- This was presented internally at a Northwest Airlines sales meeting in the fall of 1986 during the roll-out of the Republic Airlines/Northwest Orient Airlines merger. It is a detailed explanation of the "Look to us" advertising campaign, post-merger, where the word "orient" is dropped from NWA's logo.
The airline with hubs in Minneapolis, Detroit, and Memphis. Or as it was euphemistically called, "snow town, motown, and no town."

How did they lose sight of this? When I flew with them while it was still Northwest Orient, it was a fantastic airline! When they dropped the “Orient” and just became known as “Northwest”, service went down. I noticed shortly after, they came out with bowling shoe livery.
