    Helped me so much thanks.
    For people wondering screw sizes : for outside, a TORX T5 is good, and for the internal heat shield PH00 is good.
    Don't try to scrap off the sticker on the SSD screw, just put the screwdriver through it.

    Thanks so much for this. I just performed a successful SSD upgrade to the Samsung 980 Pro 2TB thinking that would resolve the problem of my Matebook crashing yesterday and not booting up, but it looks like the problem is something else. Was your previous ssd a LiteOn? What were your BSOD error before and now with ssd replaced? Are they different?
      I had CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED and UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION + "no boot device" before having replaced the motherboard. Now I have almost daily WHEA UNCORRECTABLE ERROR + "no boot device".
      Someone blamed the LiteOn ssd (mine is from this manufacturer) so I was thinking of replacing that, but after seeing your comment I don't know what to do.

      @@afaik8 Hi, thanks for the question and sorry for the late answer. I think that the SSD from start was a LiteOn but I changed to a Samsung EVO 970 2TB drive for storage reason not due to issues. The reason the EVO drive was replaced in the video was only for showing how to perform this task.

    what the video is missing is some benchmarks before and after. it would have been great to see the difference in temperatures and fan noise, as a result of changing the thermal paste

      @@DEATHMETALCYCLE Tricky business! First you will have to find 4 8GB modules(to get 32GB RAM) that is possible if the sockets are some kind of standard. To remove the 4 modules you will have to do a full teardown to be able to access the area were the pins are welded. Be very careful when you loosen the modules so that you don't damage the circuits around the modules. The last problem is to solder the new 8GB modules in place and reassemble the laptop. I have never done this myself or seen it been done but someone must bi the first one.

Yeah disconnecting battey is always the safe way, but the as log as you dont create a short circuit you will be fine :)The wires are isolated and no contacts are touched, the processor itself have no contacts visable eithe but the motherboard have when the power is on(correct me if I'm wrong). The only problem I see is if you use way to much paste that spread across the circuits and after assemble the computer and press the power button you can damage the computer.

      Don't get me wrong, this is Your device, do what You like, but I'm electrical engineer by profession and when I see something like this my hair goes up! And yes, You are wrong 100%! Even if You are not physically turned on computer, some motherboard components in this computer are actually running all the time! In the future, if You are doing something like this, first disconnect Your battery! Just think that these electronic components are electrostatic sensitive and You connect their multiple contacts unevenly! Thermal paste is more or less childish game, at least to me, no big deal, but of course incorrectly application can also get more damage then use, as You say. And so ...

      The second method is to search for recovery drive in windows search. You need to have a 16GB USB drive, plug it in and follow the instructions. When the creation of the recovery drive is finished you need to boot the device and set boot priority to boot from USB drive. I hope this instruction can help you. is Cooling Architecture? The fan is doing what, nothing? in my opinion the cooling is practically passive because it does not have radiators for the heatpipes to pass to cool, it does not have nor compare with the cooling system of msi ps42 that is a direct competitor and with equal specifications

I have the Matebook with the highest specs myself but really considering to get an eGPU. Already have a good PC back at home but since I will be moving out soon and live in another country, I find it hard to take my PC with me as the eGPU is portable, easily installed and I can install one 2/4K screen to do my study work on it as well beside of gaming. Hi, thanks for the question. You have 2 choices. Clone the drive, you will need to have a M.2 SSD and a compartment to host it and also a software like EaseUS disk cloning. The easier way is to install Windows 10 from a memory stick(16GB or 32GB) and use Microsofts tool(link below). Hi, I guess that depends on wanted storage size and speed. I guess you have the i7 model and that one comes with 512GB storage. Going up to 1TB you have Intel 660p series NVMe 1800 MB/s read and write speed priced around 110$. On the speedier side you have Samsung EVO 970 1TB with read/write speed 3500/3300 MB/s for 214$. Going for 2TB Intel 660p will set you back 200$ and 467$ for Samsung EVO 970. So you see that it is a hugh difference and I doubt you will notice any difference on day to day work. I have the EVO 970 2TB version but if I had to choose today I would have gone for Intel.s 660p 2TB for half the price. Thanks for your question, please support the channel by subscribing :)

Change your SSD drive, When it is completed boot the system into BIOS and select the recovery drive to be first boot device, save and continue with recovery. The second is to download Microsoft tool and create a USB drive from www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 , but then you need to download HUAWEI PC Manager to install the drivers, maybe Windows Update can be used too.

    Just advice for anybody following the video. DO NOT apply thermal paste as shown. It's way too much and you will create air gaps once that heatsink presses it all down. The size of a grain of rice is enough for a desktop cpu, this is smaller, use a little common sense. Be careful and proceed with caution. This is not for people that have never even opened a PC before.

    • @thetechzone6558
      @thetechzone6558  5 лет назад +2

      Thanks for your thoughts, you may be right, but I still managed to lower the CPU and GPU temps with 3 degree celsius and I think that mostly was because the factory had used too little thermal paste. This topic isvery controversal, too much will cause a risk for pressing paste out on the circuits, too little will defenitly cause higher tempertures. Check this link if you are unsure about the amount of paste. ruclips.net/video/r2MEAnZ3swQ/видео.html . I defenitly agree with the latter part, please be very careful and document every screws position.

      No, you will need to repase the CPU and GPU before putting the heat sink back on and since there is one screw that has a sticker on it you will have to check with the retailer or Huawei if it will damage your warranty!!!. If you don't have a Windows 10 USB installation media I recommend you create a recovery drive(just search recovery drive in windows, you will need at least 16GB if I remember correctly). I have tryed both, clean install need to have some drivers from Huawei installed in a specific order. If you need help with that please inform me.

      Hi, thanks for the question. I recommend you to do a recovery drive if the m.2 drive is new, new drives doesn't have Windows installed. By creating a recovery image to a USB-drive you get a full copy of the drive delivered from Huawei. Another way is to install Windows 10 by downloading a Windows installation image to a 32GB USB drive, by doing this you need to have Huawei WiFi Drivers and the PC Manager from Huawei check the link below. I will be very grateful if you can support the channel by subscribing :)
