Agree! I would not do like that. It is a papaya tree, right? The tree's body at the bottom part is be bigger than the top part.

I have been airlaying the traditional way for 15 years with rooting compound and a bag with soil so far doing 70% are positive. I have figs will follow your video thank you for sharing your experience with us.

i have about a 90/95% success with air layering but this looks much easier.
All plants are different but with figs, just cut and plant deeply into soil during winter. Job done.

Very Nice Practical Video
I love seeing an hydroponic version of the air layering technique, just some tips, you can place the plant first and then the soil around it to avoid damaging the roots. Also, i suggest you to water the plants just at the base of the plant to avoid fungus problems in your leaves. Great video! Greetings from México
yeah you can also fan out the roots if you do it like you say.
although with a small root mass watering the leaves will help the plant get some extra water into them, just avoid in the sun as the leaves can get damaged watering in the sun.

is it still alive? there are many leaves for a few roots!
it most likely is, trees get stressed when the leaves and roots arent balanced so if would put all of its energy into making roots

무화과 잎따기 하던지 잎을 잘라줘야 되지 않을까요? 그리고 뿌리가 완전 활착할 때까지 그늘에 두어야 할 것 같은데요. 나는 밑에서 올라오는 sucker에 화분밑을 잘라서 씌워 땅에 닿게하고 흙과 이끼를 채워 놓으면 뿌리가 내린다음 자릅니다. 그런데 하신 방법은 흥미 있습니다.
Beau Moon님 말씀대로 잎도 잘라주고 그늘에 두면 더 좋더라구요 :) 최대한 조건을 안좋게하여 실험을 해보았습니다.
워낙 무화과는 뿌리도 잘나오고 잘 죽지 않아서 성공한 것 같습니다. 지금도 아무 이상없이 잘 자라더라구요~ 근데 무화과가 아닌 다른 나무들은 Beau Moon님 말씀대로 하는것이 좋고 무화과도 품종에따라 잘되고 안되는 것이 있어 최대한 좋은 조건의 방법으로 하는게 좋을꺼 같습니다^^

지퍼백 물은 한번도 안 갈아준거지요?
무화과는 아무흙에서도 잘 자라서 밭에 있는 흙을 사용했습니다.
지퍼팩 물은 처음 그대로 방치하였습니다.
주의할 점은 지퍼팩 안에 물이 햇빛에 많이 노출 안되게 해주시면 더 좋습니다^^

I think citrus needs to be grafted. One root, another stem.
