Jim Steinman was quoted as saying that this was his favorite song he's ever written. I agree. For Crying out loud is a masterclass, and my favorite Meat Loaf song too!
That must have been before Tonight Is What It Means To Be Young... which he has stated in recent years to be his favourite... on his FB page I believe. This should also be the next song! The Streets of Fire soundtrack is a party from start to finish.
Steinman and Meatloaf didn’t sing songs, they performed mini operas. All the drama and emotion that could be gathered in a moment of time. Simply magnificent.
Very few reactions are available for this song, but according to Meat and Jim it is their best song. Meat has said that this is the best love song ever written and he would fight anybody who disagrees. Thank you so much for doing it.

Wow! someone finally did a reaction to this song! Best song on the album! I read somewhere that the album had come out for months and the band was touring but the record wasn't selling because the record label wasn't giving them any support. The band performed this song live for the record label executives and they were blown away. The record label finally put financial support behind the album and the rest was history.
This has Always been my favorite Meatloaf song of all time. I feel it’s so underrated. Thank you for reacting to this one❤ Heaven Can Wait is also beautiful
You should not overthink this too much. When I heard this song as a teenager back in the 70s it seeped into my bones and the words and the music let me soar high above every time. This is simply one of the most epic love songs EVER written. Period.
It is just amazing. An entire album of nothing but love songs. Covering Love in all of it's shapes, sizes and colors. In my 63 years I've never heard a single person say they didn't like this album. There is something here for everyone, no matter your music preferences.
This is the last song on the album. The whole album is about a boy resisting committing to the girl he is with, climaxing in the ending of Paradise by the Dashboard Light. In this song, he is finally ready to fully commit to his love.
One of my favorite Meat Loaf songs. Not as fun as the others, but the emotion of the lyrics, the instrumentals, and the delivery is unmatched - not just in the Meat Loaf catalog, but in music overall.
This entire album - both sides, start to finish, was incredible. I saw him in concert many years ago, and he left every ounce of himself on that stage. He gave everything - and it was magical. XO ☺
Let me first say congrats on being the first reaction channel to react to this song. Ssecondly, thank you, thank you for listening to this master piece of a love song.
I’ve seen others, and they all react the same way - in awe. Watched on the Wall and Day One Reacts to name a couple (I think her reaction was the best 😊).
Yes, definitely had many others react to this song before. Anywhere from aa few months ago to 6 years ago. I'm still waiting for a few vocal coaches to react to it. I feel this song alone captures every aspect of meatloaf and his voice.
It's been Meatloaf's most ignored song but I've seen a few reactions (Day One Reacts was indeed the best), and this was a THRILL when I saw this in the thumbnail. The best would be if Andy & Alex did it. That I'd pay for.
Your description only talks about Meat Loaf who I loved. But Jim Steinman was the genius who brought this epic to paper and instrument. Lest anybody ever forget that.
I am a huge fan of most of the Meatloaf/Steinman collaboration portfolio, but "For Crying Out Loud" has consistently remained my favourite song they ever created.
This is such a great song. When I heard him sing this live it just blew me away. Not many if any, songs from this album you can’t like. Over 43 million copies worldwide of this album have been sold 😮
The Bat out of hell Album is the highest selling Album in Australia to this day. Not bad for am Album released in 1977. The population of Australia in 1977 was 14.2 million people. This album to date has sold 1.8 million copies here now at a population level of 26.7 million. It was about the 23rd best selling album in the USA.
Let's not forget & give a shout out to the producer on this song and album , the one and only Todd Rundgren. Jim Steinman & Meatloaf had approached other producers who all passed on doing the album. Jim was even belittled by Clive Davis who asked Jim if he even knew how to write a song. Jim & Meatloaf told Rundgren they had a deal with RCA records. When Rundgren found out the deal with RCA didn't exist , Albert Grossman who was Bob Dylan's manager offered to put it on his Bearsville label but needed more money. Rundgren had essentially paid for the album himself.
I can’t believe you’re checking this out! It’s relatively the unknown track from Bat Out of Hell (one of the greatest albums of all time). Thanks and I’m excited to see what you both think. So, Jim Steinman (the songwriter and piano player) released a solo album after this. It was called Bad for Good. It was supposed to be Meat Loaf’s next album but something happened. I always thought it was because Meat Loaf got into an accident and couldn’t do it as a result, so Steinman decided to release it with himself doing the vocals. But it could have been a financial thing or another dispute IDK. Anyway, after you finish checking out every song from Bat Out of Hell, you should listen to the title track Bad for Good (it’s pretty good) but just imagine how great a song it would have been if Meat Loaf did the vocals!! Thanks again for checking this out !!!
I loved Bad for Good and remember rushing out to buy it. Such a shame that without Meatloaf's name attached it didn't attract the same fans. Jim Steinman did a good job with it.
MeatLoaf lost his voice through anxiety, the album was going to be called Renegade Angel but Steinman was pressured by the record company to release it so he did it with the help on vocals in a couple of songs from Rory Dodd.
This song is amazing. I freaking love Meatloaf ❤️ I had this Lp and the album cover was on the actual disc. I played it constantly driving my parents nuts. They bought it for me so too bad. Peace out guys ✌️ ☮️
Thank you. Absolutely love this song. My favorite from this album. Imagine listening to this with a black light on i n your high school bedroom. Always be a part of my life and growing up. Thank you for being part of my life and upbringing.
In my mind, this song tells the story of a man who loved a woman but struggled with addiction. They come together, he screws it up, they come together, he screws it up, over and over. Finally he recognizes that she is freedom and the addiction was the master in whose chains he was kneeling. Hence the ending of thanking her over and over for sticking with him until he grew out of it.
Sam, Phil: As somebody else mentioned... THANK YOU!!! Very few reactors have this song in their list. And even though the lyrics give you a heavy sense of dread or pain, it is (IMO) the best song of the album. Absolute masterpiece!
I clicked the like before the video even started! Thank you Phil and Sam for doing this song. It is probably my favorite song on this incredible album. Another favorite song is “Couldn’t have said it better”.
The songs from this album sound like nothing else from the 70's because they are literally "showtunes" done in a rock style. Jim Steinman basicalky wrote all these songs with a musical in mind. Most of Bat Out of Hell was written for a musical Jim was working on about Peter Pan. Fun Fact: This is the biggest selling album of all time that was written ENTIRELY (100% of both the music and lyrics credit) by one person.

Not sure if you picked up on this, but of the many things Meatloaf said at the end of the song, amoung them was "For that I want you, For that I need you and for that I love you" so at then end of the album it wasn't 2 out of 3, it was 3 out of 3 and more.
This one is different in a sense because it is the finale of a 7 song 'catalogue' album that broaches all of the emotions and confusion of learning what love is and what he wants with this young lady he's pursuing. From the Dashboard Light until For Crying Out Loud an evolution takes place, and this song is likely somewhere in the future when they started a family and he's reflecting on the chaos of growing up and becoming responsible. The buildup is the triumphant realization of what he has in her.
Great voice, he played Eddie in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, because they didn’t think anyone could sing the song (Hot Patootie, Bless My Soul) clearly because of the songs pacing
