings from Brazil.
Please let me know when is the right time to do this process I mean which month I live in California

would this method work on Poinsettias? thank you :-)
great for hydroponics idea
Nice 👍
Very good
Wow. Only water ? Or is there a rooting hormone?
why not just use spagnum moss or soil? This seems like double work
I don’t see how it double the work , this is so simple it’s ridiculous.
It seems a very good method but I see a problem that the water will attract mosquito to breed in.
