I've never seen a shy terrapin lol one of the reasons I love them is because they aren't typically shy, very social and extremely curious. They are like the dog of reptiles/turtles lol
Kenan, Everytime you go to Sophia's pond and pull the Trachemys Grayi grayi out I chuckle. I have the same terrapin. I got her September 7, 2021 at 1 month old. She was a bit smaller than an American Silver Dollar when I got her, and is now got a length of 4 inches long and about 3.5 inches wide. I can't believe how quickly she's grown. Pepita, is what my wife named her, and she is so tame and always comes to me when I approach the aquarium. I plan to build her an indoor corner pond as I live in Toronto, Canada, and putting her outside just wouldn't be good as we have racoons, skunks, and possums, which would not see her as a pet but as food. And winter's here, you would know what they are like being from New York. I was able to find out exactly what kind of turtle she is and where they come from thanks to you one video, taking one of the same turtles out of the pond about 1 1/2 months ago. I'm so glad you posted this. My pink belly sideneck broke out in fungus when I moved him to his own aquarium and neither salt baths nor melafix would get rid of his fungus. Your channel is so helpful. Thanks!
Hope they all make a quick recovery 🤞🏼and that stuff does work great I’ve had to use it in the past when I worked at pet stores but we always used it on fish but still works the same on turtles basically any aquatic species 👍
I've been using acriflavin for 25 years. The way I've used it is: I dry out the turtle completely first. Then I apply acriflavin full strength directly on the fungal patches or area and then dry dock turtle for two to four hours. I've treated my diamondbacks, Chinese big-headed, Fly River turtles, and some other odds and ends this way and it has always worked great. If fungus is all over body then an acriflavin bath is best.

Dry docking works well too. Last time my terrapins had fungus, I dry docked them in a tub for about 23 hrs a day, allowing them an hour everyday in the water to hydrate and eat. Did that for 7 days and the fungus cleared right up.
hello there. Thanks for your sharing. I'm from Portugal and I have 5 redear Sliders that actualy have fungus. Today i washed them with some betadine, and let it stays for 15 minutos. Before that i wash them with fresh water and put them back in the lake. I wonder how many times/days shoud I do that treatment with Acriflavin? Thanks a lot

Water softener salt to a salinity of .1% in the pond works too. A little safer than the green stuff which is malachite.

Yeah good idea to give the DBT to someone who will look after their needs. They need very clean water if kept fresh.
